Hey man, what happened to wegh?
Morgul 17 Nov, 2023 @ 3:57pm
Yeah... this mod was great, I miss it for WH3
I hope someday you will consider porting it over
Tseims 24 Apr, 2023 @ 11:07pm
Any chance of a port over to 3?
Lorghul  [author] 27 Jan, 2022 @ 1:03pm
Yup. Heroes who are spawned at campaign start will always have default skill trees, I have to delete them and spawn a new hero (with a different name) to fix it. That Wight is a dedication to a CA developer who died, Kevin Lloyd, and CA requested modders not change him.
Lorghul  [author] 8 Sep, 2021 @ 12:54pm
@jkelly4590 At the top it says "Total War: WARHAMMER II> Workshop > Lorghul's Workshop". You can click on the "lorghul's workshop" part.

@GerarD MensoiF Nah it's very obnoxious to mod the skilltrees, and lords would take way more work than modding the hero trees did.
GerarD MensoiF 8 Sep, 2021 @ 11:56am
Awesome mod! Can't play whitout
can you do the same for lords ?
PecklistheWise 1 Sep, 2021 @ 3:12pm
Have you made any other mods? Your steam profile is set to private
Lorghul  [author] 26 Jul, 2021 @ 7:16am
@Eeporgorg That'll be from the fix I did a few days ago to stop eshin crashing. I think I got a fix for both, had to rewrite some stuff, but it should be fine now.
Eeporgorg 26 Jul, 2021 @ 12:31am
I'm running into an issue where my level 2 hero gets a skill point after gaining exp from the clan eshin shadowy dealings mechanic.
Ming Da Merciless 24 Jul, 2021 @ 11:44pm
great mod!
Lorghul  [author] 14 Jul, 2021 @ 6:18pm
Updated, please scream at me if something isn't working
dbdonlon 6 Jul, 2021 @ 7:43am
This mod is brilliant.

Gotcha, name's New_Denim on discord, I've sent a request
Lorghul  [author] 23 Jun, 2021 @ 6:39am
If you've got any questions about skill trees I'd be happy to answer them, to the best of my ability. You can ask here or just ask me directly via discord, might be more convenient. Discord id;

Hey bud, so I asked earlier about lords, and well, since then I've made a mod to replace all skill trees.. Well, I was wondering if you'd be up for helping me developing it into something unique akin to this as it seems you have the experience and knowledge to truly make something unique
AngelPhoenix 8 Jun, 2021 @ 7:12am
Actually now that I think about it, I guess I could mod this so that heroes get like 20 points over their last 2 or 3 levels or so, and get a generic skill dump mod and put all the extra points for your tress in there, on the honor system lol
AngelPhoenix 8 Jun, 2021 @ 7:10am
Oh, that's really neat! I understand. I think I can live with it. Love this mod. Guess I need something that would magically generate points for specific characters for some gold. Know of anything like that? In any case, thanks for this mod, it's actually perfect for me overall. I LOVE spending lots of skill points and getting new skills with mods for my lords, but HATE the same for heroes. Really great work on this. And thanks for responding!
Lorghul  [author] 8 Jun, 2021 @ 7:01am
@AngelPhoenix Unique heroes and regular heroes use the same skillpoint progression table, so if you change one you change the other. My mod doesn't alter the vanilla skill progression, instead it has a script that takes any excess skillpoints and automatically spends them on hidden skills that do nothing.

So, for example, if you mod the game so that all heroes get 2 skillpoints every time they level up my script will spend the first skillpoint on a hidden dummy skill and do nothing with the second skillpoint. So you'll have too many skillpoints.

Unfortunately I didn't write the script with mods that add more skillpoints in mind so you'd have to rewrite a bunch of the script to make it work properly.
AngelPhoenix 8 Jun, 2021 @ 6:33am
Okay, I thought so. Are the tables needed to change the unique heroes' skill point progression present in your mod? Asking cause I like to have enough skill points to max everything by level 40 (or 50) and usually use other mods to do that but obviously can't here.

I had a tough time makeshifting another mod to drop the hero modifications so I could still have level 60 lords with some extra skills and skills points without messing this mod up but it's worth it! Last issue is to add just a few more points to the heroes that don't get your new trees.
Lorghul  [author] 8 Jun, 2021 @ 5:57am
@AngelPhoenix That's correct
AngelPhoenix 8 Jun, 2021 @ 5:20am
This doesn't do anything to unique heroes line Henri or Ariel right? They just get 1 SP per level like usually…?
ioci 13 Apr, 2021 @ 6:10am
What a great Mod this one is! Thank you for sharing it! With this mod on, finally I don't have to level up every hero one by one after every battle just for some insignificant stats improvement.

You see, I'm one of those TW players who don't like CA introducing skill tree mechanic for characters since Shogun2, but your mod actually making the skill tree feature not only playable, but also very enjoyable. The combinations in between the new skills is fun to play around with. And many heros' background traits are now engagingly relevant when making decision on how to build them.

10/10 quality!
jojo_star 5 Apr, 2021 @ 6:26pm
thanks
Ragmir 20 Mar, 2021 @ 7:18am
i loved the idea of this mod, my problem with him is that looks way to strong for vanilla for my taste, i would love a mod like that for the standard tree line, just for reduce the boring 5 lvlings heroes afther the battle
Lorghul  [author] 10 Mar, 2021 @ 11:14pm
Nope, if a hero doesn't have skill tree in vanilla it won't have one here
Alex the Great 10 Mar, 2021 @ 7:09pm
Does this also add a skill tree system to the green knight?
AbortedMan 14 Feb, 2021 @ 3:21am
Is it possible to make a skill for heroes that increases their "discover under-cities" ability? I play with minimal agent mods and having to run around with like 6 agents to find under-cities is a bit...stupid. It'd be cool if there could be a trait to spec into that specialized a single hero for finding under-cities.
threepwood 18 Jan, 2021 @ 8:44pm
no aborted man those don't stack, if it's a named buff it doesn't stack

only if it's something like "12% reload (hero's army)"
AbortedMan 18 Jan, 2021 @ 5:05pm
Do the Sergeant and Bodyguard ally buffs stack if I have multiple Bodyguard/Sergeant spec'ed heroes next to each other/my lord?
threepwood 17 Jan, 2021 @ 6:38pm
I love this mod so much

I'd be even happier if it was compatible with the dwarf brewmaster mod, but there are so many mods that add heroes and that one is a little more on the cheaty side than many
Lorghul  [author] 20 Dec, 2020 @ 4:27pm
ah did the new system break compatibility? Sorry about that. Uh I'm busy finishing up another complicated mod, I'll take a look at adding an optional respec button somewhere on the ui after I'm done
fireball900 20 Dec, 2020 @ 3:29pm
Could you add a (visible) skillpoint dump skill for the heroes? So that a player *can* use the respec and have it still work as intended?
Mr. Tarzan 10 Dec, 2020 @ 12:19pm
Ah I see, always is more to it than meets the eye. But thanks for the explanation.
Lorghul  [author] 10 Dec, 2020 @ 11:29am
It's more difficult than you might expect. You can't remove levels from a skill afaik, so you'd have to replace every lord skill (or at least all the ones with multiple levels) with a duplicate that only has 1 level, and then reconstruct all the skilltrees with these duplicate skills.

Limiting all the lords to have fewer skillpoints is much easier, just modify character_experience_skill_tiers_table. That is if you don't care about compatibility with other mods that add new lords, such as mixus. If you want compatibility you'd have to do what this mod does, and run a script that detects whenever a lord levels up and then dumps their skillpoints into an invisible dummy skill (that's why you can't use refund mods btw, because you get back all the invisibly spent skillpoints).

It's a fair amount of work to remove a minor annoyance, which is probably why nobody has done it yet.
Mr. Tarzan 10 Dec, 2020 @ 11:04am
Alright, and thanks for the reply.
Just out of curiosity, would the extend of making skill trees for lords be easier, if it just meant replacing the 3 tiers that certain skill have with just the last tier, so that all skills are essentially just one skill point? And then limiting the amount of skill points lords get.
That would essentially mean, that no new skill would have to be made, no balancing in terms of effects.
Lorghul  [author] 9 Dec, 2020 @ 5:20am
Yup someone asked just recently, I'll just copypasta my response;

Doing lords would be too much work unfortunately. There are far more legendary + generic lords than there are types of heroes and their skills are far harder to design and balance because they change the stats of the entire army. Only doing generic lords doesn't feel worth it either, cause you don't use them nearly as often as legendary lords / heroes and because it would make them really weird/imbalanced next to legendary lords with vanilla skilltrees. I would love a version of this mod for lords too, just... so long as I don't have to make it.
Mr. Tarzan 8 Dec, 2020 @ 6:02pm
I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but would you consider making an RPG skill overhaul for lords as well?
Lorghul  [author] 4 Dec, 2020 @ 1:50pm
Excellent. Well that makes a vague amount of sense, I'll have to recreate the myrmidia and duellist's mounts and mount skills from scratch. Should be done either tonight or tomorrow. Thanks for the help guys!
TheStuffyStuff 4 Dec, 2020 @ 1:43pm
Awesome! That fixed the problem!
Lorghul  [author] 4 Dec, 2020 @ 1:32pm
No problem, I'm willing to fix any compatibility issues you guys find between this and other mods, if possible

I've tried changing something else, can you tell me if it fixes things? It's not much of a fix because it'll stop TEB duellists and myrmidia's from equipping their mounts, but if it stops the crashing I'll at least know where to look
TheStuffyStuff 4 Dec, 2020 @ 1:18pm
After doing another clean install of both mods it still crashes on start. I'm using the Kaedrin's mod manager and its updated to the latest version. Thanks for helping us out by the way, its tough going back to the base game when your so used to enjoying a mod like this.
Lorghul  [author] 4 Dec, 2020 @ 12:30pm
Hmm maybe. Ok I've done a full clean of my data folder and loaded only TEB and my mod via CA's mod manager and I get no crashes still.

I have another vague hunch for a fix so I've uploaded that.

Something super important to clarify - you're only loading Southern Realms, Southern Realms Asset Storage, and RPG Skill Overhaul, and it crashes before you reach the main menu? Or when you start a new campaign?
Velg 4 Dec, 2020 @ 11:48am
Hello Lorghul, I have the same problem as StuffyStuff and I redownloaded everything, deleting it from data and from content. I remember hearing that some problems don't apply to the modder, maybe it's one of those?
Lorghul  [author] 4 Dec, 2020 @ 5:34am
@TheStuffyStuff Ah great, that's excellent info. I've updated with a small change that was maybe causing a problem, but that said I still can't replicate the crash. Southern Realms and my mod are working together on my end, I even started a campaign as TEB and spawned an agent and everything looked good.

It's maybe caused by steam not properly downloading my mod or TEB when they updated, this kinda thing has happened before. Unsubscribing doesn't always fix this because it doesn't always delete the old file. Are you using the default mod manager or Kaedrin's mod manager?
TheStuffyStuff 4 Dec, 2020 @ 4:44am
Ok found the problem mod Cataph's Southern Realms crashes on start when this mod is enabled. Redownloaded both just to make sure it wasn't a bad download. Even tested with just those 2 mods enabled and it still crashes.
Lorghul  [author] 4 Dec, 2020 @ 2:02am
@TheStuffyStuff It shouldn't crash with any other mod enabled as far as I'm aware. I just tried it alongside OvN and it didn't crash for me. Have you tried disabling all other mods and it still crashes?
TheStuffyStuff 4 Dec, 2020 @ 12:08am
I crash on start when ever i enable this mod. Is this mod not compatable with OVN lost factions Mod?
Lorghul  [author] 3 Dec, 2020 @ 4:08pm
Oh yes and almost forgot but if you have the Mod Configuration Tool: Reborn installed there's now an option to automatically enable immortality at whatever level you like for both player and ai separately. It's disabled by default
Lorghul  [author] 3 Dec, 2020 @ 3:50pm
Compatibility skilltrees with some other mods have been added;
Cataph's Southern Realms - Myrmidia and Duellist have skilltrees
Deco's Expanded Roster - Savage Boss and Regular Boss have skilltrees
Mixu's Tabletop Lords - Slayer has skilltree (Shadowdancer, Gorehoof and Empire Metal Wizard already had skilltrees)
SFO - Fleetmaster, Shadowdancer, Lost Sons and Wargor have skilltrees (the Slayer and Bloodthirster heroes didn't get skilltrees because they appear to be legendary heroes, please correct me if I'm wrong on this!)
Lorghul  [author] 3 Dec, 2020 @ 3:50pm
Updated for new patch. Some notable changes for this release;

New careers added, and a major balance pass on most every career. Generally speaking careers were simplified and had their negatives removed or reduced in exchange for the positives being weaker. Hopefully it's more balanced now, but changes can be reverted if everyone hates it

New method of applying skilltrees that should increase compatibility with other mods (basically, if another mod tries to add anything to the hero skilltrees, it can't. This should stop this mod and other mods having slap-fights over whose changes get applied)

Just as a test I've changed all the Empire Wizard starting traits. There aren't too many for now, but they're pretty impactful. Also Empire Wizards will be able to train up to Level 4 Wizard now, but only if they have the Talented starting trait
