Yes. Feel free to do that.

I'm not familiar with Victorium universalis but if it changes major aspects of the vanilla game then this mod is not compatible with it.
Yes, feel free to do so. I also recommend looking at the files of this mod for some of the other minor changes that I made to the client state options, if that's something you're interested in.
Unfortunately, I don't have the time for it but, in principle, it is possible to do for any mod including Anbennar. All that needs to be done is changing the Diplo tech file and adding 'allow_client_states = yes' under one of the early techs. Since Anbennar has unique technology files (iirc), the mod has to be made specifically for Anbennar.
As far as I remember, yes it is.
Yes, indeed there was a problem! I have solved it now. Thanks for pointing out the problem.
it should definitely work with 1.30.6.
is it installed correctly? you can always try manual installation (the file is found here: https://1drv.ms/f/s!ANNPjuR6RV-iaQ)
I reverted back to 1.30 as soon as I saw the mess that was 1.31. I will eventually update my mods, but at the moment I cant bring myself to play eu4 (especially 1.31) or care about it. I'm hoping PDX would get rid or heavily tone down the concentrate capital mechanic which I find to be suuuuper dumb.
i just checked it in 1.30 and it works fine. you can create client states anywhere, regardless of distance, even in colonial territories.
are you trying it in 1.31? even then, i dont think 1.31 should cause any issues with this mod working correctly. do you have any other mods active with this?
it's not updated for 1.31 yet. so it's likely that it doesnt work with it.
it should work fine with 1.30 though.
i myself am using 1.30.6 version at the moment. i will update the mod for 1.31 when PDX actually fixes 1.31...
it should work. the patch was rather insignificant so not too many changes. that being said, do tell me if you run into issues with the mod.
Yes, this does sound like the flags are being forced by the tri-colour revolutionary flag change. For normal tags, they have a preset tri-colour so when they go revolutionary the flags are historical. But I assume for client states (maybe even player created custom nations I'm guessing) the game just uses one generic unchangeable tri-colour combo, which is paradox's fault. It is ridiculous that client states are supposed to be a mechanic tied to revolutionary nations, yet it breaks as soon as they go revolutionary... classic paradox! Sorry that I can't help with this issue.
I noticed something even more strange testing all the options, when I create a new Client State and pick revolutionary for the government, I can't change the flag either, because when I try to switch colors, there's a bland tri-color standard flag that appears.
Interesting! I also don't know if this is an issue with my mod as I have not heard this complaint before.
Are you able to change their names when they go revolutionary? Or is it just the flags that you can't change?
I've got this issue (I don't think it's because of this mod), where my client states become Revolutionary and I can't change their flag back, it's annoying :(
yes, i think it works with beyond typus.
-Client vassals now cost no diplo slot
-Overlord can siphon income from client vassals
-Overlord can enforce culture on client vassals
-Overlord can enforce governor on the client vassals
well I actually tried out the version where the client states could attack... but unfortunately it is quite messy! for example, they can attack the overlord's allies which can put them at war with the overlord (the player)! or they can attack someone and actually lose the war, get annexed and the overlord will not always be able to help. there are some options that may be able to remedy this messy situation but when i tried them they didn't seem to function properly. and to be honest i generally don't like the idea of my AI vassal going to war on its own and take land which i had other plans for.
anyhow, i'm sorry to say that i won't be able to implement the self-war-waging update for the client states. but i made some changes to them. if the client state is not a march then it will not take a diplo slot. i also added some extra options like enforcing culture on the client vassal and siphoning their income.
true! the tributary system might just work. i will look into it and probably implement it when i have time. i might also make so that client states don't take a diplo slot since some people were asking for it.
interesting idea! so i looked into the code of the colonial nations.
as far as i can tell this behaviour for the AI colonies only works in the new world when they face off against "primitive" tags. unfortunately, i don't think it can directly be used for non-colonial non-new-world subjects.
idea variation has a reworked tech file as compared to the base game. i suspect the tech file is the source of the crash. to make this mod and idea variation work, i'd have to make a new version of this mod with idea variation's tech file. unfortunately it's not a problem that would be resolved with a simple compatch on this mod. and i'm not really interested in uploading yet another version of this mod (there's already four!) for the sake of compatibility with other mods.
yes.
