RPG Overhaul Specialization Pack - Stormrider

Hello, and thank you for this mod, I've used it for several playthroughs. :) I especially like the ability to use a standard soldier instead of a SPARK for tanking.

Also, if anyone (like me) wonders about the perks that can't be bought in the GTS:
In my latest playthrough I looked carefully and I noticed that these perks are applied automatically when a soldier "masters" a class. I guess the perks are just listed in the GTS so that you can see them. This might not be entirely clear from the description (or I may just be stupid). Hope this helps someone. :)

ok
Now I understand

I don't even understand what you're saying. If you're talking about Stormrider CLASS not showing up while you play with RPGO and RPG Overhaul Specialization Pack - Stormrider, then it is 100% intended and that's how it's supposed to be.
Phantasmic 26 Aug, 2023 @ 12:39pm
Yeah but, It is named the brawler class with rpgo
And I can't wee it
Iridar  [author] 10 Aug, 2023 @ 9:43am
@A
Yes? That's the expected behavior. RPGO Specialization Pack disables the standalone Stormrider class so it cannot be assigned with Commander's Choice or picked at random.
Phantasmic 10 Aug, 2023 @ 9:19am
For some reason
When I want to promote with commander's choice
I can't see the stormrider and all the mods I need are enabled

I seem to run into a strange buck when using this with RPGO. Whenever my solider rolls Stormrider specializations I seem to get an additional duplicate row of specializations, for each specialization I manged to roll. So if I roll 2 Stormrider specs, I get two rows filled with abilities that are just "null".
V A P E Jr. 16 May, 2022 @ 8:36am
That worked, thank you!
Iridar  [author] 15 May, 2022 @ 7:34am
Just disable Community Promotion Screen and ignore the warning.
V A P E Jr. 15 May, 2022 @ 6:54am
The base Stormrider Mod requires Community Promotion Screen but that's incompatible with Musashi's RPG Overhual. How should I resolve the conflict?
Sever 16 Mar, 2022 @ 2:11am
Ok, thank you! I went ahead and chose not to enable the weapon restriction option. That has allowed me to equip "empty" in the secondary slot.
Iridar  [author] 15 Mar, 2022 @ 11:48pm
An unfortunate side effect of the RPGO weapon restrictions system. You can't do anything about it.
Sever 15 Mar, 2022 @ 6:16pm
I should say, the Charger class. The character also has the Ranger and Thug classes.
Sever 15 Mar, 2022 @ 5:56pm
Hi! For some reason, when I use this class am I not getting the option to set my secondary weapon slot to "empty". Any idea why that might be? Thanks for any help!!
Pengos 10 Aug, 2021 @ 2:55am
@Iridar thanks for the clarification. I don't remember if I tried scrolling on the *perk* select screen. I did try scrolling on the class selection screen. I'll give it a shot again in the future with this in mind (using different mods for a new campaign right now.)

When I first read the description, I didn't realize the mention of "soldiers" at the beginning was referring to a specific class. I hadn't tried Musashi's RPGO or new classes before; I assumed it just meant soldiers in general.
Iridar  [author] 1 Aug, 2021 @ 2:49am
@Pengos
As the description says, this mod adds four perk rows for the RPGO's soldier class. You should be able to see them on the soldiers' promotion screen. Have you tried scrolling?
Pengos 1 Aug, 2021 @ 1:00am
I'm not seeing this as an available class when promoting. Are the perks just integrated randomly into other classes? I've been doing my first campaign with Musashi's RPG Overhaul. I have this Stormrider mod and its required mods installed, as well as several other similar mods to add classses to Musashi's RPG Overhaul.

However I have only ever seen 4 classes: rocketeer, infantry, psi operative, soldier. I've promoted about 20 soldiers and those are the options I always get. I have never seen Stormrider or some of the other Musashi's RPG-O compatible classes I added via mods like Infiltrator.

Is there a limit of 4? Or do these perks just appear as options when I pick "Soldier" (I don't think I've seen Stormrider mentioned anywhere in game at least) ...Or is there something I'm missing?
Last Raven 20 Apr, 2021 @ 8:59pm
Stalwart is hilarious. i use about 8 specialisations because LMAO and I've made one of my squad permanently invincible to pretty much everything. I also should say that the Gore ability is perfect with abillites like BladeStorm and Close Combat Specialist as you jut throw the soldier into the largest group and watch the entire map panic.the problem i have are the Breaker and Charger just seem mediocre by comparison. this quickly became one of the best RPGO mods in my eyes.
Iridar  [author] 26 Mar, 2021 @ 12:09am
@Ven
First paragraph of the description of this mod says what kind of specializations it adds.
Ven 25 Mar, 2021 @ 4:29pm
I dont seem to see the Specialisation in the list when i promote a solider to squaddie. I see all the others, but not the ones from this mod? That is, unless its not called Stormrider, and im just overlooking it?
Iridar  [author] 22 Mar, 2021 @ 11:18am
@RuneGuard
There isn't.
765 22 Mar, 2021 @ 11:03am
Also, is there a way to change the riposte melee animation?
765 22 Mar, 2021 @ 10:59am
Love the classes, but every time intercept triggers, it makes the game "think" for almost a full minute afterwards.
Iridar  [author] 24 Feb, 2021 @ 6:33pm
@Tacoaloto
It already supports Ever Vigilant if you get the required mod. I don't recall if I added support for RFA.
Tacoaloto 24 Feb, 2021 @ 6:03pm
I see you made a mention about overwatch related perks. Is there any way to make intercept trigger with ever vigilant and ready for anything?
Sgt. Hobo 21 Feb, 2021 @ 1:19am
I added empty to the rpgo config file "SpecializationMetaInfo = (bUseForRandomClasses=true, AllowedWeaponCategories=(sword, empty), InventorySlots=(eInvSlot_PrimaryWeapon), bMelee=true)" and now it works.
Sgt. Hobo 21 Feb, 2021 @ 1:15am
When using weapon restrictions I can't equip empty hand in the secondary slot.
VoidLight 14 Jun, 2020 @ 11:08pm
@Iridar

The momentum ability granted by theses skills seems to stack with other momentum abilities from other skill paths, weapons and armor (like the ninja armor from the super soldiers mod). It also stacks with skills/perks that allow follow up attacks on kill or attacks (that result in a kill) that only use 1 action point.
DemogorgonWhite 30 May, 2020 @ 1:08am
I really like those specialisations. Animations surprised me in a positive way.
Jestimac 19 May, 2020 @ 8:37am
OK thanks
I am a big fan of stormriders, as you know. I'll be back as a patreon as soon as I can.
Rgds
Iridar  [author] 19 May, 2020 @ 2:53am
@Jestimac
See if learning any Stormrider perk fixes it. If not, use the RPGO_RebuildSelectedSoldier console command.
Jestimac 18 May, 2020 @ 11:37pm
Hello Iridar. I had a campaign going with a few Stormriders. They had the perks. After the changes you introduced, the perks related to "Eye of the storm" (intercept, etc...) do not appear anymore, either in the soldiers abilities (I guess this is normal but the specialization do not appear either) or in the tactical play. Do I need to do something to reactivate them ?
Iridar  [author] 18 May, 2020 @ 11:10am
I made some changes to Intercept, so please report if any part of it looks weird, or if it suddenly stops being compatible with Overwatch-related perks, like Guardian or Cool Under Pressure.
Iridar  [author] 18 May, 2020 @ 11:08am
@everyone
I've released a major update to this plugin. Please check the updated description above so you know how it is supposed to work now.
Heart of the Storm ability has been removed from the mod, because it's no longer necessary. You may see a black icon and "missing localization" warning on your existing soldiers. This is a cosmetic issue and is safe to ignore.
Iridar  [author] 13 May, 2020 @ 12:37am
@Gorokhan
Both Riposte and Bladestorm will work in parallel. There might be some issues with visualization, but functionally they should work.
Riposte doesn't counter all attacks, only the ones that didn't hit or were dodged, normally you cannot that happen 100% of the time without additional abilities and/or items.
Gorokhan 12 May, 2020 @ 10:58pm
Amazing mod, the quality and originality are so impressive that I am surprised this is not sold as an official DLC class for $10.

I do have one question though. What happens if I pick ranger and stalwart specializations on a soldier and then spec into bladestorm and riposte? Will they conflict with each other?

By the way, Riposte is OP as hell, especially against ruler aliens as it counters each of their attack. But I am not asking for a nerf. Fun > balance.
Scroller 5 May, 2020 @ 7:53am
@Iridar - Not to worry, I had no intention of doing that.
Iridar  [author] 4 May, 2020 @ 9:01am
@Scroller
You should not be able to pcik Heart of the Storm multiple times. Even if you can - don't.
Scroller 4 May, 2020 @ 8:27am
After choosing the first ability for the class, I find that I can still pick it from the other specialisations for the class as well - should this be happening? Is it a quirk or is there an aspect to this that I am missing?
Online Addict 5 Apr, 2020 @ 9:34am
Ditto!
IceMaverick 3 Apr, 2020 @ 11:07pm
I'm glad that in 2020 all new class mods already consider RPGO compatibility. Thanks for this.
Derejin 2 Apr, 2020 @ 7:40am
Thank you very much for RPGO compatibility!
Star¤Dagger 31 Mar, 2020 @ 9:22pm
RPGO = the must be compatible with mod. thanks for this!
