I really like your mod. I want to point out that when using Demon Fang and Ripper blast I get a lua error message. I do not have your commando mod installed though. so no conflict there.

You need to rename them to "Stand", so - it will be Jojo reference :emofdr:

Love the class, but you have to disable it when playing temporal warden, it break blade weaving somehow

I keep getting an error whenever I use concentrate more than once.

Lua Error: /engine/interace/actortalents.lua:322: /engine/interace/actortalents.lua:295:/engine/interace/actortalents.lua:162: /data-stoic/effects.lua:25: Attempt to index global 'eff' (a nil value)

It may have something to do with me using minimalist UI, I'm not sure if you need more it's an easily reproduceable bug for me, it has no real effect on gameplay, other than it continuously coming up whenever I use concentrate.

Seems this was breaking blade weaving talents switching weapons for temporal warden.

Is there any chance of seeing this class being added to vanilla ToME?
It truly feels like one of the best designed and balanced classes this game has to offer.

Sorry, that was a bug that would have been caught if I had spent more than ten seconds testing the previous release. Just posted a fix.

I would love to see this mod updated, cause it's broken for me this patch. this is one of my favourite modded classes, i love the flavor of it!

I thoroughly enjoy this class so far except for two things: Focus is hard to build up for a battle before getting killed. And there seems to be a bit too many actives. Off the top of my head, some sort of Battle Furvor passive could remedy the focus problem. The passive could be as simple as an automatic, but lesser, use of the Concentration skill each time you hit a new target. Perhaps it causes you to apply a status effect on the target when you deal or take damage that doesn't allow you to gain focus from them again till it's over. It could also require a period of not taking damage to activate. The 'many actives' thing, I feel is just a matter of dropping ones that don't fit very well or could be mixed together. The action economy hurts at times. Alternatively, could add a method of reducing all skills' speed.

Draw Stance will likely always suffer from the same problem as Shield Wall in that it trivializes the early game due to most of the enemies pre-Daikara being melee-oriented and having no way to get around a player stacking armor/defense. I never got around to adding a penalty when I removed the requirement to use a one-handed weapon, so now activating it with a two-hander reduces your melee multiplier by 25%. This should help when enemies get it somewhat because they'll always have greatswords.

Hey again.
Assuming you haven't nerfed it recently, Draw Stance is ridiculously strong. Once you get a few talent levels in it, you're all but invulnerable in close combat, as you completely nullify the attacks of your enemies and get free damage on them in return. I love it because it's great... but I also hate it because it makes everything so easy!

I actually only realized how good it was when a Rare spawned with it, and completely wrecked me. I managed to escape and try again to kill it about fifty times, but eventually had to just leave. The only ways to avoid getting wrecked by the ability is to either stun the enemy (which is hard, because the sustain gives stun resist anyways), surround the enemy with multiple allies (which isn't happening unless you're a summoner), or use non-melee attacks (which is a problem for any melee character). Enemies with this ability are crazy!

Still working on it, but so far Dex seems to be working out nicely, I've been getting overly ambitious, and paying the price, but overall succeeding when I take my time.

Swallowtail blade is both more useful, and also properly procs on special attacks (like biting eel) which now hit 4 times (at reduced damage) which is just awesome.

I am still unsure of which of the two generic talents I prefer awareness or blindsight, but I think that's good as it means both are acceptable, and seem to work equally well as options. (Blindsight is awesome thematically though)

I will continue testing, as this is undoubtedly my favorite mod added class, favorite martial, and the only martial class I really enjoy playing (arcane blade just doesn't cut it for me) Doombringer comes in as a close second which is saying alot about the stoic as doombringer is very strong, but just lacks the thematic awesomeness and mechanics of the stoic.

Yeah, the Dexterity side of things could use some work. For now I buffed a few talents in the Dexterty trees and changed the Swallowtail Blade multiplier to be based on Dex, in addition to some tweaks (including more starting Focus) that should hopefully make the early game easier. I've considered a custom weapon category or dynamic damage modifier, but for now I want to see if I can get them on par with Strength builds without the raw attack power.

After playing again I can reiterate that, after 17 attempts the stoic is a very nice class, with alot of potential, but is hindered by a pretty difficult early game, particularly if you go for a dex build since there is not a weapon for it (that fits thematically or all that well damage wise) I recommend the addition of a starting katana style weapon with even dex/str scaling (or maybe just as a new weapon in general).

That being said I'm sure the class gets alot better once you get past level 12-20, but that's a big barrier to overcome, comparatively a brawler or berserker can easily reach those levels.

I am however a terrible player despite my like...8 years of experience with tome now, so feel free to disregard my comments relating to difficulty.

All in all the Stoic is amazing and I must say thank you copinski for creating it.

After trying it pretty extensively today, I can conclude that if anything it's abit underpowered, though the Stoic is flavorwise the most awesome martial class.

Yep, problem's with the Commando addon, due to a minor change in ToME 1.3.0 I failed to take into account. I'll update that addon shortly.

Alright, so far, so good. I've been playing with a good couple mods on, and no conflict with Stoic class. As far as I can tell, the conflict is actually with your commando class. I could be totally wrong, but that's my best guess without having access to the computer on which I had the error.

I'll do that in about 6 days - I am out of country atm and away from the computer that I got the error on. In the meanwhile, I'll test it out on a seperate computer that has no other mods loaded.

Also, the error could be due to an addon compatibility issue, so if you can give a copy of the ones you were running with the error report, that'd be helpful.

No, those go to DarkGod. I need the error with its stack trace - you can find it in the te4_log.txt file in the directory with the program as long as you haven't re-launched the game since getting the error. Copy it to pastebin or the like and link it here.

Only error I've noticed so far is one that pops up whenever I use Demon Fang. I pressed the 'send' button on the error window - does it get sent to you?

Yeah, the class hasn't been updated since ToME 1.0.5 so it's doubtlessly broken in more than one way. The overhaul has had a lot of stops and starts but progress is being made.

Guided Strike has given me an error every time I use it. The move does appear to actually execute, but unfortunately it does not go on cooldown and forces an 'error' message to appear every time. I love this class, so I hope you fix this soon!

An update's coming, eventually, that'll revamp a bunch of things to give them better defenses and more interesting talent synergies. Although I'm probably going to finish up the class that lets you play as A Rough Approximation of Rambo first.

Has some errors regarding when enemy units receive this class. My suggestion would be to either fix them or simply disallow enemy NPC's from obtaining this class.
