Never reloaded quicksaves more often in my life. Very nice puzzle though, really elegant solution once it finally falls into place!

Very cool the last execution always gets me though.

second room hint:
shoot portal from the laser source, over the water, to the white wall inside cage

Beautiful logic! love it

@StackSmasher789 Great work solving this one! Throwing the cube is obviously unintended, so I don't think I would like to obstruct the clear view with a custom fizzler there. Good hints though!
StackSmasher789 28 Apr, 2024 @ 6:52am
Very clever! Took me an entire afternoon to solve it but totally worth it! Hint: In the second room, try to get the blue cube out of the cage in front of white panel near the circular window. The red dropper is positioned in a "fuck you" spot and no way to grab that cube even with bunnyhops. If you're extremely lucky or skilled enough, you can just throw a cube to the other side. I would really recommend some special beemod fizzler there to prevent that.

@Lilac Hahaha yep that is still one of my most evil design choices to date xD Keep at it, you'll solve it soon enough I'm sure!
Lilac 30 Jul, 2023 @ 2:46am
You are an absolute devil with how you positioned that one cube dropper , still haven't cracked it but I screamed when my flawless solution was ruined...
Mikeastro  [author] 25 Jul, 2023 @ 3:05pm
@rasmaniac Thank you so much for the kind words :D Excellent work solving this one! I'm very happy to hear that my maps are helping you improve your puzzle solving abilities :cozycrashfish: Keep at it!
rasmaniac 25 Jul, 2023 @ 1:15pm
Omg this was so satisfying to figure out. Also your first 5/10 puzzle I could actually figure out without a tutorial. Your maps are making me smarter!
JiggleYourJerkyMrTurkey 27 May, 2023 @ 2:45pm
Very good map! I never though laser-ing turrets could be so satisfying

Great bootstrapping puzzle ! I think I did a decent job at solving it

You doubted my ability to think with cubes. I spent hours trying to sneak past the turrets with only the cubes just to spite you for implying that the laser was necessary. And i did it. The turrets fell to the merciless vertices of my cuboidal comrades.
Mikeastro  [author] 6 Jan, 2023 @ 3:01am
@Aneonen Thanks a lot for playing! Indeed, that one design choice may be one of my most diabolical decisions ever :D Glad you enjoyed it!
Aneonen 5 Jan, 2023 @ 6:55pm
The journey was tense but I made it out! It looks like I wasn't alone in swearing out loud (in a friendly way) when I realized that you had placed the primary puzzle's red cube dropper in such a cruelly convenient position. In general, everything came together when I considered what actions I could take against the far wall such that I could change state while preserving the laser source's surface.

first good map with turets ;)
Mikeastro  [author] 13 May, 2020 @ 6:45am
@Teo Thank you! It turned out that there were a few unnecessary connections when I first published it but now it should all be as clean as possible :]
Teo 12 May, 2020 @ 3:48pm
Woah, I like the revised layout :D Super great puzzle, probably one of my favorites you've made :]
Mikeastro  [author] 4 May, 2020 @ 3:12pm
@| \_/ () Thank you very much for playing! I'm glad you enjoyed it :D Well done solving it - I personally think the second puzzle is more complex than the first, but of course experiences can differ from player to player. And the reason why I think the turrets were used in a cheap way was because I could have easily replaced the turrets by just a laser receiver, making the map a fair bit more compact :P
| \_/ () 4 May, 2020 @ 2:38pm
At first I thought this level might be too lasery but in the end I can proudly say...*ahem*
...that it has just enough and not too many lasers.

Okay seriously now, this puzzle is so well-hought-out, so complexly structured and yet everything comes together so fittingly and the end is so satisfying, that it deserves a favorite from me.
It just shows how much thought was put into even the smallest things like cube destruction time. I love the positioning of walls, test elements and signs; the window between the two rooms is really neat; I really liked the music; I adored how good turrets are used, which is pretty rare.
Tremendous work!

...I just read the description - are you kidding? This is the right way to use turrets! And by the way, the first room was the harder one for me.

@BehindPortal Thank you very much! It is quite difficult indeed, excellent work! Glad you enjoyed :]

Very nice map Mike - Seems the solution to it if you're stuck is to take a 3 week break from playing it :P

@Atom Thank you :] And no problem, I will be patiently waiting for your next creation

Very awesome map indeed! Sorry, I had to look at the walkthrough because i missed one detail in the last chamber. But very good puzzle by the way. Sry, i havent been making maps lately.
Mikeastro  [author] 19 Dec, 2019 @ 4:21pm
@asears16 Thank you :D Excellent work solving it. You found the intended solution. My favourite part of the video was when you found out the hard way why the red cube dropper was located where it is >:] Oh and small note, at the end you placed the blue cube in the small space next to the hole in the glass. An alternative would have been to place it essentially anywhere else in the main room, with the portal surfaces next to the door facing the cube. Thanks a lot for the video! I'm glad you enjoyed the puzzle
asears16 19 Dec, 2019 @ 2:52pm
Great bootstrapping map! The second room especially took a lot of thought to solve.

@•‹†ρđ› ĐūšР2ķ• Thanks for playing :D It's indeed fairly tricky. Excellent work solving it and I'm glad you enjoyed it!
•‹†ρđ› ĐūšР2ķ• 16 Dec, 2019 @ 4:40am
Nice map Mike. It had me stumped for a while because I missed one critical move. Faved!
Mikeastro  [author] 14 Dec, 2019 @ 2:59am
@Spider_Dawg The video is from a somewhat old version of the map and does some grabbing cubes through the grating which is not necessary, among a few other details. I'm glad you enjoyed the puzzle; it is indeed quite tricky
Spider_Dawg 13 Dec, 2019 @ 7:37pm
Not sure if I did this as intended since the videos look so much different than what I just played, but I did get to the exit without running past the turrets or blocking with a cube or anything else that could be called cheating. That was quite the head scratcher, I have a brand new bald spot thanks to this puzzle. I did enjoy this, but will admit to cursing you a few times when losing the laser, especially the time the red cube fell into the bootstrapped laser .
Mikeastro  [author] 13 Dec, 2019 @ 6:51pm
@piederman Fairly interesting, for I tested the map after updating. In room 1, there is one laser that has a shutdown delay of a second to make it much easier to pull off the solution. In room 2, the short laser pulse fires for precisely one second. There are no further timers
racknae 13 Dec, 2019 @ 6:47pm
Timers don't seem to work properly. Laser seems to stop at random.
Mikeastro  [author] 13 Dec, 2019 @ 4:56pm
@Determinated Thank you very much :D
Also, map received another small update to patch some shenanigans
Dire Domino 13 Dec, 2019 @ 12:05pm
This test turned out really well, glad I was able to playtest for you!
Mikeastro  [author] 9 Dec, 2019 @ 12:54pm
Remember those connections from the relay to the flip panels? Me neither, because they weren't even necessary (with 98.75% certainty)! Look at that thumbnail - that looks so much better...
Mikeastro  [author] 8 Dec, 2019 @ 4:20pm
@Neightro Thank you very much for playing! Excellent work solving it. It's always nice to hear from someone new to me :D I'm really glad you liked it. Thanks for following me!
Neightro 8 Dec, 2019 @ 3:44pm
Thanks for making this map; it was great! While bootstrapping is a pretty common theme for maps, this was challenging and felt rewarding to solve. Consider me followed!
Mikeastro  [author] 8 Dec, 2019 @ 6:35am
@Sector 5 Thanks man, I really appreciate that. I've also noticed that your maps lately have gotten a little trickier to solve, while still looking very pretty - excellent work!
Mikeastro  [author] 8 Dec, 2019 @ 3:41am
@jandlml Thanks for sticking with the map :) I'm glad you liked it in the end :D
jandlml 7 Dec, 2019 @ 11:37pm
excellent! faved! and you dont want to do bootstrapping maps. too bad. that one move really seemed legitimate respawning the red cube ,and it would hit the laser beam. took me some time to figure out the right move.
jandlml 7 Dec, 2019 @ 10:13pm
Mikaestro, im sorry for not explaining better on how i got by the turrets. im glad Libby is there to take up my slack. he explained it much better than i ever could. thanks Libby nice to see you are the comment board
jandlml 7 Dec, 2019 @ 9:53pm
i think you did it. im going to try again
Libbybapa 7 Dec, 2019 @ 10:10am
Right. I wondered about that. You could make that surface 1/4 voxel wide rather than the 1/2 by using a vertical 1/4 wall which I think would prevent the swap there. Not a big deal, though.
Mikeastro  [author] 7 Dec, 2019 @ 9:54am
@Libbybapa Swapping on the tight bridge is indeed still possible, but I cannot make it any narrower. I just hope this discourages the player sufficiently. There is a nicer place to do the swap, though. Apart from that fully intended ^_^
