TrainFreak 4 Sep, 2023 @ 6:36pm
what mod/asset are the houses in the 2nd screenshot?
giantflamingo_ 21 Dec, 2021 @ 9:43pm
@Roq I mean from a geographical standpoint
Roq 30 Nov, 2021 @ 8:54am
It's a well thought out map with everything you need in the right places and a nice touch with tree choice and placement... Extra tile mods are useful though to take over areas just outside of control for infrastructure / detailing or if you just want a huge map of course. Not sure why I'm commenting (confusion probably) here as I'm using the DLC version, but I'm sure the vanilla version is almost as good, bar vanilla trees and such...
MrMiyagi  [author] 18 Nov, 2021 @ 12:42pm
I'm confused because the map has shipping lanes that reach so many places, including the start square.
Anyhow, in similar real life locations with this topography, not everywhere on the shore is going to be able to serve as a port due to the need for deep water. This is also simulated in the map with the placement of the shipping lanes.
Roq 15 Nov, 2021 @ 7:00pm
@jordanferazza am playing on it, looks to me that it will work best with a 25 tile mod later on.
giantflamingo_ 14 Nov, 2021 @ 7:21pm
It would be nice if the start was somewhere strategic so that you don't have unrealistic empty sea spots, but this map isn't too bad in that respect
MrMiyagi  [author] 11 Sep, 2021 @ 6:24am
@charalinedreemurr it's temperate, and there's also a mod that allows you to safely convert a map or a save game into another region - Environment Changer by Bloody Penguin.
charalinedreemurr 8 Sep, 2021 @ 8:24pm
What region is this map located? Is it temporate, boreal or european?
Alleykat 8 Feb, 2021 @ 2:04pm
Yes they work! they just looked odd, LOL...Thank you for your reply, you are very kind. And again, thank you for the wonderful maps - not all of us are creative and appreciate those of you who are!
MrMiyagi  [author] 8 Feb, 2021 @ 8:54am
Yup, everything is okay. See, the default game does not allow you to build tunnels in the map editor. Mods had to be created to achieve this. The game renders all items in unpurchased land differently, I believe for optimized performance. Go to the edge of your purchased land and see how different the highways and railroads look once they leave your area. This applies to tunnels, too.
They may be covered over, but the tunnels still work. :)
Kappa_uxb 8 Feb, 2021 @ 2:21am
Yeah, my tunnels looked filled in map editor, but were all working in the game.
Alleykat 7 Feb, 2021 @ 11:12pm
Might just be my settings, but are the tunnels all filled with dirt? Looks rather odd! Lovely map though, both versions!
Kappa_uxb 20 Nov, 2020 @ 3:51am
Great map, enjoying building on it.
jshutich 5 Aug, 2020 @ 8:49am
Interesting map, the wind for the windmills and water wind turbines is varying so I have to adjust the budget increasing it sometimes to keep the power up to my required needs. Now with more population I get to use the geothermal plant for more sable power.
jshutich 4 Aug, 2020 @ 3:41am
Why does the Sunset Harbor Map - Decorated / Mass Transit have the highway/roundabout and this one does not?
MrMiyagi  [author] 25 May, 2020 @ 12:56pm
I'm right there in the trenches with you, Rena219. It took almost 5 years of not eating out ever... (okay twice) to upgrade from my potato computer so I could run this game better. :winter2019joyfultearssnowman:

Power to the people! :steamhappy:
Renatito UwU 24 May, 2020 @ 1:43pm
Thanks bro, finally someone cares about the poor. Nice job

schadenfreude 15 May, 2020 @ 7:34am
Loving this map, thank you! :steamhappy:
MrMiyagi  [author] 14 May, 2020 @ 9:01am
You're welcome! Have fun building :)
montajo 14 May, 2020 @ 7:56am
beautiful map! perfect for a coastal city with nice harbours and beaches. Thank you!
GABAGOOL 29 Apr, 2020 @ 1:22pm
Thank you!!! :)
MrMiyagi  [author] 29 Apr, 2020 @ 12:42pm
Hi Gabagool, here is the collection for those houses. It includes the houses and all required tree, props etc that make them look so amazing :) The only thing I personally do not use are the SKF pavement theme mod nor its assets, because it is based on the Ploppable Pavement mod, which causes extremely long loading times and performance issues. Other than that, the rest of the collection is very nice. :)
GABAGOOL 28 Apr, 2020 @ 3:20pm
Hi, could you link me to the house assets you have in the second screenshot. Those homes are absolutely gorgeous! @MyMiyagi
MrMiyagi  [author] 17 Apr, 2020 @ 11:34am
Hi, I forgot to add the link of the other version of the map with workshop trees and a map theme. It requires Mass Transit: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2036110088

If you don't have MT so you need to use this vanilla map, no problem. The map theme used for that one ^ is beautiful: Laviante 2.0.

I also like Not So Rocky Hills as another green, temperate looking theme.

If you want to turn it into a sunny, drier California/Mediterranean look, I'm partial to my Levant theme: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1713840122

and you could give it a tropical look with Seychelles https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1230768185

None of those require a mod to change to a different environment. They're all temperate like this map, but transform its look to seem like you're in a totally different environment. :)
The Blue Hat 16 Apr, 2020 @ 4:33am
I like the map! can you reccomend any custom themes for it?
Sol 9 Apr, 2020 @ 7:55am
This is a really good map, the flattest one with all 4 fish.
Mr. Anonymous 7 Apr, 2020 @ 4:30pm
Very nice to hear, thanks for sharing that!
Mr. Anonymous 5 Apr, 2020 @ 5:07pm
Definitely one of the top ten maps in my 4 years of playing the game. If Paradox had any sense Mr. Miyagi would be at a corner desk making six figures, with Mr. Maison nearby.
MrMiyagi  [author] 30 Mar, 2020 @ 7:58am
I thought you meant the vanilla water vs the nicer blue water by AJR in the environment. :D
MrMiyagi  [author] 30 Mar, 2020 @ 7:57am
oooohhh did you mean the 7th picture with the pink, orange purple and blue?? Yes, that's different fishing zones, and the map maker has control over this unless you use the extra landscaping tools mod and figure out how to alter the currents. I managed to get all four on this map. Tuna is a real pain.
Rooster 29 Mar, 2020 @ 1:54pm
Thank you for the explanation.Silly me thought they were for different forms of fishing zones;no wonder I couldn't find any reference to them.:)
MrMiyagi  [author] 29 Mar, 2020 @ 7:13am
The different colors of the environment are achieved by what's called a Map Theme. We create an environment that changes the looks of everything in the environment that players experience. It's a part of the default game, so you won't run into any problems except if you have limited RAM.

The theme in the pics is Laviante 2.0 map theme. It has a high memory requirement, fyi https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/workshop/filedetails/?id=1822130121

Alternatives that I use with attractive water colors and have less memory required:
Not So Rocky Hills https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1265037348
Regular Temperate https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1413166176
Temperate Blue Green Water https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=741216169
Rooster 28 Mar, 2020 @ 10:06pm
Much prefer this version.Thanks.Can you explain the different "coloured" waters. Can't find any reference to them in tutorials.
MrMiyagi  [author] 28 Mar, 2020 @ 11:58am
Thanks guys :)
hotaru 28 Mar, 2020 @ 11:49am
MrMiyagi it works again, was for a while it wasn't there
Elvenkind 27 Mar, 2020 @ 11:16pm
Firefly Banner: Don't you tihink maps like for example "meteor falls" and azur coast look good? And the Finns I picture among the developers must have given a hint at the Russians with dried out lakes with boats.
Elvenkind 27 Mar, 2020 @ 11:13pm
"Sorry, some kind of error has occurred: Comments must be less than 1000 characters in length." Writing too fast and too much and I see red lines under much of my English so They hate me on Reddit now - I almost got banned from in there, because of my bad English, trying to pull a joke about Traffic Engineers, something that made them give me tons of "bad karma", since I couldn't ever imagine that things such as the "diamond" intersection came from reality (!) being a simple Norwegian. My city is merely a village in a country with below 5 million people. Sorry, some kind of error has occurred: Comments must be less than 1000 characters in length.
Elvenkind 27 Mar, 2020 @ 11:08pm
This is beautiful work MrMiyagi! This one should be perfect for a new completely basic vanilla tutorial series I'm thinking about building up for a Sunset City, vanilla city, I only really need using the 25 map mod, Achive it, and Move it, I get really expensive after a while if needing to demolish service buildings, and now they have nursing facilities for juniors and seniors, this DLC really help improve in a better way I think both Green City, Industrial Mass Transit only parking miss from the assets in the game now I think, but the people in /rCities Skylines is almost breathing fire now after how they seem to have been choosing freely from the user generated assets, the fish industry of Peanut was much better then just a market and a facility for canned goods. Also the above ground Subway is clearly plagiarism.
Firefly Banner 27 Mar, 2020 @ 9:43am
SO much more fun than those *nightmare* maps that came with Sunset Harbor.
I've enough stress right now, I don't need maps that are "60%" buildable, but only if you count the vertical parts.
This map makes sense.

Thank you.
MrMiyagi  [author] 27 Mar, 2020 @ 6:47am
hotaru, the highways are there. Are there no highways for you??
MrMiyagi  [author] 27 Mar, 2020 @ 6:46am
Oh no, Craig! Freezing half way through loading... definitely sounds like a mod issue. If you find out which it is, you might be able to disable it and then try to open your city again.
CraigUK87 27 Mar, 2020 @ 5:12am
|Damn, I spent 7 hours last night building a city, all my saves are broken :'( they freeze half way through loading...yet the chirper wheel keeps spinning, so upset lol. OCD was on point.
Screen shots of the city is on my profile
hotaru 27 Mar, 2020 @ 2:03am
nice map, but why the street is not available
gatausiapa 26 Mar, 2020 @ 7:55pm
It's error
Saturn 26 Mar, 2020 @ 9:24am
Good Job! Works really well with the DLC :)
Avanya 26 Mar, 2020 @ 9:19am
I love that you made Sunset Harbor <3
