Im also wondering how to change asteroid draw distance to farther away.. the game only uses about 30% of my cpu anyway so it wouldn't hurt to try.

Hey Mr.Freud, thanks for the mod, I consider it essential. If I wanted to mess with asteroid draw distance what parameters should I edit? I got a new beefy CPU and wanted to mess with it :)

Sounds good, what setting do you personally play with? Still trying it out and for some reason when I changed it, it went from a conga-line of vehicles to a much more reasonable amount.

No max, but they will start clipping with each other. Char ddensity will tank performance on stations

@contactnovuspc try unsubscribing, manually checking the mod is gone from the workshop folder, then resubscribing. Sometimes steam screws up mod updates. Could be a corrupted or outdated mod.

I have used this mod before version 7 for awhile...took a few months break from X4 and just came back after 7.1 release. Didn't have issue like this before version 7 and the update. My graphic card is the rtx3090 but my CPU is about 8 years old.....Since i dont see anyone else reporting the same issue, i think its something on my side. I really appreciate you asking question but no need to waste your time looking deeper into it. Thanks :)

Forgot to mention that in sectors with little to no asteroid, i didnt notice much if any flickering on screen. I have everything maxed out in graphic settings and i run the game no order mods enabled.

After more testing, I think the flickering is likely caused by having too many objects to render at once. It flickers for a few seconds and then stops, depending on the number of objects on screen, the flickering could last as long as 10 seconds or more. As my ship moves and new objects appear, the flickering starts again. This is especially noticeable when I'm in an asteroid field with many large asteroids and with my large Player HQ complex in view.

With this mod enabled, I'm getting planets and asteroids flickering on screen as I fly around the sector. Anyone else experiencing this problem?

Any chance of bringing this over to the NEXUS, Almost all of my Mods come from the Nexus with only a few left like this one thats not there. Its so much easier to see updates etc on the Nexus.

Yes, it works no problem, but Im making an update/revision of draw distances. Will be out today. This mod is always compatible with all game versions, unles Egosoft completely overhauls the game engine (which will never happen, most probably)

The developers of the game said in the last video that they will sign some mods, cosmetic, quality of life, so that they do not cause the inscription "modified" and work with ventures. I really love your mod, would you like to ask the developers for a signature when this possibility takes place? I would love to play a vanilla game with your mod.

I dont think they changed anything related to draw distances, so yes. Performance impact should be minimal now, with latest engine improvements. Ill update soon, maybe increase it further.

Yes after a few more tests that was the case. If I stayed around in a system for a longer time, i could see new ships which enter the system being rendered at the modified range value.

When I was making the changes initially I think I noticed some kind of hardcoded limit to drawing ships when you first enter a sector. So when you enter a sector you will see a lot of pop in of ships (especially L and XL class) when they first render. Its mostly noticable when you're in travel drive at high speeds (especially whn using mods that increase speeds overall). Maybe that's what you are experiencing.

hmm, its still rather finicky. changing range does not seem to immediately affect view distance of objects. I still had to move real close for the object to load (less than 30km). But once it was in view, I could move as far out as 60km and it would still be in view. I think LOD numbers take initial preference. I still have to test settings

As expected. XL and L ships were originally set at 30000 in your mod, which I doubled to 60000. In game the pop in of XL/L ships increased from 30km to 60km. I havent tinkered with anything else as this was the only thing that seemed to bother me

Edit LOD numbers. Lower LOD numbers = higher draw distance. Range numbers are leftovers from X Rebirth and not used anymore.

hey, been loving the mod, however i cant help but notice that ships in space seem to have a max distance of about 40km or so. Seems out of place when large ships just pop in out of nowhere when getting close. Is this normal?

How do you actually uninstall this? I turned the extension off, and even deleted the mod from the extensions folder itself, but in the graphics settings I still have LOD and effects settings, I've also noticed in the config XML that masstraffic is still present.
