Give me a minute to fire it up and I can setup a short stream to go over it with you.

I've honestly been avoiding it. It took me over 12 hours to sort this thing from the original design and I'm not relishing the idea of doing it all over again... but the method to connect them uses connectors that will be slightly off center of each-other to align the pistons properly. I'll go take a Screenshot of the design at least. The settings for the pistons should be the same as the original model.

I'm having zero success on working out how to connect the projected drill rig (nice work by the way!) with trying to get it to connect to the top piston/projector/connector rig. I don't seem to be able to place the pistons in an order that connects this top most part with the bottom of the assembly.
Any chance you've had time at re-recording teh video?
Ghost  [author] 24 Mar, 2020 @ 6:34pm
I will have to rerecord the setup video. Until that is complete, feel free to ask questions as I may have to toy with it to make sure I have each step correct.
Ghost  [author] 24 Mar, 2020 @ 6:20pm
Initially, it would appear twitch has removed all my videos...
Ghost  [author] 24 Mar, 2020 @ 6:19pm
Lovely. Give me a few, setting up 2 computers atm.
Arygnam 24 Mar, 2020 @ 5:48pm
Just to let you know, your setup videos seem to be down on twitch!

No worries. It shows up if I search using Edge but it doesn't if I use the in game browser. I'm pretty sure it's because it's only a beta and not the full version as it's not saving anything I sub to and the DLC doesn't show up. The other problem could be that we can use experimental mode so no tensor sharing or whatever it's called. I'm hoping someone has an automatic mining design that only uses one piston but I'm not sure if that's possible. One piston is stable but two or more causes it to drill down instead of flat once the drills get heavy. I like building underground or inside mountains so I do a lot of drilling and anything that makes it easier is better than nothing.

Well, just let me know if there are any issues. I get a notification every time someone posts in here so I should reply within a few days, at the most. Unless I'm buried in an RPG, then people may not hear from me for a month, ask my wife lol :P
holden4ever 21 Mar, 2020 @ 12:54pm
Can't find it listed. Will try again after full release.
holden4ever 17 Mar, 2020 @ 6:49pm
I just bought the game so will try it out with the beta later and let you know. The full game doesn't release until 12/4 so it may not work until then. Thanks again.

Uploaded here. Please let me know if the file works as I have no way to test it.
holden4ever 17 Mar, 2020 @ 3:00am
To make them available to XB1 you have to upload them to mod.io. Thanks in advance if you do.
Ghost  [author] 12 Mar, 2020 @ 3:30pm
There are no scripts in this build. As for being available for XBox, I have no idea how to do that. It functions strictly off of timer blocks. There are some necessary world settings and steps to get it working that are explained above and in the video. Please watch the whole video, skipping parts could cause random explosions because Space Engineers. ;P
holden4ever 4 Mar, 2020 @ 4:52am
Is this compatible with the upcoming XB1 version? Vanilla and no scripts? If so can you make it available for us too? I have a pc that can play this but my X is more powerful so I'd rather play on that.

Or 2.5m, it was just enough to get clearance for the merge and connector blocks.
Ghost  [author] 1 Feb, 2020 @ 12:56pm
Did you set the maximum distance for the pistons that extend out from the station? Should be .5 meters if I remember correctly.
skarpeta 1 Feb, 2020 @ 9:17am
BP are damaged (on purpose?). The drills stop each time on the wall

Thanks Ghost. I ended up going admin and copy-pasting it in. It seems to be working now, so I may have been doing something in the building process incorrectly. Not sure.
Ghost  [author] 31 Jan, 2020 @ 11:03pm
Sry for the late reply, haven't looked at steam in a couple days. If the top is not disconnecting it may still be set as a station. Bovin and I had a bit of a run around with that issue. Double check that "Unsupported Stations" is turned off and let me know what step seems to be breaking it.
CaptainMick 29 Jan, 2020 @ 5:16am
Hey Ghost. Sorry to bother you. I am having trouble with my drill. It is not disconnecting from the top. And doesnt seem to to want to weld either. Any help you could give would be awesome. The video you made has really helped so far, but yeah just a bit stuck.
Bovin Khan 5 Jan, 2020 @ 7:38pm
Thanks for the help Ghost! Like he said, make sure "Unsupported Stations" Is off! Don't be a fool like i was!
Ghost  [author] 5 Jan, 2020 @ 7:29pm
Unsupported Stations needs to be off
Ghost  [author] 5 Jan, 2020 @ 6:15pm
The building should stay a station. The bit will automatically become a ship when disconnected from the merge block. But only if it wasn't touching the dirt when pasted. It's a known bug that, so far, only has a work around.
Ghost  [author] 5 Jan, 2020 @ 6:14pm
The only way to fix it is to disconnect the drill completely and change it to a ship grid, but it would then fall down and break. So it's important to make sure the building is touching the ground but the drill is well above.
Bovin Khan 5 Jan, 2020 @ 6:14pm
Ok, so i've repeated the BP above the dirt. It was automatically a static grid, but i did convert it to a ship. Should i leave it as a ship?
Ghost  [author] 5 Jan, 2020 @ 6:13pm
Yes, if the drills are touching the dirt when it's pasted it breaks the bit and makes it a station object, pistons will not act upon the drills if that happens.
Ghost  [author] 5 Jan, 2020 @ 6:12pm
Sorry, the setting is called "unsupported grids".
Bovin Khan 5 Jan, 2020 @ 6:11pm
The merge block was grinded. By static you mean a station?
Ghost  [author] 5 Jan, 2020 @ 6:11pm
Another possibility is world settings. Do you have floating static grids turned on? That might prevent the drill bit from becoming a movable object.
Ghost  [author] 5 Jan, 2020 @ 6:08pm
Did you make sure to disconnect the merge block at the base? Pic doesn't show it from that angle, but something is holding it back at the bottom. How close to the ground did you paste it? Might have been made static if it was touching the dirt.
Bovin Khan 5 Jan, 2020 @ 6:07pm
Yeah just cranked the bottom piston all the way up and nothing.
Bovin Khan 5 Jan, 2020 @ 6:06pm
The connector under the drill is not built. Ijust copy/pasted the BP, then grinded the block you did following your footsteps.
Ghost  [author] 5 Jan, 2020 @ 6:05pm
Also, check the force applied section of the pistons and try adjusting them up if necessary. You shouldn't need to but it's SE.
Ghost  [author] 5 Jan, 2020 @ 6:03pm
How was it built and did the lower connector under the drill get built by accident?
Bovin Khan 5 Jan, 2020 @ 5:55pm
https://imgur.com/a/uC56ktD This is a picture.
Bovin Khan 5 Jan, 2020 @ 5:50pm
Soooo i have a major issue. I am following your video 100% and i get tot eh part at 11:22 when you say the pistons should pull the machine in. Only thing is, the lower piston refuses to go in at all and the upper piston just breaks.
Bovin Khan 5 Jan, 2020 @ 5:07pm
So one small question. DO you know if i was to replace the drills with upgraded drills, or add more, would that mess with the programming in any way?
Bovin Khan 5 Jan, 2020 @ 4:52pm
Working on it right now! Kinda messed up and blew up the bit at first lol! So following your guide second by second this time! Apreciate you taking the time to fix this rig because there is nothing else like it out that!
Ghost  [author] 5 Jan, 2020 @ 3:57pm
Other than a few SE end errors I haven't had an issue with the BP so far. Let me know if anything goes wrong with it and I'll take a look.
Ghost  [author] 5 Jan, 2020 @ 3:56pm
I only connected the bit with a merge block so you don't have to rebuild it in survival. Otherwise there is no difference. It's only to make things a little easier for people playing on servers where they don't have the ability to creative paste BPs.
Bovin Khan 5 Jan, 2020 @ 3:29pm
Ok, so what exactly is the difference in your BP here and the original? Should i use yours or the original?
Bovin Khan 5 Jan, 2020 @ 3:24pm
Watching it now. Sounds really good tho! thanks!
Ghost  [author] 5 Jan, 2020 @ 3:22pm
Sorry about the breathy vid. Between my mic not being setup correctly and a minor sinus infection it's not to my normal quality standards.
Ghost  [author] 5 Jan, 2020 @ 3:05pm
New setup video uploaded. Hopefully you can hear me this time.
Ghost  [author] 5 Jan, 2020 @ 2:30pm
I'm going to stream it direct to my twitch channel if you want to watch and give feedback. Let me know if there's a recording issue?
Ghost  [author] 5 Jan, 2020 @ 2:29pm
The original was working fine as far as I could tell. I only adjusted the BP so the Bit gets saved for Survival. It's not 100% survival friendly but it is functional and only takes about 10 minutes or so to setup.
Bovin Khan 5 Jan, 2020 @ 2:17pm
No problem. I'm extremly sad to see the original not working. Can you upload your fully working bp with the fixes already? Would save people a lot of time.
Ghost  [author] 5 Jan, 2020 @ 2:07pm
I'll make another, sry about that. The settings on my mic for OBS were messed up because I got a new PC.
Bovin Khan 4 Jan, 2020 @ 8:20pm
100% Cannot even hear you on your video at all....
