Global Warming

Really cool idea, but not great in execution. You'll get messages about terrain changes that don't happen, and the global warming index can't handle larger maps with more civs, more than five or six factories mapwide can push it to 100% immediately. If this could get recoded and updated, I think it'd be a must-have, and it's a feature I wish they'd kept in vanilla.

I remember the original Civ on SNES had this. I loved watching the map change every time I built a new factory.

This would be really good if "flooding" actually replaced tiles with water

"Global Warming is fake" I hate gamers

This mod seemed to work but many of the stated events occurred in really wierd and unrealistic ways. I could not identify coastline changes even where it said there were some. Just as bad - the mod mostly just creates random resource changes - some go away, some appear - and the changes do not seem to have any realism vis a vis what we know about global warming. If you can change what comes and goes, it would be more realistic - some deserts might get more rain whle many plains may become deserts. The description says it will do stuff like that, but it doesn't.
It also should have migrations of people (or barbarian creation) as people are displaced from lost agricultural resources or coast land. Those migrations then would put a strain on civilizations that are already struggling with resource instability. That would make global warming really bite. Finally, there needs to be a way to counter global warming, like there was in Civ III (or was it Civ II?).

@ Radical Islam - It isn't working for me either.
Alterd-Rushnano 8 Feb, 2018 @ 9:37pm
I downloaded the mod through the old path. And came up with a another way way to use this.
framedarchitecture, I want to apply your mod to Beyond earth!

Global warming is fake.
connor.mcb 26 Sep, 2017 @ 6:23am
You should combine this with the reforrestation mod, which would reduce global warming levels
Someone Else 25 Jul, 2017 @ 9:45pm
Maybe a meteorologist or weather station would increase this mod's depth even further

Can it completely melt the Poles?
Senorisgrig 18 Jun, 2017 @ 11:55am
nice this adds a bit more depth to my civ games
TopGun❂ 16 Jun, 2017 @ 6:11pm
You say this mod is compatible with any 'mod, as long as it includes the industrial era" yet my game is crashing and I've only subscribed to your mods..

Now can the world completely dry up?
Winston Churchill Gaming 5 Apr, 2017 @ 2:35pm
You know what you should do, you should make it so that the world starts freezing over at 90%. Like an ice age. That be cool.
HurriedHond 20 Mar, 2017 @ 9:26am
@framedarchitecture There is one resolution active similar to that. I'll test it out when I can. Thanks for the response!
framedarchitecture  [author] 19 Mar, 2017 @ 6:43pm
@HurriedHond I've never experienced that myself, so I don't have any advice... Actually it could be the resolutions that boost artist/musician rates....
katie kat 19 Mar, 2017 @ 7:51am
just because volcanoes also cause climate change doesnt mean humans dont also
HurriedHond 12 Feb, 2017 @ 6:47am
I've noticed that I can't use the global warming resolutions in the World Congress, because it is blocked by another resolution. Do you have any idea which one blocks them?
framedarchitecture  [author] 11 Feb, 2017 @ 2:44pm
This game is based on the idea that humans have an effect on the world, and this mod follows and develops that premise. Clearly, the mod doesn't say anything about non-human impacts on the game world....
Hemlock 11 Feb, 2017 @ 2:36pm
"As soon as anyone enters the industrial age" Boi, valcanoes caused global warming before we were around, it's not the industrial age's fault.

@Headshotkill Not exactly a groaner... Glad you found a way to adjust the mod to your needs.
Headshotkill 17 Jan, 2017 @ 11:41am
@framedarchitecture, did you seriously just make that pun?
framedarchitecture  [author] 17 Jan, 2017 @ 6:35am
@Hello, name is Antman It may cause your computer to overheat. ^^
fab171 16 Jan, 2017 @ 6:57pm
Is this mod completely safe to download?
Headshotkill 7 Jan, 2017 @ 6:56am
After searching through the modfiles I found something that looks like an options file.
In it I've found tech's, buildings and terrain types with a value behind them, most things that would intuitivly accelerate global warming have positive values behind them while things that would slow it down have negative values behind them.

On thing to note, fallout seems to be by far the biggest accelerator to global warming with a value of 20,0; only followed up by the manufactory improvement which has a value of 5,0 and ironworks which has a value of 4,0.

So it seems fallout already contributes to global warming contrary to what the mod's description would tell you.

For others if you want to configure you have to go into the mod and look up the file:
GW_Globals.lua

Is there a way to change this mod so nuclear fallout actually speeds up global warming?

is there anywhere where I can find info about the mechanics, seems like all the warming just disappeared when i researched ecology

thanks
󠀡󠀡 24 Jul, 2016 @ 12:03am
Great mod, though I wish it had more devestating effects (also global warming doesn't exist)
Raboot 2 Jul, 2016 @ 6:12am
there should be a thing where eventually the global warming kickstarts an ice age.
btw that would actually happen. algae would grow from the emmisions, then there would be so much algae that it takes lots of greenhouse gases. it then takes a lot of the greenhouse gases causing the world to go in a glacial ice age.
Jive Turkey 11 Jun, 2016 @ 4:10am
oh, I like this...I'm going to destroy the world with my evil capialist fracking industrial complexes! Muwaahaha!

wtf
framedarchitecture  [author] 15 Apr, 2016 @ 11:10pm
@Bot Cody Nah, you probably have some other mod installed that changes the eras or perhaps the "Enhanced User Interface". But the issue is not a conflict between my mods. I'm sorry this has happened, but you surely understand that I cannot be responsible for conflicts between mods I have had no hand in making.
Bot Cody 15 Apr, 2016 @ 3:18pm
I'm not a modder, but it seems to be a problem with the changes to the UI, specifically when I (attempt to) enter the city screen.
Bot Cody 15 Apr, 2016 @ 3:16pm
@framedarchitecture I've done some testing, I haven't seen any problems when the health and plague mod is uninstalled, but when it and the global warming mod are installed, I have the issue I stated previously. The issue does not exist when I don't have your health and plague mod installed (the only mods I have installed are your mods). I wish these mods would work but unfortunately I'll have to find alternative mods if I'm the only one experiencing the issue.
framedarchitecture  [author] 14 Apr, 2016 @ 8:12pm
@Bot Cody That's not being caused by the combination of those two mods. Some other mod is in the mix, there.... I say this with full confidence, as I have been using those two mods together -- indeed ALL my component mods together -- for literally years.
Bot Cody 14 Apr, 2016 @ 4:49pm
@framedarchitecture Okay, but that doesn't help the fact that I am unable to press 'choose production' when both mods are in use.
