@ RustyDios. Thank you for the answer. It is quite clear.
BTW I am using a few of your excellent mods already.

@Jestimac
It was a rather simple change to make the Combat Protocol name exposed to the config, so now you should be able to adjust the config for a 'correct' LWotC setup using the new LW perk name.

~ Hope this helps you in your LWotC run :)

The ability it wants is just normal CombatProtocol and granted when you get ScanningProtocol .

You can turn off the required ability override in the config, set bTARGET_PROTOCOL_REQUIRES_COMBATPROTOCOL to false... this should let you use it in LWOTC

Although now LWotC is on the workshop I could update this mod a little and expose the CombatProtocol name to config so users could adjust correctly... I'll add it to my list of things to do :)

Hello. I have been using this regularly in my WOTC campaigns. I have started LWOTC + Mod Jam.
As far as I know, Mod Jam does not modify Gremlins, except for the "Scouting Protocol".
LWOTC seems to modify the values of Combat Protocol (the ability seems to be "CombatProtocol_Robotic" and I assume it is the standard one).
My question, as you can guess, is whether the Target Protocol is compatible with LWOTC and Mod Jam ? I don't see why it should not be, as it is a modification of an existing ability and not a new one, but it is logical to ask the pros.... :)

Sorry i can see that it works as intended. Would be super helpful to add rpgo supported in the mod description and tags. Anyway thanks for sharing this cool mod.

Great creative mod idea. Is it compatible with RPGO universal soldier class? If not is it possible to make it?

Please feel free to test it. I'm sorry I don't have the time to test every mod combination that is out there. It would depend on how Grimy's Loot Mod adds the gremlin damage. You could always set up the configuration file so that you would have both 'normal' combat protocol and 'holotarget' combat protocol.

At the very best it shouldn't 'break' the game with both mods active. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful .. hope you enjoy it and thanks for using :)

is it compatible with grimy's lootmod where gremlins deal +2 damage for example?

When this protocol is used there's a flyover saying Protocol Complete which no other protocols do. It's not a big deal, just something I thought to mention.

"Drone has the target lased!" "FIRE!"

Or nevermind... I added the required config entry to this mod ... so YES by default this now works with the Lock-On Rockets from Iridars Rocket Launchers :)
RustyDios  [author] 4 Mar, 2020 @ 12:34am
@Arkhangel What a super question ... um, no by default settings
HOWEVER ... in CX Iridars Rocket Launchers 2.0 mod there is a config file called XComRockets.ini

Somewhere around 327 lines into that file is this header;
[WOTCRocketLaunchers.X2Condition_IRI_HoloTarget]

You would need to add this to that file in that spot;
+LOCKON_EFFECTS=HoloTarget_GTP

(And for consistency you should add +LOCKON_EFFECTS=MarkedTarget too, this is the ADVENT Captain Marked name)

Hope that helps :)

Question: Does this work to "spot" guys for Lockon/Falcon Rockets from Iridar's Rocket Launchers mod?
Kexx 3 Mar, 2020 @ 8:40pm
ooo very nice! Great idea!

If only I was still using Vanilla Specialists, this is really cool. Nice mod!
Jestimac 3 Mar, 2020 @ 2:43pm
Hello Rusty Dios This is definitely a good idea. I don't use combat protocol much, but this will lead me to use it more frequently. I think it will change the way one uses gremlins. Congratulations.
José 3 Mar, 2020 @ 10:56am
How about renaming it to 'Spotter Protocol?'
RustyDios  [author] 3 Mar, 2020 @ 10:27am
@Lebowskichild Yes
@SkySpirit Yes

The mod in it's default state, without changing anything in the configs, will grant Target Protocol to anyone that has Scanning Protocol.

However Target Protocol has a condition to ensure the soldier also has Combat Protocol (and it replaces and overrides Combat Protocol) before it shows up in the HUD as a valid ability :)

There are options in the config to turn off it requiring Combat Protocol, overwriting Combat Protocol and choosing what ability actually grants Target Protocol. :)

I Hope that clear things up a little :)
SkySpirit 3 Mar, 2020 @ 10:04am
@RustyDios, so, if I understand correctly, if used with RPGOverhaul, this mod will grant unit a Target Protocol when he gets Scanning Protocol & Combat Protocol, without need to bee a Specialist class, right?
Lebowskichild 3 Mar, 2020 @ 10:02am
So this mod would work by just giving me Target Protocol instead of Combat Protocol? I'm guessing that any in game text would not be updated however?
RustyDios  [author] 3 Mar, 2020 @ 9:58am
Without changing anything in the default setup ... having Scanning Protocol at squaddie but getting Combat Protocol at LTN would instantly grant Target Protocol instead of Combat Protocol when it's selected (it won't show in the promotion screen or soldier summary, as Target Protocol replaces Combat on mission start)
Lebowskichild 3 Mar, 2020 @ 9:50am
Hi @RustyDios, with regards to using my own custom class. I have a Tech Specialist that gains Scanning Protocol at Squaddie but can only choose to get Combat Protocol at Lieutenant rank. How would this react if at all possible?
