This doesn't work, it just uses the default generation

I have encountered an issue where it seems it just uses the Dry map style and I have plateaus everywhere while still using the Appalachia terrain
kutsukutsununnu 12 Feb, 2024 @ 12:29pm
Hello my generator doesnt work it just generates the base game thingy
DONN 8 Dec, 2022 @ 4:45pm
Nice!
sszxdzaedddf 29 Oct, 2022 @ 10:32am
all this does is make my game crash
Grinzessin Prümpfli 27 Jan, 2022 @ 2:13pm
This is how rivers should be generated in the base game!

Dry environment basically indicates to the game to use US style assets and I don't think actually has any affect on the foliage or ground textures. It doesn't have to be set to dry, it's just what fits thematically.
timothyeaw 18 Sep, 2021 @ 11:16am
Why dry environment over temperate for recommended settings?
jofre6sb 11 Feb, 2021 @ 6:56am
I love the meanders, and the rivers which generates. But the relief and the mountains not so much as I would like to have something more similar to what the base game does, and near the river the lower terrain and away from the higher river. But thanks for such a cool tool.

If you enable the mod in the mod list and save as if you're about to create a new map it should show up in the editor.
doom_juan 10 Nov, 2020 @ 4:24pm
Is there a way to get these map generators to work in the editor?
AbbyTheFoxx  [author] 4 Oct, 2020 @ 7:36am
No mod sky used for the screenshot. I did some some slight brightness/contrast edits to the photos but that's it. It's possible they might've changed something with the sky since I made this mod too.
Barclay 3 Oct, 2020 @ 11:30pm
Hello. Tell me, what kind of sky do you have in the screenshots? Is this a mod?
Stormlover_51 30 May, 2020 @ 3:24pm
Excellent, I like it! (And I put snow on them too.)

The long, low mountains make it possible to gain at least some elevation even with the earliest steam engines for a scenic ride. With the more powerful steam engines I can run them half way up the mountain before tunneling through (just like in real life.)

The issue I had was that houses would spawn with palm trees and desert foliage in their backyards and stuff no matter the climate. I burned out on the game for a bit and have been just playing other things but when I pick things back up I can try and look into a workaround for that.

Hi
Im really impressed by the generator.

The only problem I have is when using the Tropical Climate. No forests will be generated.
Is this something that could be solved?

If you don't get the new update right away you might need to unsubscribe, wait a few seconds for files to be removed, then resubscribe to force it to pull the new files.
AbbyTheFoxx  [author] 15 Jan, 2020 @ 9:41pm
Oh yeah, I think the mod needs to be enabled for that from what I saw on other map gen mods to be able to be used in the creator. I pushed an update to make the mod visible in the mod list again so you can enable it.
BloxyBoi 15 Jan, 2020 @ 3:49pm
Is it supposed to show up when making your own map because it shows up in the drop down menu in free play but not in the map generator.
Big Timberbones 10 Jan, 2020 @ 1:16am
Sounds pretty nice, what would be even cooler is some sort of trans-alpine map, low lands on each side and mountains in the middle
AbbyTheFoxx  [author] 7 Jan, 2020 @ 12:58am
Glad you like it! I have a new Australian Gold Coast one in the works as well I can hopefully get posted in the next week or two.
Big Timberbones 7 Jan, 2020 @ 12:11am
This is probably the best terrain generator out there, much better than vanilla atleast
AbbyTheFoxx  [author] 4 Jan, 2020 @ 5:14am
I don't remember exactly. Mostly just trees that fit the area and fill out the mountains nicely. The conifer trees they use might not exactly be from the area but it's the only option for large conifers in the mountains really. It doesn't use anything like palm trees or Joshua trees that look blatantly out of place.
Connor | RIMapping 4 Jan, 2020 @ 3:50am
What tree types are used in this?
AbbyTheFoxx  [author] 28 Dec, 2019 @ 11:37am
Are you checking the dropdown that should show up under Temperate? It doesn't show up as its own thumbnail anymore.
RobBob420 28 Dec, 2019 @ 9:57am
it's not showing up in the list of generators
Starbucaneer 25 Dec, 2019 @ 1:15pm
oooh I LIKE the winding rivers! I also wish the map was not littered with rocks everywhere (or at all). I never understood why that was ever a thing in the original game or this game. Thanks for creating and sharing
AbbyTheFoxx  [author] 21 Dec, 2019 @ 12:48pm
Oops, I didn't know about the mod order issue. I wish I had the climate separate in the first place but I had nothing to reference while figuring this mod out. I'm glad you found a solution! I'm glad you like it, I live in Pennsylvania and wanted to make something similar to what I see when I visit family up by Altoona.
Skunk Monkey 21 Dec, 2019 @ 10:18am
Heads up. If you had this mod enabled prior to QuadroMan1 making it so you don't have to enable anything, you may notice you are missing a number in your mod order. The game still thinks there is a mod activated in that slot. You have to disable this mod, save your mod settings, the reload the game.

I had the mod in slot 2 and couldn't figure out why my mod order went 1,3,4,5.. etc. Once I did the above, the slot was free and everything was back to normal.

Thanks for the mod! As someone that lives in the area, these maps look like what is right outside my window. Very well done!
AbbyTheFoxx  [author] 20 Dec, 2019 @ 3:59pm
The most basic way to do it is to add your own modified version of one of the .gen.lua files in res/config/terrain_generators, set "climate =" to which climate you want the generator to show up on in as a dropdown, and change the name to whatever you want to call it. From there you can tweak a bunch of values :)
Capt. Sunrise 20 Dec, 2019 @ 3:40pm
This is amazing! How do you make your own map generators?
AbbyTheFoxx  [author] 18 Dec, 2019 @ 7:59pm
Alright the new update is up, it addresses the issue with the rocks as well as some other things :)
AbbyTheFoxx  [author] 18 Dec, 2019 @ 4:08pm
I think so, I can look into that next since that was bothering me too.
NS_37 18 Dec, 2019 @ 3:58pm
I wonder is there a way to decrease the number of rocks thrown about? IMO there are way too many individual boulders especially along the river banks. Love the winding rivers.
AbbyTheFoxx  [author] 18 Dec, 2019 @ 1:11pm
Of course! I was finding temperate with American assets to not feel *quite* American enough :) Let me know if you have any feedback or ideas!
NS_37 18 Dec, 2019 @ 1:09pm
Much thanks!
Everyone 18 Dec, 2019 @ 12:06pm
Just a guess, the generator shows up as an option so that map could be generated without disabling the achievements. I think this is a feature.
mote454 17 Dec, 2019 @ 7:05pm
Thanks QuadroMan1. I already saved about 5 maps from this generator for future editing.
AbbyTheFoxx  [author] 17 Dec, 2019 @ 6:48pm
I increased the effectiveness of the river width slider for you :) Also decreased the width of river branches and improved how they connect up a bit.
mote454 17 Dec, 2019 @ 5:25pm
This is really good. Thank You. Only thing is the river width needs more width, if that's possible?
