Also does it take power and time to use?
There comes a error message cause by missing techprints after may update.
This error may could destroys some traders (0 silver / 0 goods)
This already happenned to "Vanilla Furniture Expanded - Security" / - "Spacer Module" but allready got fixed.
You could try my guide to fix it with this mod. It is simple.

Could you please create an option to install the orbital scanner indoors? This mod is great to play with save our ship 2.3, and look for merchants to trade with or to attack them, but install the orbital scanner outdoors the ship is annoying.

It works like long-range mineral scanner, and need a long time to try a calling.
Other, if the map has 5 or more ships, it could not call a new one.
P. S. Is it compatible with trader ships mod?
