So before making unnecessarily rude posts, you might want to RTFM, it'll make you look less of a fool.
This software works just fine, if you use it for its intended purpose, which is managing and creating mods for existing data sets.
If you want to combine data sets, how about creating a tool yourself?
Or write a data set mod which contains population and farm size parameters.
Why? No idea, it just doesn't work.
All I wanna do is use the no pop limit mod with the small farms mod, but it won't let me use both of them together. Fix your shit.
Hi I need some help. I want to use a unit mod and make it compatible with the unit mod collection. Any help would be greaty appreciated :)
"Some of the folders used by AoE II HD and necessary for Mod Manager to work properly are missing! To use Mod Manager please ensure all folders created for AoE II HD by steam[sic] are present.
"Mod Manager will shut down now."
This occurred after validating files as well after a full reinstall of the game. Then a full restart of the system followed by ANOTHER reinstall of the game.
I'm at a loss for what to do now.
@Ratt
Can you send me the text of the message or a screenshot?

There will be an update. I already rewrote the whole tool in C# (was VB before) and also added some more functionalities and made the startup working better.
There still is no new installer for now though. The old one was done with what was included with VisualStudio - but that option isn't present anymore.
I also got a lot of feedback from people that didn't want to use something that actually had an installer instead of a plain exe.
The startup problems are gone with the new update I hope, but if they aren't, I'll go the way you mention.
The new version is actually almost finished - just a lot of testing left to do to ensure everthing is actually still working.
Error Sve File-
Mod Manager wans't able to save required file 'Manual.pdf'.
I tried re-opening and re-opening millions of times until i decided to delete the files, unsubcribe and subcribe again and it downloaded okay.
Then i tried opening it and the same error occurred?
Any ideas why this happens and how i could fix it?
its not hard to set it all up(prob 5-10 minutes) but instead of it terminating when it doesnt know where to look make it ask for the corrosponding folders so that the user can select them? that might make it a bit more userfriendly to start off with
In case you think something should be optimized or you do miss some functionality (beside the more indepth ones coming with reenabling expert state later) - just tell me.
I tried the things you mentioned. Everything is working fine.
Thanks for helping and thanks for making such a handy tool :)
And yes, all the folders you found are your downloaded mods.
Normally, if you run my tool, it will look up your paths from the registry and one of the first things it does, is checking all needed folders exist - creating them if they don't.
Please try to create the folder "E:\STEAM\steamapps\workshop\content\221380\ModManagerContent" manually.
Sadly, without this folder there is no log I can take a look at to anlyse the cause for this error.
- Open the AoE 2 HD ModManager.exe.config file (this is a xml file, so something like NotePad++ that highlights the files syntax does help)
- The file contains the initial values for the internal settings my tool stores for you.
- Set the value of SteamDirectory to your AoE game folder (change <value /> to <value>Path</value>), ModDirectory is the mods folder inside your AoE game folder, ModArchiveDirectory is E:\STEAM\steamapps\workshop\content\221380 for you, ModManagerDirectory is E:\STEAM\steamapps\workshop\content\221380\ModManagerContent
I'm working on a new version with rewritten code that also adds some options for better bug tracking. But I am really busy for some time now, I don't think I'll be able to release it before the end of january. :(
Does having user patch 1.5 installed interfere with the Mod Manager ? or is it because I have steam installed on E and not C ?
(For everything is stuffed into this one dat file and therefore they overwrite each other.)
This is something I'd love to add - but right now I don't have enough time to try making it work - and it's not that easy (due to the dat files internal data structure), otherwise I'm sure someone would have done it already.
Best option would be to officialy split it up like the devs did with the drs files already...
After that, go to the mods download folder . easiest way is to select it in the ingame workshop manager and clicking the 'open in explorer' button.
Then, copy all content from the mod folder to where you want to 'install' it - preferably a folder you can access easily and don't forget about.
Now you just need to run the exe file (or create a shortcut to it, that you can place on your desktop).
I suggest to take a look at the manual then (PDF-Button). :)
To use a different ingame resolution, you need to run my mod manager.
There you can set the resolution you want to use.
The handling of this is also implemented into my mod manager, so you actually have to start AoE using my mod manager too.
Click the AoE Image behind the resolution option and after changing your desktop accordingly, the AoE Launcher will be started just like normal.
i can see the mod entry in the worshop manager. but when i play th game, resoution is still small.
Sometimes Steam is a bit laggy with downloading mods - but this seems to be no problem for you.
When Steam download a workshop element, this element is not shown individually, Steams download tab just gets a 'Downloadable Content' entry. I assume that is your 1 entry you mention.
When you run AoE after that download finished, you should be able to see the mod entry in the ingame workshop manager (accessable through the menu button of the same caption).
Downloaded mods are enabled by default normally though.
So you don't need to run AoE itself to use it beside getting easier access to its download folder.
By default the path is: C:\Steam\SteamApps\workshop\content\221380\195195570.
In case you installed Steam somewhere else, just edit the path accordingly.
You actually can use the mod manager from that directory, but I highly recommend to copy all the folders content into a new folder somewhere else from where you want to use it.
Then just run the exe and set your prefered resolution (it'S all explained in detail in the manual).
Just be sure to actually save the set resolution and run AoE through my mod manager for the resolution beeing taken into account. :)
I actually never really used smaller resolutions, but I would have thought so too for larger resolutions result in smaller assets too.
But I suppose they aren't actually downscaled - so using a smaller resolution just makes the visible area smaller at some point then.
Sorry this feature was no help to you then. :(
Have fun gaming! :)
Nevertheless, thank you!
'The Start AoE' button is the larger AoE icon behind the resolution and band aid buttons - they are just all shown borderless so they don't look weird overlapping each other. :)
Clicking it, my tool will first change your desktop, and then start steam if neccessary, then AoEs launcher.
After shutting down AoE, my mod manager will reset your desktop. If for some reason this can't happen (mod manager closed, ctd in AoE, ...), my tool will ask you about this the next time you run it - so your desktop settings aren't lost then.
I did try to check the manual and read that PDF. I do see the AoE icon that I can click that shows resolutions, (the same one that has the bandaid icon appear on it), but I'm not sure how to apply them. I click the check mark, close the launcher, and open AoE on steam and the resolution is always the same. Am I supposed to close the mod manager and open it normally afterward, or is there a way to run AoE from the manager?
normaly all you need to do, should be to click on the grayed out desktop icon on the right side of the 'Start AoE' button. Then to choose your prefered ingame resolution from the dropdown box that gets displayed beneath the desktop icon and last to click the check button on the right side of that dropdown box.
Only this last button click tells my mod manager that this is in fact the new resolution you want to use now (so an accidental mouse wheel scroll does not change it for example).
Without clicking it, mod manager will use the default resolution which is your current desktop resolution and therefore you won't see any changes ingame.
Did you do all of these steps?
If so, can you send me the log file in there at aoe-modmanager@web.de?
I'm also getting the error that the proper files used by AoE2HD could not be found. Can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.
Any suggestions on what additional features could be usefull?
In case you are referring to the mod I uploaded, I didn't do so because of the terrains it contains. Just the soundtrack would be no problem.
The update should start automatically on your next startup.
(It would show you another error if it wasn't able to access that insormation at all.)
I made some changes to the intial check routines and will upload the version this evening (I'll leave in a few minutes).
You can check for the install path in your registry is correct in the meantime though.
At the command line enter regedit and then enter.
It is located in LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Valve\Steam\InstallPath

Nothing appears to be on it. I am using a different drive from C: though.
Nothing is installed on C: anyways.
Here's a picture of it.
