Thanks for the mod! Can I use it with LWotC?

Just finished a campaign with about 685 mods, this one included, and had no major issues! Thanks for putting this up.

Thanks! Yes, I always though a height advantage should increase defense.

I have no idea why this was not in the game by default. When I first played XCOM 2, I took it by assumption that a height advantage helped my defense, only to find out when people started getting killed it doesn't do anything! Baloney!

Thanks, I'll add it to the description.

Hey Alex, I think I figured out what the issue I had with this mod was. It turns out EU Aim Rolls is incompatible with this, since EU Aim Rolls "Ignores existing config for squadsight penalty and height advantage bonuses in your xcom config". Might be worth adding that into the description since its a pretty common mod!

I won't bother for now, since my modlist is currently too much for my Laptop to handle. Appreciate the help you gave me though!

Next step would be to try and verify your game. That usually fixes any problems after I mess something up.
Flashstriker 9 Sep, 2020 @ 6:01am
Nope, looks like it'sjust your mod changing things. I'll have to figure this out then

Roger roger, will get on that

Open your File Explorer and go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\268500

Then in the search bar, type UnitHeightDisadvantagePenalty and make sure you have "File Contents" selected to be searched (in Advanced Search Options) at the top of the File Explorer. It will pull up any mod files that have that term within them. You can then open the files to check for yourself if a mod is doing something with it.

Where would I run this search?
Alex Nares  [author] 8 Sep, 2020 @ 6:47am
Run a search for "UnitHeightDisadvantagePenalty" to see if any other mods are changing that parameter.
Flashstriker 8 Sep, 2020 @ 5:54am
It must be a pretty hidden conflict if so, since the AML hasn't mentioned it. I'll see if I can figure it out by diving through my mod list
Alex Nares  [author] 8 Sep, 2020 @ 4:56am
If it says 20%, then that's what it is. The UI does not lie when it comes to those elements (excluding Aim Assist bonuses). But that means another mod is conflicting with this mod.
Flashstriker 8 Sep, 2020 @ 3:29am
Yeah I kind of gathered that there was no perk, but as far as I can tell the aim bonus is still 20%/ I'll test it a bit more though
Alex Nares  [author] 7 Sep, 2020 @ 11:44pm
It is working for me, so I am not sure what could be causing that. For clarification, it is not a perk that will be visible in F1. When aiming at an enemy, it should be shown in the breakdown that says like "Weapon Range +12%", "Aim +75%", "Defense -15%", "High Cover +40%", etc. Sorry that I can't help.
Flashstriker 7 Sep, 2020 @ 2:23pm
This doesn't appear to be working. I'm in Gatecrasher and spawned on a roof, and have height advantage over the first Trooper pod. I still have the +20 aim bonus and not a +10, and theres no Height Disadvantage perk on the enemies when I use F1 on them

The fact this feature was removed when it existed in EU/EW annoys me. Thank you

No worries, cheers.

To my knowledge, no it is not already in game. All units have a sight range of 17 tiles, regardless of elevation. Sight radius can be changed in the CharacterStats ini file, but there isn't any way to configure it based on elevation. I'm sure it could be possible through some mod work, but it's beyond my skill at this point.
tastiger841 1 May, 2020 @ 5:06am
Could you also add increased sight range for units that have Height Advantage? Or is it already in game?
Alex Nares  [author] 30 Apr, 2020 @ 2:13pm
In the default settings, Height Advantage gives +20 Aim. It does not confer a defense bonus. I think what you are referring to was true in XCOM: EU but it is not the same here.
Franimus 30 Apr, 2020 @ 1:16pm
I thought this already effectively happened because height advantage converts low cover to high cover?
