Good man. Look forward to it

@moonraker65 I was working on a major update, with a whole new terraced garden district, improvements to the rail network, some Sunset Harbor content for those who have it, etc.. Unfortunately, the current version of the Fine Road Tools mod causes rendering issues that make it too difficult to continue. If that mod ever gets fixed, I'll start working on the update again.

Any news of an update on this map ? Would be nice to see a few more bits and pieces added.

Yes it does. They count as jobs so you'll see the yellow bar reduce if you put in office zone
DoctorDestructo  [author] 6 Mar, 2020 @ 10:45am
Office zones reduce industry demand?? If that's true, that could be a game changer!
moonraker65 6 Mar, 2020 @ 2:44am
It is busy by the farms but moving. Put some generic industry zone in a few of the empty blocks to the right. Put in 2 office zones per empty super block and they've done very well and helped reduce the industry demand a fair bit.

Yes very busy around the cargo hub although trucks are delivering to all 3 cargo airports. Maybe needs some oil and ore put on to the map to get the other 2 industries working
DoctorDestructo  [author] 5 Mar, 2020 @ 11:21am
@moonraker65 That whole area past the canal never worked the way I envisioned, so I can see why you're making big changes. There was supposed to be a huge industry area behind all four superblocks, each representing a different industry. But the farm is only half done and the traffic is already so slow that it can't keep the cows fed. It was really hard to make the trucks deliver to more than one cargo terminal; they all wanted to go to whichever one's closest, causing tailbacks for miles. That area is why I gave up on city planning and changed my focus to detailing. Good luck!

And almost forgot to mention a new passenger train station right by the airport for easier transfer as well as a bus station with a line to the nearest 2 monorail/bus hubs and back. That made the 2 metro lines that used to run from the station to the airport redundant so got rid of those along with the track and stations.
moonraker65 5 Mar, 2020 @ 5:41am
Also altered the airport and put a new passenger only terminal below the cargo hub with a road connecting the 2 North - South roads out of the city with the airport sitting in the middle. Replaced the original passenger airport with another cargo one so that's all cargo now.

Metro usage is very high on the lines which cross the central canal. Have seen it as high as 1400 on one line so that does seem a popular choice.
DoctorDestructo  [author] 5 Mar, 2020 @ 4:02am
@moonraker65 Thanks! So it sounds like you've added a Chunnel -- very fitting for a Euro-themed map. I think there's at least one rail line that also crosses the river, so it should be interesting to see how it competes with your new metro. I'd like to run a cable car line across the river at some point, but haven't decided where.

Ok thanks. Very nice map by the way. Certainly like the already built up area. Altered the metro slightly by adding some cross river tunnels so that you can go from side to side rather than having to use the ferries.
DoctorDestructo  [author] 2 Mar, 2020 @ 4:00pm
@moonraker65 In my current save, I've added another spiraling tunnel that connects the road by the dam to the existing tunnel. The other canal island should probably also have a road connection to the dam side at some point; I'll probably add another covered bridge since I like the way they look. The ferries are a challenge since the game doesn't allow them to cross a canal without going all the way to the end first. I suspect the best way to run the lines will only become apparent once both banks of both canals are populated from one end to the other.

Any tips for the best way to expand in to the already zoned out 3 areas ? I see there are about 6 ferry stops along the back edge but tried running a line around it and not very well used. Also the road to the dam either side is not connected so was wondering what's the best way with that as well.

@Spookster I understand, believe me. I was just looking at the descriptions of the 6 DLCs I listed to see if any could be left out, and unfortunately, it appears most of them contain some important assets. You might be able to skip Green Cities, Industries, and European Suburbia without changing the overall look (much), but it would take some effort to keep the city functional (e.g. you'd have to create some new industrial zones and provide your own solutions for water and waste management).

Is it possible to create a version that doesn't require DLC? I really want to use this save, but I can't because I'm too poor to afford the DLCs.
DoctorDestructo  [author] 24 Feb, 2020 @ 6:22am
@vallurimukesh You don't need any custom assets, but traffic will be bad without Traffic Manager. I do think you need all the listed DLCs except maybe After Dark (I can't remember what's in that one). I may have used a couple benches from the University DLC, but they wouldn't be missed.

Do we need to load any assets or mods ?
DRen72 23 Feb, 2020 @ 7:48pm
I'm very impressed. This is great work. I see the name fits too.
