Im doing a kind of modular truck system, can i make a module for this?
Phroogo 28 Jan, 2024 @ 10:10am
what about a Heavy duty version of this (15 block wide trucks)

hmmm do looks like my truck are joke

This can create some difficulties in the operation of trailers, so if you are using a suspension (especialy hight settings), I recommend using a height of 6 blocks.
In any case, you can download several different trailers and try them out with your truck.

Ok, maybe I was not clear enough about that question.
In the model, you use wheels with no suspension. I prefer wheels with suspension, but suspension makes the vehicle higher.
- > If I build my vehicle with 7 height (the maximum) AND suspension, is that ok?
lexignatov  [author] 1 Feb, 2021 @ 9:54am
1) The pin height is indicated on the gray ruler on the left side of the frame.
TheBrilliantShadow 31 Jan, 2021 @ 3:38pm
A couple of question:
1) How does suspension count? Is it included in the height of the pin? (Suspension is very useful!)
2) Are the cables for Composite and Electricity necessary? Because the Electric Connector already can send both and that would allow for easier pick-up and release of trailers, since you just need to release one pin instead of manualy managing cables. (Cables can still be optical add-on)

The on / off signal for flashing lamps is best transmitted from the tractor.
Bit 14 Jan, 2021 @ 1:36pm
so, weird question, should the blinking bit be in the trailer controller or recieved from the on/off 1/2
Nob-Stop 21 Mar, 2020 @ 5:04am
indeed
lexignatov  [author] 21 Mar, 2020 @ 4:50am
It seems to me that the difference in 1 block is quite acceptable. Such tractors and trailers can ride together, just the trailer will be tilted.
Nob-Stop 21 Mar, 2020 @ 4:37am
if only this system was one block higher if it was it would fit me and my friends trucks

im not complaining this is a cool system you have
Nob-Stop 21 Mar, 2020 @ 3:31am
why do the traliers sit so low?

(i know i late to the party)

@Tesla 11x11x27 for TEU (20 ft) is close to ideal because it retains the n * 2 + 1 = 2n rule when scaling. 11x11x23 also satisfies this rule, approaching the actual size, but with these sizes the TEU looks ridiculous and less load will do.
lexignatov  [author] 6 Mar, 2020 @ 9:18am
Tesla, I can’t understand - what question or statement do you want to say? This standart is 11 blocks wide and different long. The height must be different, like in the real word - 11, 12 or 13 blocks. Whats wrong?
Tesla 5 Mar, 2020 @ 5:58pm
I am happy to adopt a new standard, however, the majority of the stormworks users need to apply that as the new Standard.
@agrimes ; Me, Toddy, jbaker96, and most of the experts and users decided that the new ISO standard was to be 11x11x? because the two extra blocks would accomidate normal sized cargo, like cars and the likes, to be fitted in the new ISO.
There even was a poll to pinpoint what the users wanted.
Every creation ive made has made sure it is compliant with the new ISO standard.
JarnSorm  [author] 5 Mar, 2020 @ 10:13am
@Tesla This is the standard. It has a name and parameters. You can support it or not. in the world there are many standards in parallel, so I do not see a problem.
JarnSorm  [author] 5 Mar, 2020 @ 10:10am
@agrimes AISO already supports several vehicles. we prepared them immediately and we will hope that the players will support us. Support for the old ISO came with time, so AISO has the right to life.
agrimes 5 Mar, 2020 @ 9:53am
Well, the old standard had a number of sizes for 10, 20 and 40 foot containers all 9x9 in profile. Several in-game missions and provide-with-game vehicles either implement or support this standard.
lexignatov  [author] 5 Mar, 2020 @ 9:25am
agrimes, Which old standard do you mean? 9x9? 11x11x29?
Tesla, I will be glad if you help organize a discussion on the adoption of a new standard. And yes, for now, this is "not a standard" - players have the right to do anything.
agrimes 5 Mar, 2020 @ 2:50am
Where is this new ISO container standard documented? What are the motivations for abandoning ? the old standard?
Tesla 4 Mar, 2020 @ 11:36pm
I am all for a standard in Stormworks term. However if you dont have enough tracktion, meaning the means of having everyone agreeing to your, or your groups standard, its not a standard. Hopefully you've taken this up in the Discord server, as we made a new ISO standard of 11x11x?.
ace_334 4 Mar, 2020 @ 5:10pm
@lexignatov eh i guess so.. ill just come up with a way to mimic air ride suspension and all will be well.. anyway all of my tractors do work with this system i just have to update the microcontroller
lexignatov  [author] 4 Mar, 2020 @ 8:15am
ace_334, its funny that previos comment be about standart is low. Maybe this is the golden mean?
JarnSorm  [author] 3 Mar, 2020 @ 9:20pm
@ace_334 therefore it exists only in stormworks:Her2:)
ace_334 3 Mar, 2020 @ 3:17pm
i like the idea but honestly your standard sits too high to match a real tractor trailer.
lexignatov  [author] 3 Mar, 2020 @ 10:00am
agrimes, We tested the tractor with the suspension and our standard trailer - they can work together, even with different saddle height. Especially under load, the suspension of the tractor drops below. However, we recommend use basic wheels without suspension for tractors and trailers, because when you transporting heavy loads, the suspension drops too low, and you may roll over when turning.
agrimes 2 Mar, 2020 @ 9:20pm
OK, I got to actually using this. I found that if I use the normal wheel+ suspension setup, the height of the springs is slightly above the specified maximum height, On my version of the Donkk truck, I had to put the connector below the rear deck... So basically there's no space for the actual "fifth wheel".

agrimes 2 Mar, 2020 @ 5:03pm
I've been using a mild extension of the DONKK standard, but then that standard has limitations.
sarobertson7 2 Mar, 2020 @ 4:52pm
need the same done for trains
agrimes 2 Mar, 2020 @ 8:31am
THANKS!

I had been working a related problem, making a standardized truck attachment system so that the best payloads could be attached to the best cabs/chassis, and support a variety of configurations.
I'll look at all of the tractors in my collection, including those published and upgrade them to this spec.

This would be amazing if creators did have a standard size, especially with connectors.

SmallD 23 Feb, 2020 @ 11:59pm
Специальный транспортер тоже считается?
