Thanks for everything over the years. The mod has been wonderful to use.
Jiopaba 2 hours ago
@FubarXS not at all. There haven't been any real significant improvements to hauling in the base game, everyone is just commenting because CodeOptimist got overwhelmed with negative feedback after releasing an unpopular update that had some problems. It's since been reverted, but I think the general mood is encouraging CO to take their time and not stress too much about what a bunch of nerds on the Steam Workshop think.

ty for your good work <3 love from germany

I just want to confirm — based on the comments, is this mod no longer needed?

Does that also apply to the Pick Up And Haul mod?

This mod does not work with 1.6

Go, enjoy your life and thank you.

Thank you for all the work you did on this mod.

Was the beta ever re-released? That was the update which got me using this mod in the first place, and I loved it so much that I added PUAH when it got reverted just to keep this.
TAWM 12 Jul @ 3:00am
Today I noticed that version 1.6 of the game seems to have incorporated some features of that mod. My pawn, despite having hauling disabled, picked up some steel on the way to bed...

Appreciate your message on how difficult this has been to keep up with. I am sorry if this does not get updated as your efforts were appreciated. Hope you stick around after a much needed break though. The creators of rimworld really should appreciate what the modders have done for this game over the years and how less fulfilling this game would have been without them.

Thank you for using this mod all this time

Thank you for all your work, I've been using this for YEARS and it's genuinely bittersweet seeing you hang-up your hat.

Good luck in life <3

Thank you, you made my 1000++ hours of rimworld experience way better!

I know it doesn't change anything, but I would really like to see the work you invested so much time on and that was reverted. All the best to you in any case!
Meefreese 10 Jul @ 3:43am
I wish you all the best, Codeoptimist. Im sorry people have acused you, and other authors, of things neither of you had control of or even wanted to happen.

For every impatcient accusatory sack of potatoes, theres those that are patcient, understanding, and appreciative of your skills that most of us cant pick up or sometimes even comprehend. All the same, however, your decision is understandable, and i hope you see the best on your new ventures.:koboldkiss:

Nevermind, I found the issue. Steam's Workshop did a really weird thing where it subbed me to a new version of PUAH (that i didn't even know existed) and that overwrote version that was in my game/save. Never seen the Workshop do that before. But that was where my issue came from. It was causing a 1.6 version to overwrite the 1.5 version.
Caz 7 Jul @ 11:06am
I'm having the same issue Alison had. The "Pick Up" option is completely gone. This started a couple days ago for me.
Does this mod also include a "Pick Up" option? Or is that exclusive to PUAH?
LordBeef21 3 Jul @ 8:23am
Have a good time, @codeoptimist. Best of luck to you in whatever you do. o7

UPDATE WHEN??????????????????
SP4RTAN 13 Jun @ 11:13am
Hopefully the 1.6 pathfinding refactor will make this even better in the future
codeoptimist  [author] 6 Jun @ 1:02pm
@Alison, there's no update, it has been rolled back. <3 Make sure the mod says "While You're Up (with add-on for PUAH)" and install Pick Up And Haul separately (if you use it).

@Hagamablabla, appreciate that.
Alison 4 Jun @ 2:32am
@codeoptimist Hello, after playing the game several days after the update, I noticed that the "pick up" choice no longer appears in the drop down menu when I right clicked an item. If I remembered correctly this issue seems to appeared after the update. Can you investigate that?
Hagamablabla 3 Jun @ 12:29pm
Thank you for the work you've put into this mod over the last 5 years. You don't owe the players anything, which makes me appreciate all that you have given to us. I hope your life continues to go amazing!
ozeola1 3 Jun @ 11:23am
Can this mod make my pawn to haul several types of resouces at once? For example the building needs 1 steel and i wood. My pawn go to storage take 1 wood and haul. Then he return to same storage to take 1 steel. it is possible to make them take both at once?
codeoptimist  [author] 3 Jun @ 9:42am
Thanks @CrAZyKirBy!
JotNyangE 3 Jun @ 1:11am
Thank god for the roll-back. Sometimes it is best to leave things as is if it ain't broken.
CrAZyKirBy 2 Jun @ 5:11pm
I got to play that beautiful version of this mod pack and it worked entirely for me. I didn't have any issues during the entire time v5 was operational. I also had another haul mod stacked on top of this mod pack and it was amazing to see both mods work in harmony ;) I'm glad I got to experience the 1000+ hours of work you put into it before it was reverted. Thank you for giving your best to this mod pack and I hope your summer goes great. Whether you decide to return or not, it's been an honor playing this mod pack. o7

@TheTh1rt33nth @Brandon12340987 This happens when your colonists are trying to path to an inaccessible tile. I got this when trying to build a wall lamp behind a deepchem tank (from vanilla chemfuel expanded). Since that's an impassable object, they couldn't reach behind it to build the light, so all my builders got the "standing" bug. Deconstructing the tank fixed them all and they went about their jobs like normal.

So, check to see which pawns are standing, and see what jobs they have and whether they're trying to access a place that they can't path to or not.

This problem is not caused by this mod's latest update, it happened to me in the past as well and is a pathing problem.

Hello, I'm a player from China. The following was translated using GPT.

I had an issue where my pawns were stuck in "Waiting" and wouldn’t do anything. I tried re-subscribing, disabling the mod, even using older versions — nothing worked. I almost gave up, but then shared the error log with GPT.

GPT suggested it might be a pathfinding issue with the Fleshmass Nucleus. I checked and found my containment room full of marble chunks — turns out my pawns never uninstalled an old deep drill and kept mining there. The chunks blocked the path and broke the AI.

After clearing the room, the pawns went back to normal. It blew my mind that such a weird setup caused the problem.

Hope this helps someone!
A7Ranger 1 Jun @ 3:36am
TheTh1rt33nth and I might be having a similar situation, considering how my colonist decides to just wander about while still having jobs to do for some reason, that never happened before. Hopefully the forked version is used for the addon mod and I can just rollback to the usual While You're At It with the standalone Pick Up and Haul. Hopefully this isn't the start of a new bug for me and my developed saves. :/
codeoptimist  [author] 31 May @ 3:12pm
Steam can be slow to download mod updates. An unsubscribe & resubscribe often helps. As long as the mod you have is named, "While You're Up (with add-on for PUAH)" then everything is exactly as it was, and you can enable PUAH separately.

Thanks for the kind comments and for helping answer other people's questions in the comments.
VitaKaninen 31 May @ 1:37pm
@Risel96, The old version of the mod had been restored, so you would use it along with PUAH, just as before. The new version will be released as a standalone mod later on.
AvRZaR 31 May @ 12:43pm
@RiseI96 what worked for me was to simply remove the standalone Pick up and Haul. RimPy did indicate that there would be and issue but I launched before checking the error.

After loading back in all seems fine.

I suspect that Mlie will probably add something to Use This Instead rather quickly due to the widespread nature of both mods. I do not know that however, just a guess.
Risel96 31 May @ 12:13pm
So, in the end, what needs to be done to fix the game? There are so many comments with different topics that I do not even know where to look.
Brandon12340987 31 May @ 10:32am
had a somewhat similar issue to TheTh1rt33nth, i have unloaded Pick Up And Haul and my game returned to working
Evono 31 May @ 10:08am
dont have this issue on a save with 370+ mods maybe sort your modlist with rimsort and stuff.
TheTh1rt33nth 31 May @ 6:55am
Damn, it seems like the reinstall/resubscribe/disable thing doesn't work
After that new update, even after the rollback my colonists tend to get stuck, quickly fluctuating between "standing" and another task. This also murders the FPS on a pretty high-end rig
It's cool and all for the positivity that's going on here, but such effects are very unpleasant to experience on a developed save
Twitxx 31 May @ 5:04am
I just wanted to chime in and say a big thank you to you, codeoptimist. You've made all of our lives a little better with your selfless acts of generosity. From the bottom of my heart, thank you!

Thank you for all the hard work and love you’ve poured into this. What you’ve done is incredible, and many of us truly appreciate it.
To those who didn’t bother reading the description and just came to complain—open your eyes, read, and show some respect for 1,000+ hours of effort. Don’t be a burden to the community. :cutefox:

I can totally understand that modding for rimworld is more stressful than it's worth. Much respect for you listening to your head even though the sunk cost fallacy. I think it's the right choice that will bring you peace of mind! Thank you for all the hours upon hours upon hours of work for this community! <3

+1 to everything good that people said below me here. Your mod is awesome!

@MannenMyten +1
A7Ranger 30 May @ 1:36pm
@codeoptimist You're awesome, dude, the fact that you're still updating the mod at all is a testament to your ability to still care about your work and us. But you should absolutely take a break every once and awhile for your own sake, not just for ours (I need to drop RimWorld sometimes and do my own work or explore other games), and while although I understand absolutely nothing behind the modding scene, you and many modders work just as hard as any game developers in a gaming studio, and I can't stress that enough that your work oft times goes unnoticed or have to redo from scratch due to some incompatibility, bugs or performance issues, you are the unsung heroes and I can't thank you enough for all the joys you brought to us, so for that, I thank you.

Even if the whole world decided to go against you, I and many others, will be the last ones still standing who will play your mods and your games, no matter what. I hope you can understand that, despite my long rant. Peace :luv:
A7Ranger 30 May @ 1:01pm
Hmmm...I'm noticing something strangely lately, for some questionable reasons, some of my colonists decided to just slack off even when all of their jobs are ticked with 4-3, some just go out of their way to wander about for no reason while there are other jobs available, is this a new bug?
Master of Academics 30 May @ 12:58pm
Thank you for all the hard work, v5 looked pretty cool with the workaround for performance fish. Please take all the time that you need and return whenever you feel like it.
