Now, this is my opinion, but if you ACTUALLY model your own OC model, or at the very least have someone else make it for you, then you're already ten times better then the OC recolor users. The time it took to make the model on your own/with someone will show. When it's just a Override Materials character(s), then I hate you and all the cells in your fucking body. BUT, if it's just a temporary replacement until the actual model is made/finished, then that's fine.
Also, no one likes the released OC models that are just Override Materials of someone else's character.
