Sadly, this mod is still broken. Sometimes snakes will just not show up for the shearing and grooming station, and to fix this you must relog. The problem is that this is very common.

Very cool mod I must say! I really appreciate the fact that your code is open source as well, I'm trying to get into modding and with a mod like this having such a variety of features, it's a perfect mod to pick apart!

The snakes are fantastic! Making metal a bit easier to obtain especially early in game! Pairing this with the butcher station mod makes food early game much easier, especially for me since I'm not too good at the game yet! Keep it up yo!

Anyone else having trouble with the roller snakes not being sheared? I am pretty sure I have the ranch set up properly but even though I have snakes at 100% scale growth the shearing station says not critters available.

hi i think the game not recognising tough roller snakes as my baby hatch farm along with stone hatches(stones get drop off) the dupes are not taking them to their own breeding pen.i have to manually ask them to wrangle the tough snakes

In less than 50 cycles, there is already a few hundreds rollersnakes.

Do you really want to visit your drowning room practically every 5 minutes to order your dupes to kill everything in it?

Because as far as I am aware, there is no automatic way of killing critters that don't require dupes operation beyond drowing, starving, cold and cooking (In both case could take longer than the cold/hot approach due to very slow Heat Transfer)

@xXanrezxXx I already told that, the creator replied that they don't drown because it would make a "too easy source of food", nevermind that rollersnakes are basically the exact same as hatches, but twice as fast in every way and hatch ranching is an easy source of food.

OF COURSE SOMETHING THAT IS TWICE AS BETTER AS A GOOD SOURCE OF FOOD WOULD BE BETTER.

I have an idea for two more biomes i might as well just mention it here if anyone is interested.
1) Crystal biome: -superhot, soaks up all types of water that grows crystals, outputs acids that eats rock, crystal can be refined for fiber optic cables and prism that can bend light, a new type of power capacitor, tesla relay that can ozone air.
2)monster biome or flesh biome: a biome that eats all organic things and breathes oxygen. grows red cell flesh and tenticles. very dangerous to dupes but can be harvested to cook meat.

I found out that rollers snakes have the same ratios as an hatch.

8 per ranch.
1 unpowered incubator for 5 snake.
Lay an egg every 3 cycles.
Live for 50 cycles.

So, it lay eggs 2 time faster than hatches to compensate the fact that they live 2 time less longer than hatches. But it make them a better source of meat than hatches, now to compensate that, roller snakes can't drown and are born at 50C. But you can still break their eggs to get food or kill them manually. So they are still a good source of meat.

I'm playing with this mod for a while now and I have to say, I'm enjoying it alot. Getting Gold Amalgam and Steel by shearing the rattles of snakes is a cool concept and, if you don't overdo it, balanced enough. If you want to have a map filled over and over with oil wells, this is the map for you. If you have the water to spare, the spiky succulents got you covered.

However:

The Roller Snakes lay an egg every 3 cycles while a hatch does so in 7. Putting it in BBQ, a snake produces just a little bit more than a hatch over time. And for what the Roller Snakes already offer... that is a little too much. ^_^

Nevertheless, this is a very fun mod to play around with. Thank you for sharing it with us here on Steam. :)

Took a bit to realize these little rolly pollies don't drown. Now I have a huge pool full of snek and I'm afraid to thread on them.

Also to actual feedback - is it possible to have the desert biome include a few lead tiles within?

Thanks to pholith and pope snowball for figuring out what was causing incompatibility. The not drowning is intentional. They are not designed to be easy food source. Either use eggs to make omlette for automatic disposal or wait for death by old age. Cataca I think the reproduction rate is working right, but that screencapture sure is silly!

I only recently introduced them to my evolution chamber and there is already about 200 of them.

I think the issue is that the snakes are not starving, so they survive much longer than say, my drecko overflow.

Really love the mod, currently playing on the Emptera world from the workshop and the renewable source of metal is absolutely vital to my expansion. One question though, is the rate of reproduction working as intended? Not that i am complaining, but i started breeding the snakes some ~100 cycles back maybe, and i am left with this:

The issue may be that both adding LightBugOrange to desert world types? I haven't had a chance to look at how the they are added: can a check be done when adding the critters (from the YAWL file is it?) so that if they've been added already either don't add them, or edit the pre-existing critter.

I'm having a gas with the Moon map on Solar System Worlds by the way!

滚子蛇以沙子和原始矿物质为食。他们排泄煤炭的效率略低于孵化率。但是,滚子蛇具有丰富的金属拨浪鼓,可以在像Dreckos的剪切台上剪掉。他们每隔两个周期就会产生这种嘎嘎声,从而提供一致的金属来源。

no. unfortunately is limitation of the game's animation system. in theory it's fixable but it would require rewriting the animation controller for moving critters which is too hard

It would be possible to make them not drown. But I wanted to make them like pokeshells and be able to survive underwater. I didn't want them to be too similar to the existing critters. So a bit like hatches in diet, kinda like dreckos with shearing, and like pokeshells with the water breathing. Hope that helps.

Also it should be updated for the latest update where mods changed to .net v4

This mod is an absolute must for worlds without gold amalgam. The snakes provide enough to prevent the overheating headache we deal with from geysers. Aqua bulbs have also been a life saver, with the cactus as a neat addition to the farming lineup.

There's a bit of everything to enhance each area of the game.

Although, I'd be all for a new snake that creates wolframite and would rather the arctic cold unlike its other brethren. Having to relocate their eggs before they die from the heat when they hatch is an idea too.
