You need to ensure that Experimental Map Size is enabled or the map will not load, use this link to see what maps sizes are available
{LINK REMOVED}https://www.transportfever2.com/wiki/doku.php?id=gamemanual:mapsizes
To amend the file, to enable mega maps to be played, use this link
{LINK REMOVED}https://www.transportfever2.com/wiki/doku.php?id=gamemanual:gamefilelocations#folder_locations
When you've changed the settings to "True" save the file and close the folder and, if needed, restart the game. You'll then be able to run any mega map when starting a new game.
It sounds like you're in Map Editor mode hence your issues.
The Amtrak map for passenger routes and major freight lines from the other map - with Kansas City as central hub.
Raw material (planks, coal, iron) from the west to industrial centers about Chicago and Detroit.
Bread and fuel industries in the middle.
And all of that in the golden 50s with steam and diesel.
I turned the auto save off. Loading or saving takes some time. So far no problems with the current version of Transport Fever 2 (only 25 mods installed).

(surely it ain't that hard to add the link to the above for Experimental Map Sizes?)
Text below is from the link above
*Enable Experimental Map Sizes
The other map sizes can be enabled by changing a value in the settings.lua which is located in the userdata folder. See the game file locations to find out where this directory is located.
Close the game before you change edit the file. Inside the file, look for the experimentalMapSizes key and switch it to true to enable the experimental map sizes. Usually the keys are ordered alphabetical for better orientation. Save the file and restart the game.
function data()
return {
...
experimentalMapSizes = true,
...
}
end
And there it is. How to enable experimental map sizes
Unless the developer adjusts it, there is no way for me to revamp or replace the requirement.
Thanks a lot for this map!
Search online for DEM or SRTM open source 30m data.
But the scale seems to work very well.. Shipping Logs/planks from Seattle as the biggest company for wood construction is out there, to the east coast will provide some real fun and challenge.. i set the midwest as the grain capital, and pretty much every city has to have food, but the midwest only produces the grain. I only allowed no food into a city if it bordered another very close..
Hopefully this is what I am looking for.. Every other map generic I try is just bland and I get bored after making my first bil since there is nothing left to do.. at least with this one I set it up to have industry zones, or producing zones.
