YES!!! IT WORKED!!! I re-downloaded the backdating kit and now I can open this route up in 64-Bit! I thought it would go unsolved!

I was suspecting this - I did a cmd "dir /s *.out" on the whole asset folder to not miss anything!

Good team effort - and thanks again for all you've done for Train Simulator, Michael!

Cheers!

UPDATE: Route now works again in 64-bit game mode.

To get the update, please simply redownload and reinstall the assets pack which is linked in the description above.

Thanks again to everybody who reported this issue and helped me fix it.

Spikee1975: thank you so much for your help! So here's what happened: all this time I was looking through the files in the XBackdatingKit\Signals folder, completely failing to realize that there was another set of signals in XBackdatingKit\GNStuff\Signals. It was your kind messages that have finally lead me on the right track. Ah, the joys of cobbling together an asset pack from different sources. :-D

In that "new" folder, I've immediately spotted the known trouble makers from the other routes. So hopefully this should now be an easy fix... fingers crossed!

It is definitely the signal scripts.

Remove all three script folders (XBackdatingKit\GNStuff\Signals\GNScripts, NHScripts and XBackdatingKit\Signals\GNScripts-Sema) and the route loads fine in 64bit.

Can't do more because I don't have the tools to uncompile .out scripts. :)

First test was running the route without the BackDating kit. Runs in 64bit.
So we'll have to dig into the assets...

Hello Michael, I'll have a look and make some tests :)

(I had discovered the signals were responsible for the HL/SP/SF crashes after the core update)

Update: I don't know what's broken on the route. I don't think it's the custom signals in the backdating kit, as neither replacing and re-exporting all the scripts with ones from routes that work nor completely deleting the scripts makes the route load. (Those tricks worked on the other affected routes.)

To be honest, I don't have a clue what's going on. It's also strange that only this route is affected but not the backdated Hi-Line, which uses the same extra assets pack.

Thankfully the 32-bit workaround is still possible, so I'm afraid that's for now the only "solution" I can offer -- play the route in 32-bit mode.

Thanks for the heads-up about this, dmgibbs. This is most likely the same issue that already plagued my other routes. I'll see what I can do.

It looks like as a result of this core update, the game freezes while loading the route. I think the GN signalling needs to be updated.

Maria's Pass still is a wonderful route. You made it even better. I'm in heaven. Thank you, Michael.

Marias Pass has been made available globally now. I hope the same happens to Stevens Pass and the GN trains as well. Been lusting over this for years now. I own Great Cascadian and I love it.

Thanks Michael, will do.

Thanks much for the kind comments.

@mindenjohn: You don't have to wait for the Steam Store Empire Builder -- there's a freeware equivalent available for free at RWA (albeit using somewhat older models). Search the file library for repaints of DTM's (Cesar Pach's) original F7s done by me, and Rick Grout's G-TraX lightweight passenger coach set. :-)

Because of the licensing issues (now thankfully resolved) I have only just had the opportunity to check this out. What a wonderful job done. The original MP is great and the back dating is superbly and carefully done. Even the electric signals are those of the GN. There is an enormous amount of work in converting vehicles to the period as well as the many track tweaks, siding and other detail alterations. It's a pleasure just roaming to find the differences! This will give hours of pleasure especially when I can access the Empire Builder - you can't have the HiLine and Marias Pass 1950-1970s without the flagship. Highly recommended and grateful thanks.

Hi trebasm82: This isn't a problem I've encountered before. Have you tried unsubscribing and re-subscribing to the Workshop items? Restarting the game in between might also help.
BNSF 2893 13 Dec, 2020 @ 3:46pm
I downloaded the backdating pack from your website and it works if I build my own route but, for some reason when I go into the game the backdated route does not show up in the game, it dose not let me select it to make scenarios for either can you help me.

This and the Hi-Line are incredible and exactly what I want from Train Simulator, seeing as there's so few routes that are set during the transition era. Will we be seeing any more of these in the future, preferably without requiring US-only content to run some era-appropriate trains on?
æterna 9 Apr, 2020 @ 8:41am
Thanks, it is amazing. I am a fan of your content. Especially the scenarios coming with it!
sykartracer 8 Apr, 2020 @ 10:42am
Well, your fix for the files worked as they now fully show up. I'll give them a play later and see how awesome it is.
GreatNortherner  [author] 8 Apr, 2020 @ 1:11am
Thanks for the heads-up about the scenarios not showing up! As it turns out, I mixed up the two .rwp files for the Empire Builder runs and the scenery template scenarios. All should work now if you redownload the files from the original links above. Sorry for the confusion!

I don't plan on merging the two routes, I quite like Shelby as a place to split scenarios and at the current run time of up to two hours, I'm already pushing the limits of my own attention span and also the sim's stability. The longer a scenario, the more can go wrong with AI timings and also it increases the likelihood that one saves to resume later, which can sometimes cause problems too (especially with steam engines).

Hello Michael, great job!!! Everything is fine...'except'...I am missing the ALCo S2 GN repaint of Dogmouse ALCo S2 (noticed this using RW tools)...I cannot find it on Railworks America site...nor on yours...where to find please...thank you in advance.
sykartracer 7 Apr, 2020 @ 7:17pm
Great Route Michael, really good. Any plans to combine this one with your backdated Hi-Line, so that we could do a Train 1/2 across the entire Subdivision?
Although, I cannot get the available scenarios to appear in-game for some reason. They're in my files on my HD, but they just don't appear. I uninstalled and downloaded the new backdating kit, then installed the route, making sure it appears in-game before installing the .rwp via the utilities. Any support you can offer to help?
