Abilities like Soulfire and Void Rift do no damage. While Null Lance and Schism does.
Any reason why?

If you have XCS then give this a try. I'll be coming out with a Lite version and then A Better Agent and A Better Arsenal all with Lite versions here soon.
What it sounds like is that the load order is, well, out of order. My mod has to load after LWOTC so it can overwrite their config values. The fact that you got no change in the soldiers suggest this is the case. I'll do some testing and get back to you.
I sure appreciate the help and if you are cool with it I'll add you as a dev so we can chat on this in detail in the private dev comments.
I did notice that soldier's aim still sucked BAD on the first mission and the soldier's HP wasn't that different. I am using a Stat Randomizer mod (Point-Based Not Equal), so they are going to be different.
After I got to the Avenger, I checked to see if the 'Better X' mods were working and... they aren't. I'm playing on Legendary so with 'Better Start' I should have 1150 Supplies, but I've got 175. Like I said, my aim REALLY SUCKED. I've got soldiers with mobility of 13 and that definitely sounds low. I did verify in the AML that they ARE checked. Lol.
Soooo...... What do we do now, bud?
I can only assume that it's because the mod is unsupported and not being built by standard means, but rather by community involvement. Also, the mod is currently only in it's developmental stage so there are potential for a flurry of bugs. Currently, I'm using Dev 11, however I've heard they are up to Dev 13 at least.
@Scuba,
Well, I know I've said it already, but your work and effort to make these mods compatible with LWotC is greatly appreciated. Yeah, it's always the intent of anything "Long War" to extend the life of the game and the war which I've always found very compelling. I remember when they made LW for EU. Oy! What a change! Lol. I'm sure you're learning a lot... about LW2 and about XCOM. Keep up the good work! I await your release of Better Rookie Beta!
One of the things I have tried to keep in mind is the spirit or intent of the Long War devs is that the game takes longer and goes deeper. My mods have a tendency to accelerate the game so I am working to buff things without making the acceleration a little slower. ...well at least in the LITE version.. The research and building time scalars in the full version of A Better Start allow you to research all the way to beam weapons and powered armor with a full built out facility in the first 7 game days.. A little play testing of LWOTC shows that they still find ways to stretch out the time of such things.
I will make sure to put that link in the descriptions of my LWOTC mods when I finish them.
Do pay close attention to install the mods required with it. All of those can be found on Steam.
