There is a status that Kenshi characters don't like water.
I think the person with high status will pass the road.
The status of crabs is low, so they will go into the water.
1) Except for a few mercs who patrol every square inch of the place by default - nobody is swimming trying to get places anymore!
2) For whatever reason (simplified pathfinding? people just not having to swim to get places? magic?) after putting a few of these roads in key places in my base, performance in my large job-heavy population has greatly improved.
Thanks for putting this together - the new framed roads look great too.
The path will have to be installed manually.
