@metadavid,
Thank you for noticing the decor :)
You can try a cool cafe-bar in this map:

Phenomenal map! And spectacular decor. It would be nice to have a cafe-bar in the room somewhere ;-)
Most surprised to find I'd solved it eventually !

Thank you Rooke for noticing the decor :)
The heck of a though puzzle though is entirely due to Mike's talent!

Great looking custom textures and props. One heck of a tough puzzle though.
Dopetob 12 Sep, 2024 @ 6:09pm
it was pretty straightforward for me at least
Dopetob 12 Sep, 2024 @ 6:08pm
I like how many times you reuse the elements where in most chambers you only use it like a couple of times.
The Evina 4 Mar, 2024 @ 2:52pm
Wow, that was an awful lot of steps. Still, I don't think it was as challenging as some of the others.

я в востороге. Перепрошёл 3 раза, чтобы примерно понять, что я делаю. Я лучше карты до текущего момента не играл. Это же шедевр. Нужны тысячи часов в Portal 2, чтобы выдумать такое

I'm thrilled. I replayed it 3 times to get a rough idea of what I was doing. I have not played a better map until now. It's a masterpiece. It takes thousands of hours in Portal 2 to come up with something like this

@Daniel Shine 7 Great work solving a few more of the trickiest entries in the series :]
Daniel Shine 7 21 Sep, 2023 @ 7:20am
Great puzzle, awesome music and cool environment! For some reason this didn't take me nearly as long as the previous one.
Kraken 27 Aug, 2023 @ 9:55am
An all-time great.

Really challenging for me but I got through it eventually and it was really fun!
waghihgaghhhhn 18 Jun, 2022 @ 8:50pm
nice map
SpielSatzFail 15 May, 2022 @ 2:53pm
Most interesting visual concept of all parts. One should as well not underestimate the puzzle in it.
Thumbs up.

@StackSmasher789 Those lower portals are just for anti-trapping :] Excellent work solving this one so quickly! Only one left to go...
StackSmasher789 14 May, 2022 @ 7:12am
I don't know why there were portal surfaces at a lower level, but I solved it. I hope I solved using intended way that involved a ton of cube moving and angles. BTW, the cube's angle indicator doesn't always shine through glass so I required few doovers, not sure if map issue or driver issue though These last 2 puzzles felt significantly easier as compared to 9th one.
Mikeastro  [author] 25 Feb, 2022 @ 8:50am
@Artain Yep, it is true that with a tiny bit of speedrun strats, the gaps can be jumped in this puzzle. The real challenge is of course to solve it without doing that :cozycrashfish:

Surprisingly one I could actually (kinda) solve! :celeste_strawberry:
Though definitely not in the intended way q:
Jumps are fun

Thanks a lot Aneonen, I'm glad you appreciate this different design ! :)
Aneonen 20 May, 2021 @ 3:10pm
Nice puzzle! I liked how many back-and-forth's were in this shuffler.
The pastel(?) coloring was a very nice change of pace, and showcased some good colors without retina-roasting.
quat 27 Jan, 2021 @ 10:43pm
really like this one
Mikeastro  [author] 21 Nov, 2020 @ 11:46am
@Gabriel Bacon Haha thanks a lot :D Difficulty is of course subjective, sorry about that. I'm very happy to hear that you liked it. Excellent work solving it!
Gabriel Bacon 21 Nov, 2020 @ 11:10am
This took me a long time! I declare the difficulty to be more in the 7-8 range, but thanks for making me feel dumb with the 3.5 rating. Really, really good puzzle & fresh aesthetics. Hope you don't mind if I borrow an idea I learned here for a future map :)
Mikeastro  [author] 18 Nov, 2020 @ 11:59am
@Lorne Malvo Yeah, doing that is possible with some care, but sadly unintended. I'm sure you can find a solution without having to do that :]
Silenius 18 Nov, 2020 @ 11:25am
You said your maps require no execution difficulty. I was able, when walking across bridge, to cast one portal to the right side - at the same time i jumped across bridge. I wasn't that hard. Also i don't know how would you crate teleport on that side, as you need to move cube first to the left side - as there is no portal on cube island. I didn't find any other solution when thinking about it, but it was possibly unintended solution dunno
jp  [author] 24 Oct, 2020 @ 5:13am
@Muzozavr, Thank you for this interesting feedback on the design side of the map.

You were right: a flashier lighting does not render well with those flat colors. (I also tried a full compile, but then all the whites and light zones become "burned". Plus, the water texture becomes too blue and I wanted to keep it very dark...
So we decided with Mike that the best result was achieved with this rather discreet lighting. (Also to let the player concentrate on the puzzle ;)

As for the blood on the grating, I didn't notice that myself; that's weird. Could be a reflection from the skybox (?).

Very nice of you to notice and report all those graphic details : thank you! :steamhappy:
Mikeastro  [author] 23 Oct, 2020 @ 3:06am
@Muzozavr Yep, this one is often considered a little easier than some that came before it. Still, great work solving it and I'm glad you enjoyed it. And you'll have to ask jp about the blood - that wasn't my doing xD
Muzozavr 23 Oct, 2020 @ 2:25am
Wasn't nearly as difficult as some of the previous ones (like #9), but a very interesting puzzle, indeed. The visual style is interesting here, with the contrast between a clean-looking (if not sterile) chamber and hints of dirtiness elsewhere (was that blood on one of the gratings in the exit elevator room?!), but the lighting does look a bit flat. On the other hand, I can't say that flat lighting doesn't suit this color scheme - maybe flashier shading would actually look worse here? I don't know...

Interestingly, I didn't feel like there was one "big" trick this time, just lots of small individual ones that add up. Excellent portal relocation moves.

Funny note: tried squeezing myself into the grate again just for fun... instead of pushing you through like in #10, this grate kills you if you're trapped inside! I *did* manage to get the cube to clip INTO the grate (could get it out with portals again), but not all the way through. ;)

@KØ414 B33R Fantastic work solving it! Goes to show that hard work really does pay off. Thanks a lot for playing :D
KØ414 B33R 6 Sep, 2020 @ 5:31pm
FINALLY!! Been coming back to this one for almost 2 wks now. Don't know why it seemed so difficult. When I got it, it seemed so logical, but I'm not so sure I could go back and just walk through it right away. A nice map that "just" takes patience and thought. Thanks!
jp  [author] 2 Sep, 2020 @ 4:25am
@P75Formula Jr, Thank you a lot, I really appreciate your caring and feedback about this design in Hammer. Have fun! :steamhappy:
A05Polzar 24 Aug, 2020 @ 2:22pm
First thing is first @jp did an amazing job with the hammer work. I did not find this puzzle as difficult as the previous 3 (probably because I remembered something from an earlier puzzle), but it was still great.
Mikeastro  [author] 3 Jul, 2020 @ 3:32am
@BehindPortal Impressive solving it so fast! Did you solve it the intended way? Anyway, thanks for playing once again :]
BehindPortal 3 Jul, 2020 @ 3:17am
easy not like previous series maps. took less than 5 min. :steamhappy:
Mikeastro  [author] 18 Jun, 2020 @ 2:06am
@mr. Out Impressive pulling that off! I'm glad to hear that you stuck around to solve it the intended way :]
mr. Out 17 Jun, 2020 @ 11:33pm
You can beat this map, when you make portal from the bridge and quickly jump to the site with cube and portal place. Now is this map so easy. I was solve this way on first. What a disappointment. I had to play it againt and find correct solution. ;)
jp  [author] 24 May, 2020 @ 3:50pm
Yep! :)
Towelie Clegane 24 May, 2020 @ 3:42pm
was that supposed to be a window on the right at the end ?
EndOfPortal 21 May, 2020 @ 5:37am
Not too difficult but a very good puzzle. The design is very well done too. :SpRad_ThumbsUp:
kwinten 1 May, 2020 @ 8:07am
great map ! very cool puzzle seeing how compact it is. The visuals are weird to me (a mix between clean patches of textures and.. dirty glass & grids ?). Nice touch with the volumetric light
Thumbs up !

@RichardDXY Thanks for playing. Glad you liked it
@gelax_x Thank you for playing as well!
@Joric Ok comment. Thanks for stopping by
