Yeah, this one's getting a thumbs-down from me. The final move in the second room proved to be extremely frustrating. Just wasn't able to get it down

Cool idea, great puzzles, but now i understand, that i hate this qte with build up velocity. I was not able to set the exit portal correctly nor i like the idea to repeat everything for a try. Solving was good, nocliped both final jumps. Thumb down from me. Would recommend to see, would not to play

I forgot about using the funnel to lower you closer to your portal to decrease your momentum and ended up shooting a portal on the angled surface and on the floor to jump into, but then I accidentally fell into the portal on the angled surface and it gave me a ton of upward velocity. I knew this wasn't the solution so I dropped back down and tried what I meant to do and ended up doing an epic strafe into an upside-down portal to give me the velocity I needed to get on the ledge and solved it intentionally from there.

never occurred to me to try grabbing a cube while falling. neat trick.
sillymel 2 Apr, 2024 @ 5:10pm
More specifically, the problem with the angled ceiling panel is that it doesn't always successfully nudge you onto the exit platform of the first room. Plus, it interferes with using portals to keep your height and give you time to get your bearings before moving onto the first room's exit platform .

I definitely enjoyed the music, though!

Oh, and I found the Companion Cube in this one! https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/id/sillymel/screenshot/2485497501523123823/

Congratulations! You're not trapped if you portal behind the unexploitable grate this time!

I wasn't that big of a fan of this map, so no thumbs up from me this time. I did manage to find a consistent way to do everything, but in my opinion, the puzzle should be in figuring out the sequence, not figuring out which of the slightly different ways of executing things is the most consistent. Of particular annoyance was this angled ceiling panel in the first room, which helps when stepping out of the funnel when looking down, but is a hindrance in other ways of doing the final trick of the room: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/id/sillymel/screenshot/2485497501523093853/
I did learn a lot about flinging from funnels in this one, tough, which was nice. If the puzzle itself was slightly more interesting, I probably would have given this a thumbs up despite my execution difficulties on my initial playthrough.
zeo1337 22 Jan, 2024 @ 3:54pm
I used quicksaves, but the end was not going easy at all. the cube kept slowing me down each time I grabbed it, like it actually adds to my mass or something. Had to jump off the button to keep enough momentum.
derPacifist 20 Aug, 2023 @ 10:31am
Even in theory, I couldn't think of a way to get the cube at the end. Wasn't expecting it to involve grabbing the cube while falling. But I have to admit, that it wasn't difficult to execute, but I learned a new move!
Clipzard 16 Jan, 2023 @ 8:20am
The first chamber was nice, but the second bit also almost drove me crazy, having to reset the entire puzzle for each attempt was not cool.
lfairban 10 Oct, 2022 @ 8:50am
That last move almost drove me crazy.
waghihgaghhhhn 3 Jun, 2022 @ 9:17pm
nice map
SpielSatzFail 15 May, 2022 @ 2:38pm
Because of the skill based solutions, this one felt out of place to me. The only one from the series I didn't like :-/
StackSmasher789 22 Apr, 2022 @ 7:16am
Didn't like the ending at all. I had solved it by respawning the cube and regrabbing on the way back thanks to a bit lowered floor. But I thought this was because of hammerization and not the part of actual puzzle. Very cool logic wise though.
Talisac 11 Feb, 2021 @ 2:41am
again, easy but interesting puzzle, a good reminder of how you can use funnels/portal! good job
Muzozavr 18 Oct, 2020 @ 10:33am
First puzzle was really, really interesting, although I did fail the fling a few times. These wall-assisted are quite unique, a few of them were in the TFV map pack for Portal 1, but those were obvious, this makes such a fling into a genuine puzzle. An interesting maneuver.

The second puzzle I had mostly done quite quickly, but then spent way too long trying to get the cube back to me when I'm all the way up again. Is the correct solution just to jump through the portals and grab the cube along the way back up ? If so, that's a bit disappointing, if the tunnel was slightly higher up, you could get the cube to be flung directly to you , which is what I was TRYING to do, but it wasn't working so I stepped in to get it myself...

Also, I found an easter egg but not how to get it. There is no way to get the companion cube , right? It's just for you to look at, I think...

Nice map.

@joe98 Yeah this one requires a tiny bit of dexterity. Just pure logic from here on out, though! :]
joe98 19 Aug, 2020 @ 8:41pm
I did watch the replay. He used the funnell to go around in a circle for no apparent reason. He then did 2 quick portals somewhere. I don't know where he did the portals so I cannot try it for myself. Thanks anyway. Now downloading the next one in the series.
Mikeastro  [author] 18 Aug, 2020 @ 6:18pm
@KØ414 B33R Yeah I must indeed admit that the end bit is a little punishing in case you mess up, you are correct. Always remember to quicksave with F6 and quickload with F7 :] This entry in the series does take some more acrobatics than the others, but I'm happy to hear you did like it in the end. Cheers!
KØ414 B33R 18 Aug, 2020 @ 6:10pm
I have revised my rating. I did watch the run-through, and have played it again. I think my frustration is not so much a problem with your design as it is with my old fingers and mouse handling not having the reflexes that they once did. Although, if you miss grabbing the cube and get stuck on the floor in the last chamber you have to start the section over again as you need the extra fall distance to get back up to the button level. That's what I mean by a one-way decision. Not the end of the world, and by no means a detraction from your map designing prowess, just a personal gaming preference. Cheers!
Mikeastro  [author] 13 Aug, 2020 @ 6:39pm
@KØ414 B33R Did you watch the video linked in the description? It shows the solution, and I would be interested to learn which part you would consider so overly tedious. Anyway, thanks for playing
KØ414 B33R 13 Aug, 2020 @ 5:18pm
Way too tedious to get the cube where you need it for the finish.
Mikeastro  [author] 17 Jun, 2020 @ 5:45am
@_galaxy Haha yeah you can do it like that if you are careful. The intended route isn't all that much more interesting, but you could check the video in the description to take a look
_galaxy 16 Jun, 2020 @ 7:56pm
This one was surprisingly easier than the others...

I'm not sure I did it exactly intended though :P https://streamable.com/nafk7w
Mikeastro  [author] 7 May, 2020 @ 5:39am
@Ocean 你是对的。这有点不同。感谢您的参与。
Ocean 7 May, 2020 @ 5:38am
这关和你其他关卡的风格不太一样,你的其它作品都是不需要操作 只要想出通关路线就可以过关 这关思路简单但是操作起来确实不容易 不过还是非常感谢作者给我们带来这么好的关卡

Your nice soundtrack ruin many flying in the "tunnel" Tunnels is fine and flying in it is boring. ;) In this puzzle I had bad feeling: I know how to do ,but I haven't skill. Nice work.
Mikeastro  [author] 20 Mar, 2020 @ 4:58am
@Towelie Clegane Even though I disagree with you about it including any difficult execution, I understand the nature of your objections. It's my least favourite part of the series also. Thanks for playing.
Towelie Clegane 20 Mar, 2020 @ 4:54am
not a very good puzzle compared to usual. its just #1 all over again but even more annoying. its better when your puzzle dont include timing, execution and are just focused on logic instead. very disapointed, i feel like i wasted my time with this one.
Mikeastro  [author] 19 Mar, 2020 @ 4:09am
@BehindPortal Thank you so much for playing this series! I'm really happy to hear that you are enjoying it :D More is still to come!
BehindPortal 19 Mar, 2020 @ 1:57am
great idea.
Mikeastro  [author] 15 Mar, 2020 @ 2:05pm
@XenonZed I'm not quite sure what you mean by either of those objections. I would suggest taking a peek at the solution video linked in the description to see a solution that, to my knowlegde, is not ''terribly frustrating to execute''
racknae 15 Mar, 2020 @ 1:18pm
Really just terribly frustrating to execute. Flings that require the player to move out of funnels are janky, and the last step (or at least the only thing I've found that would work) is absurd to time given that I only have one shot at it.
Spider_Dawg 15 Mar, 2020 @ 8:54am
@Mikeastro I can see from the videos that it's not a difficult maneuver, but anything that requires any skill at all is going to trip me up. That's just me, not a reflection on the design of the puzzle.
Mikeastro  [author] 14 Mar, 2020 @ 4:35pm
@Spider_Dawg Thanks for playing! I wonder how you managed to miss the portal after flinging vertically to catch the cube... but yeah you are correct that you must be sure to move both your portals away from the funnel. Admittedly the move is a little silly, I won't make a habit out of it. Anyway, just for the record, I don't hate you >_<
Spider_Dawg 14 Mar, 2020 @ 4:07pm
I just tried the "correct" way and didn't find it any easier, kept either missing the portal after grabbing the cube and being stuck back on the floor, or winding up back in the funnel . Well, I solved it once and am crossing it off the to-do list. Cheers/Skol.
Spider_Dawg 14 Mar, 2020 @ 3:50pm
These were cool, but the execution required had me wondering why Mikeastro hates me so much. Second room took many attempts, but turns out I did it the same way as @Shagielll, by placing one portal near the wall, and another just this side of below the funnel, timing the jump just right to grab the cube and still fall through the second portal . Now that I've seen the video of the correct solution, maybe Mikeastro doesn't hate me quite as much as I'd figured.
Mikeastro  [author] 9 Mar, 2020 @ 4:14am
@Shagielll Wow! That must have been risky xD Glad you liked it regardless
ShaggieIII 9 Mar, 2020 @ 12:02am
Looks like I took the hard route by grabbing the cube out of the funnel on a fling Really enjoying this series.
Mikeastro  [author] 5 Mar, 2020 @ 6:05am
@Polux Thank you too! I'm glad you're enjoying these little maps :]
Polux 5 Mar, 2020 @ 5:51am
I spent a pleasant moment in each parts of the series. Thank you.
Mikeastro  [author] 4 Mar, 2020 @ 2:50pm
@wildgoosespeeder Yeah these kinds of momentum puzzles tend to require a tiny bit more execution than your average map. There are no puzzles left in the series with a focus on momentum - all logic from here :]
wildgoosespeeder 4 Mar, 2020 @ 11:08am
The idea is good but I had some trouble getting it executed correctly.
Mikeastro  [author] 4 Mar, 2020 @ 1:15am
@quatrus Thanks for playing. That is indeed a tricky thing to see. I'm glad you enjoyed it in the end
quatrus 3 Mar, 2020 @ 4:03pm
Difficult to see that a stop needed on center platform, kept flying over. Rest of puzzle was good challenge. Thanks for creating.
Mikeastro  [author] 3 Mar, 2020 @ 6:45am
@Leomievs Haha yeah it is indeed quite an uncharacteristic move for me. Less funky solutions are ahead :] And nice work finding the easter egg once more :p
