I saw the thumbnail icon and instantly recognized the caravan palace bot, very excited to play with a full version of it!

If you're referring to the 'retro' head with the side cones, it's actually based off of Caravan Palace's mascot! Though if I add more head shapes at some point, I really should look to Futurama as inspiration...
Tribal automatons arrive in bad shape with numerous crude prostheses such as peg legs and wooden hands.
Nah, a toggle is beyond my abilities.

"reasonable tribal integration"? like, warpainted skins for them, with feathers and bone trinkets and shrunk heads?

In regards to backgrounds, I wasn’t able to come up with anything, due to me not being able to play the game all that much. I’ll offer up some ideas if they come to mind, though!
As for the additional question, I’d say this; not sleep, but require more food than other colonists, like Tiers’ Androids. That way, people can consider whether they should recruit one or not, rather than going “Hey, more efficiency!”.

The newest update to your mod made me finally give it a shot, and I gotta say, I think I prefer this one the most! Simple, not *too* broken, offering a proper lore-friendly explanation as to why they’re fully autonomous, a means of bypassing the steep cost of crafting one, let alone making crafting one a challenge... I think this might be a winner! Looking forward to seeing what else you might do with this!

I thought it would be something like that. I'll go tell the steampunk automatons author about it. Those automatons are probably missing other BodyGroups like legs or whatever.

The infinite bandanas also occurs with capes and another android mod I have, I just make a separate outfit for the offending pawns to use.

That seems to be an issue from some other automaton-ish mods too, like this one. It's too bad. Who knows what kind of performance issues or even game breakage you'll get down the line if you never tell them to take those off. Imagine an automaton wearing thousands of items. Trying to open their gear tab might crash.

Anyway I hope the wonderful modders can figure out these issues.

Automatons seems to wear an infinite amounts of badanas from VFE settlers.

Back to tinkering with RimWorld! Good news is that I've updated and fixed this mod (I think)! Bad news is I forgot to make a backup and have no idea what I changed, so if you're using this on 1.1, that's my bad.:sad_creep:

They seem to treat medical issues like they are nothing, had a one blow its coolant pump clean out and be fine, yet it wants to be medically tended to as a Human so you can't replace/repair items correctly

I want something like this but no random spawn, I want to research and build them or have a robotic trader/ship that comes by selling them and I want to pick what they will do, like cooking, cleaning, securtiy, etc...

I can confirm they eat again if you clear out <chemicalSettings> contents from Races_Automatons.xml

Not ideal, obviously. Hopefully the races mod will fix it soon...

The anorexia bug is likely due to the game's recent update, but I can't confirm or deny it either way. Regardless, as I'm not presently on a RimWorld kick, assume that this mod and any of my others will not be updated. However, should anyone be so inclined to take the wheel and update/fix any of my mods, go for it. All I ask is that you let me know.

Yup, my automatons cant interact with any food, they still can drink beer, but cant eat, pick up, haul or do anything with food.

I'm really loving this mod as I was a getting tired of the bloat of some of the Android mods available. The one issue I'm having is, how do I fix them??? I have One guy with a missing toe and another with damaged CPU, I have pretty much all the medical/bionic research complete but the Automatons do not allow for operation bills other than Archotech & wooden replacements. I have piles of advanced bionic arms at this point & wish I could use them to fix up my struggling bots. HALP!

The below happens when automaton is hurt and in sleeping spot. It was for prisoners. Once I remove bed or spot it stops. One my automaton pawns rested on medical sleeping spot and this error did not spam. Think it is just when they are hurt in medical bed/spot.

I wish you could craft this like you can in the android mod and how there all different in a sort of way like how you can upgrade them to make them better and for this mod I wish there was a way to craft them and sort of upgrade them like you can in the other version or where they have there own kind of medical problems and parts and upgrades you can do but I don't see a point of downloading it now and im not trying to hate on the author or anything and i really like the art and effort he/she put into this but I really do think if they fixed the small issues where the road ends and added more options to it I think more people would download this mod and if I see that there is more added I will of course 100% download this and add it to my messed up colony but @Verrigan Holmes I want to say that I love the way it looks I just wish there was more

I agree, but that's something that's presently beyond my skill level. Maybe if I dig around, I can make something like that work, but I don't know.
For now, the robots get their energy the same way people do.
