Neither does editing the files of the long war mod itself.
An update would be fantastic, or at least maybe some advice on how to do it myself, im pretty dumb.
1/ copy the mod in your local Mods folder (see comment below some guys explain it very well
AND
2/ don't forget to add the local mods folder in AML under Options/settings/Mod directory
I think most people (including me!) who could not make it work forgot to tell AML to actually look for the mod locally.
Steam > Steamapps > Workshop > Content > 268500 > 2683996590 > Config
You can manually edit these files to your desired values
XComGameCore.ini
XComGameData.ini
XComLW_Overhaul.ini
Took me about 15 minutes to give myself the easier start I wanted without a complete difficulty overhaul.
Option -> Settings -> Mod Directories -> Add.
Basically, by moving the folder from steam workshop mod folder to your local mod folder, youre making a fake duplicate of it. To resolve this, you'll need to unsubscribe to the steam workshop while keeping the files.
To better understand and fix this, do the following:
-Sub on this mod
-move the files to Desktop
-unsub this mod
-Open AML and right-click delete the greyout one then close
-Move the copied files from desktop to your local mod folder
-Open AML
AML should now show the right file without any duplicates.
If AML says theres a duplicate once you load, just delete the one who is active (It's usually the subscribed version) then activate the "duplicated" one that's not active. (Thats the local one.
That should make the game read LWoTC and this mod.
-DOWNLOAD XCOM 2 Alternate Mod Launcher. (Use it, its better than the default 300%)
-Subscribe to all your preferred "A Better Mod"
-Move the folder of mod to your local mod folder. (Move the whole folder with , for this, its 2051433063 to your local mod folder location, its usually steamapps\common\XCOM 2\XCom2-WarOfTheChosen\XComGame\Mods)
-Use AML to activate the mod.
-Thats it. Youre good to go.
(Theres no need to make LWOTC Local, only the A Better series mod you prefer.)
lwotc is now on steam
@I don't even know.
I've had success with not unsubscribing and only enabling the one that is in the same folder as LWotC.

If you have XCS then give this a try. I'll be coming out with a Lite version and then A Better Agent and A Better Arsenal all with Lite versions here soon.
