Very nice remake of some classic maps. The first map I solved in a reasonable time, but the second room completely stumped me. Turns out I just went the wrong logical path while in the exit room. Very sneaky! Faved!

Very pleasant pair of puzzles - I appreciated how compact they were. I enjoyed the end of the second room, where a little more laser swapping is necessary at the end than expected

@Mr Fab Thank you very much for the video! It was fun to watch you solve both puzzles. I still have a few of your videos in my watch-later list - maybe I can get around to watching them this Christmas break :D
Mr Fab 26 Dec, 2022 @ 12:26am
Two good puzzles with some good logic !

very epic

@bullfrog Haha I'm glad you still like both puzzles! And wow, you're almost finished with replaying all your favourited maps - amazing!
bullfrog 20 Oct, 2020 @ 2:03am
I got to the exit thinking "that was not as difficult as I remember it", the realised there was another puzzle xD Both still excellent puzzles.
Mikeastro  [author] 9 Oct, 2020 @ 10:04am
@kwinten Yes, that is a known exploit that is hard to prevent, but fortunately it is nearly impossible to pull it off consistently! Of course, you might have got lucky :] I'm glad you enjoyed it!
kwinten 9 Oct, 2020 @ 9:45am
i think i did cheat on the first chamber :
i put the reflective cube close to the white panel in which the laser bump on, i go up, then i displace a little the cube with the funnel that i stop at the right moment
this doesn't remove the fact that the 2 maps are pleasant to play !
nock 21 Aug, 2020 @ 3:25pm
Great couple of maps. Took me a while to see the first one and then despite having played the original of the second, still made a meal of it. Great remakes tho Mike :)

@BehindPortal Thanks for playing :D The first room was actually also an Enigmatic map, but it is a bit harder to recognise :P Glad you enjoyed!
BehindPortal 24 Mar, 2020 @ 7:09am
ohh man first room stumped me, but finally solved. second room is enigmatic map which i played recent, so no problem to solve. :p2blue:fav:p2cube::p2orange:
Mikeastro  [author] 3 Feb, 2020 @ 3:24am
@bullfrog Thanks :] Yeah that minute exploit had already been pointed out to me one, but it's such a small thing that I don't think it's really worth patching. I'm happy to hear that you enjoyed this one!
bullfrog 2 Feb, 2020 @ 11:01pm
You have taken two already excellent puzzles and improved on them, but without distracting from what made the original so good, in fact the opposite, which is no mean feat in my book. Thumbs up and added to favourites.
bullfrog 2 Feb, 2020 @ 9:58pm
I don’t know if this really counts as an exploit in the first room, but I thought I’d let you decide: exploit ?
Mikeastro  [author] 1 Feb, 2020 @ 2:09pm
@Spider_Dawg Thanks for playing. And yeah, it's not really possible to really eliminate that unintended solution to the first room. It can work on very rare occasions, but as you experienced, it's really unreliable. And haha good catch in the second room. I should consider fixing that, thanks for the video :] I'm glad you liked the map overall
Spider_Dawg 1 Feb, 2020 @ 1:25pm
Another really cool puzzle, although I solved each part with unintended solutions. Part 1 was the same as @可砸's posted solution, I had placed the redirection cube right next to the laser, and then just walked across the button which moved it just enough to hit the catcher . Hey, that's not unheard of as an intended method, but I couldn't do it again after many attempts. Second part I simply had a slightly different method of getting the cube past the first fizzler, although I had earlier done it like everyone else but went back and tried something different after stalling for a while. https://youtu.be/eMGn2bP5JkI

@Jade BGE Thanks for playing! It's nice to hear from you again :] I'm glad you liked it
Jade BGE 24 Jan, 2020 @ 12:01pm
Perfectly elegant. Thank you.
Mikeastro  [author] 21 Jan, 2020 @ 3:52pm
@asears16 Thank you for the video :D It was very interesting to watch, as usual :] You solved everything intended. And yeah, the second one has a surprisingly diabolical solution. It can be quite tricky to see
asears16 21 Jan, 2020 @ 2:53pm
I really enjoyed these puzzles, Mike! They were both fun and challenging. I spent an embarassingly long time figuring out how to reach the exit in the second puzzle.

Mikeastro  [author] 19 Jan, 2020 @ 10:33pm
@jgaultney Thanks for playing! Glad you liked it. Removing the gap is easier said than done because of the way things are aligned, but well spotted about the stairs. I'll have to change some things again then
jgaultney 19 Jan, 2020 @ 8:02pm
I finally got back to this one.:) Great pair of puzzles! :bigups: Oddly, I found the first puzzle harder
to solve than the second. o.0
I saw that you've made changes to fix that nasty portal shot through the gap above
the fizzler but it's still possible from the stairs near the funnel.
Why not remove the gap, or am I missing something?
Mikeastro  [author] 14 Jan, 2020 @ 12:40pm
@Pikajew Thanks :D
Lorefunder 14 Jan, 2020 @ 12:20pm
Amazing. Absolute slamtacular
Mikeastro  [author] 12 Jan, 2020 @ 5:18am
@hub If portals existed in real life, you wouldn't be pushed out when it closes. But you are right, let us agree to disagree.
Inherently there is nothing wrong with relying on these kinds of things to reach the exit door. I just personally prefer to outsmart the map creator when playing a map, not just to reach the exit by using all kinds of tricks. This is a puzzle game, after all.
For what it's worth, I also don't care about bunnyhopping or cube jumping. If people want to reach the exit that way, they are free to do so. That is not the challenge I am presenting, and there wouldn't be a way to prevent any of these things anyway.
Anyway, thanks for playing.
hub 12 Jan, 2020 @ 4:54am
@Mikeastro The game tries to move you out of a portal when it closes. Isn't it a logical thing? If no, well, then all bets are off. "it does not make sense in terms of physics..." -- I would say this discussion doesn't make sense. It's a good moment to stop it.
Mikeastro  [author] 12 Jan, 2020 @ 3:30am
@hub To me reportalling is a glitch. It basically kills every puzzle based on momentum and gaining height and it is execution based, not logic based. I also disagree that it is logical; it does not make sense in terms of physics, it is merely a remnant of how the game is programmed. Of course you are free to disagree. Were you also able to find the real solution?
hub 12 Jan, 2020 @ 1:23am
@Mikeastro This is your map and you can do whatever you want. But your rationale does not hold water. Bunnyhopping [wiki.sourceruns.org] is not a glitch! It is just a movement technique witch is based on source engine feature, bla-bla-bla, no problem. Object Jumping [wiki.sourceruns.org] is not a glitch! It is just based on... on what? No, no, no, it's just a trick which can help to climb anywhere, or to jump big distances, no problem. But Reportaling [wiki.sourceruns.org] is classified as a glitch, despite it is based on a very logical thing. Looks like a bureaucracy ;/
jandlml 11 Jan, 2020 @ 4:28pm
well thanks mikaestro looks like i was doing something highly unnecessary which i tend to do. always making it much harder than it has to be lol
jandlml 11 Jan, 2020 @ 3:51pm
ok i will try again thanks for letting me know
Mikeastro  [author] 11 Jan, 2020 @ 3:25pm
@hub Thank you for the video. Reportalling is a glitch and therefore I will not fix it. Did you also manage to find the real solution?
hub 11 Jan, 2020 @ 11:58am
The second room is skippable: https://youtu.be/M7-K7G_UKdI
Mikeastro  [author] 10 Jan, 2020 @ 10:36pm
@jandlml It's been done (I hope, because yesterday I started doubting I really understood what you meant)
jandlml 10 Jan, 2020 @ 10:06pm
ok let me know when you and i will go back and try again
Mikeastro  [author] 10 Jan, 2020 @ 4:02am
@jandlml Thanks for playing! If I understand correctly what you did in the first room, that must have been a pain to pull off! I'll fix that, thanks
jandlml 9 Jan, 2020 @ 7:34pm
totally forgot this greatmap! not sure if i got your intended in the first room i used the un portal surface on the floor to point the laser cube at the activator
Mikeastro  [author] 9 Jan, 2020 @ 9:57am
@•‹†ρđ› ĐūšР2ķ• Thanks :] I'm glad you enjoyed it. I'll fix that nasty shot very soon
•‹†ρđ› ĐūšР2ķ• 9 Jan, 2020 @ 9:12am
Cool map Mike! I had the same feeling about that gap above the fizzler as Leomievs.
Mikeastro  [author] 8 Jan, 2020 @ 3:41pm
@Leomievs Thank you! Yeah, that horrible shot was recently pointed out to me in the Russian discussion below. I think I'll fix that very soon, but I've been a little bit busy for the last few days. I'm glad you liked it :]
Leo 8 Jan, 2020 @ 3:32pm
Fun map with great logic, and a really nice design as well! That last sequence of moves in the 2nd room felt very Enigmatic-like and was highly satisfying. Anyway, great work! I did find a nasty portal shot in the 1st room though, be prepared to be horrified: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1963741580

@Rain Thank you very much! I agree with you on the difficulty. I'm glad you are enjoying my music ^_^
µ 7 Jan, 2020 @ 4:19pm
Good map! Good design! Difficulty seems to be medium.
I think the songs in your map give you more focus when you solve the puzzle.
Mikeastro  [author] 7 Jan, 2020 @ 12:41pm
@hfmanson Thanks for playing! I'm glad you liked it. Just to shamelessly self-advertise, I have a couple more maps in my workshop in case you are interested :]

@Denis [Rus] Спасибо за разъяснение. Это раздражает, я посмотрю, смогу ли я это исправить. Надеюсь, вам больше нравится первая комната, зная, что вы не должны этого делать :]
