Is there suppose to be just the single Iron ore spawn on the map? It is rather far from the steel mills lol
Spearin  [author] 7 Oct, 2024 @ 6:43am
@alznfinizen Thanks! I just realized my PayPal link has been broken for years, so it should be updated now.
alzanfinizen 28 Sep, 2024 @ 4:59pm
Nvm I am stupid, didn't know I could change difficulty in Advanced Settings. Switching to medium and redoing the Houston oil start now. So excited like a lil kid :D Also, insane map - will contribute to your paypal (need to setup account lol) as you deserve it!
alzanfinizen 28 Sep, 2024 @ 4:29pm
Bro, this map is so hard. I am always losing money. Any tips and pointers? Do I 'HAVE' to start with NE Atlantic? Because that's the only route I haven't tried yet. I kept losing money and thereby interest in this map when I started from Chicago or Houston (oil focus) but I really want to enjoy this map. Help please!
supercjman77 8 Jan, 2024 @ 12:43pm
for some reason the Mississippi river is not navigatable?
0fficial Dregs 24 Sep, 2023 @ 11:05am
is there any way of clearing the debt on the map because i notice using this map, i'm always in debt compared to any of the other maps.

Disable industry spawning in settings
Evan 31 Aug, 2023 @ 1:24pm
My game stutters on this map anytime an industry spawns, any one know what the fix for that is? I am on 64GB of memory and a 4080.

Found an issue: The town names are english.
daberb 11 Jun, 2023 @ 11:07am
There are a lot of problems with the map... even though the game does an autosave, your changes aren't saved ... this map doesn't seem to like building train stations when you do it creates an error and you lose everything... if it ever gets updated and fixed it would be a great map

Great map. Very detailed. I enjoy it a lot to play it, thx.

@jameswalter2

Main Menu > Free Game > Open Map (top right)
and select map from the list shown

I guess I'm 'stupid', but I cannot figure out how to get this map to show up. I hate to ask, but could someone 'spoon feed' me detailed instructions?
Marvinos 17 Mar, 2023 @ 9:36pm
Hi, I am playing TPF 2 since a few weeks. Now I have two questions about this map. If is set industry density to average, do new industries pop up automatically when advancing through time? And is there a way to see what cities are set to become metropoles?
MachoCyclone 25 Feb, 2023 @ 8:33pm
@wabbithunta - I've been playing this map and another mega map without Experimental Map size enabled just fine with no issues. The only thing that setting does in the .lua file is enable you to generate the mega maps yourself. It doesn't stop you from loading a mega map that you downloaded from the Workshop.
wabbithunta 19 Feb, 2023 @ 2:57am
@Hazmatt
Main Menu > Select Free Game > Top right hand corner > Play Map

When this opens select the required map, in this case

https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1944408249&tscn=1676778380

You need to ensure that Experimental Map Size is enabled or the map will not load, use this link to see what maps sizes are available

{LINK REMOVED}

To amend the file, to enable mega maps to be played, use this link

{LINK REMOVED}

When you've changed the settings to "True" save the file and close the folder and, if needed, restart the game. You'll then be able to run any mega map when starting a new game.

A bit new to modding on PC, am I doing something wrong? I've subscribed to the mod and it does not show up in the game. Would appreciate any help, thanks.
wabbithunta 12 Feb, 2023 @ 10:20pm
@bombsquad
It sounds like you're in Map Editor mode hence your issues.
BombSquad2336 12 Feb, 2023 @ 5:44pm
I can only build roads, towns and industries. I have no option to build railways, airports or anything else. Any idea why that is?
Ogre TF2 20 Jan, 2023 @ 7:51am
I think you should add Providence or Newport, that part of the map is just too empty.
Blech_Mech 8 Dec, 2022 @ 10:41pm
Thank you for the map. However, I completely rebuild the raw material sources and industries - that's too much for me in the original map.
The Amtrak map for passenger routes and major freight lines from the other map - with Kansas City as central hub.
Raw material (planks, coal, iron) from the west to industrial centers about Chicago and Detroit.
Bread and fuel industries in the middle.
And all of that in the golden 50s with steam and diesel.

I turned the auto save off. Loading or saving takes some time. So far no problems with the current version of Transport Fever 2 (only 25 mods installed).

@SixthSense, this map is using the largest experimental map size, so unfortunately it cannot be enlarged any further!
Logos 27 Oct, 2022 @ 9:30pm
Great map but it's too small imo. Is it possible to stretch it out automatically to one of the larger experimental map sizes??

(surely it ain't that hard to add the link to the above for Experimental Map Sizes?)

Text below is from the link above

*Enable Experimental Map Sizes
The other map sizes can be enabled by changing a value in the settings.lua which is located in the userdata folder. See the game file locations to find out where this directory is located.

Close the game before you change edit the file. Inside the file, look for the experimentalMapSizes key and switch it to true to enable the experimental map sizes. Usually the keys are ordered alphabetical for better orientation. Save the file and restart the game.

function data()
return {
...
experimentalMapSizes = true,
...
}
end

And there it is. How to enable experimental map sizes
Spearin  [author] 11 Jul, 2022 @ 12:45pm
Thanks for notifying me. It was linking to a Guide that explained how to set up experimental map sizes. The Guide must be gone now.
Unless the developer adjusts it, there is no way for me to revamp or replace the requirement.
naturejj2015 11 Jul, 2022 @ 12:39pm
Somehow the Experimental Map Size link doesn't link up to anything anymore when clicked on! Is there going to be a revamp or possible replacement for this feature?
RLJSlick 5 Dec, 2021 @ 4:46pm
Man I love this map, congrats!
Spearin  [author] 3 Nov, 2021 @ 7:39am
Hello, thank you for the kind words! I would suggest playing in a mode where you're able to place industries to ease the difficulty.
martin.tobak 3 Nov, 2021 @ 2:47am
This is the best map i have found so far ... love it very much. My only concern is that it is hard difficulty and for me, who bought the game in last month, it is very difficult to play from beginning. Isnt there an medium or easy difficulty version somewhere else? Thanks for answer.
SLicTa 21 Jul, 2021 @ 2:21pm
Same question for the chemical plant... Only one but like 4 or 5 other factories requesting plastic ? :-(. Could be a pretty good map !
Carson 19 Jul, 2021 @ 12:46am
Why only one iron mine on the entire map?
GrimReaperHUN 29 Apr, 2021 @ 9:22am
Why do I start with 56 million (!!!) buck debt?...
winston846079 25 Feb, 2021 @ 11:08pm
I can build roads but no road depots?? And why have you changed your name from the name you use for your other USA maps? This one is AMAZING...if only I could build anything other than roads.
xXRTPYTXx 24 Feb, 2021 @ 1:38pm
I can't find this map in my game when I subscribed to the mod. Can anyone help with this problem?
moldy912 23 Feb, 2021 @ 4:58pm
My game goes to 10fps on this map (I suspect that's the same for all maps of this size), but I really enjoyed the detail. I wish the Mississippi was boat navigable, I widened it myself. I also wish there were more industries, starting with Fuel in Texas is so tough when I just want to boom NYC haha.
Devi 15 Feb, 2021 @ 11:28am
Thank you for your hard work , this map looks amazing !
Maximus 18 Jan, 2021 @ 4:31pm
I like the placement of industries combined with the cities demands - started playing Halifax <-> Boston and it is a lot of fun. However it showed me that the map was created with some kind of mod though which disables achievements.
Thanks a lot for this map!
RLJSlick 6 Dec, 2020 @ 11:13am
Excellent map!
Titan 25 Oct, 2020 @ 3:08pm
Anyone else having trouble building stuff? Like depots, rails, ships and the like? I can only build streets......nothing else.
Spearin  [author] 11 Oct, 2020 @ 6:47am
Hello Valdrex, I use QGIS to import the digital elevation model (DEM) heightmap data. I adjust the min/max values, create a grid square and export the heightmap.
Search online for DEM or SRTM open source 30m data.
AlejandroRex7 10 Oct, 2020 @ 8:06am
Hey Spearin. Where did you manage to get a heightmap for this besides terrain.party? I'm trying to figure out how to make custom maps using heightmaps but can't figure out how to get an area larger than 60 square km. Thanks!
kmc720 19 Jun, 2020 @ 12:20am
Great map.
Themule08 19 May, 2020 @ 3:46pm
Great base thanks! just spend last 5 hours putting correct industry all over the US.. did not do Canada for this play through.. might expand if I like this one into Canada next..

But the scale seems to work very well.. Shipping Logs/planks from Seattle as the biggest company for wood construction is out there, to the east coast will provide some real fun and challenge.. i set the midwest as the grain capital, and pretty much every city has to have food, but the midwest only produces the grain. I only allowed no food into a city if it bordered another very close..

Hopefully this is what I am looking for.. Every other map generic I try is just bland and I get bored after making my first bil since there is nothing left to do.. at least with this one I set it up to have industry zones, or producing zones.
residentmaple 15 May, 2020 @ 9:21am
I really like the concept of the map (and I know it's hard to do scale), but it is nearly impossible to build on- especially in career mode. For example- New York City is surrounded by steep cliffs that limit it to a minuscule size, Los Angeles is completely inaccessible, and the whole map is ridiculously bumpy. I know it's taken from a height map but... in order for it to be playable (I want to actually have a grand Penn Station in New York!) it has to be adapted for TPF2. Best wishes!
Cook 13 Apr, 2020 @ 10:12am
Great! Looking forward to it.
Spearin  [author] 12 Apr, 2020 @ 5:44am
Yes, I already have played Golden Horseshoe in TpF2 but haven't released it. Also the entire Great Lakes region, which I might focus on first. It takes much more time to polish up maps to a release state than in TpF!
Cook 11 Apr, 2020 @ 2:19pm
@Spearin Would you consider doing a Golden Horseshoe Map again similar to TPF1? I loved that map and it seems a lot less overwhelming and performance heavy than the entirety of NA. Love your work and thanks for everything you've created!
Spearin  [author] 11 Apr, 2020 @ 10:07am
Try disabling the Sunset Mod if you have it on, that creates more shadows that will decrease performance.
