Someone has picked up the mod here: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3353777630
Hope you enjoy!
Sadly broke as of 3.12
Truly was one of my favorite Portrait mods!
I understand what you're talking about now.
1. If you don't like it you can just learn to mod for yourself.
2. My mod DOES add them to the buildable pops pool for all empires. There's a 50% chance of an empire using my mod or the vanilla pops when they research robotics.
No, I mean, why can't most Robot portrait modders just add the portraits to the Robot portrait pool? Almost every such mod that has ever been made insists on making them their own race, or only selectable by players at race creation, or as part of some massive overhaul mod that is incompatible with almost every other mod in existence. How hard is it to just make them Robot portraits? Robot portrait mods are cursed. Cursed I say. I resent the suffering that Robot Portrait modders insist on inflicting on the rest of the playerbase.

Thanks! I don't imagine it would be difficult to make a synthetic portrait. You would just go about creating the species as an organic one, but then specify that it uses machine looking portraits. Mine are machine empires because I wrote them that way, but I don;t know of any issues that would prevent what you're looking for if a modder wanted to do it.
This mod doesn't do anything but add a new class of machine portraits. So what you're describing probably won't work. I think there is another mod that does what you want and allows you to change the portrait of your robots in an existing save. My mod doesn't have that functionality.
So I ask, can I modify my robots into robots with this skin? OR should I create a new robot species (separate species)?
I don't think I understand what you're asking. Are you referring to the robomodding tech in the game? Are you asking about changing the robot portraits that your empire uses?
As far as I know, you cannot change the which robot portrait a biological empire uses from within the game. This is what I was talking about in my last comment. I would like to make it possible for the portraits I made to be used by biological empires. But for now, they will only work as the player empire.
Hope that helps to clarify.
Unfortunately, I haven't figured out how to get the AI to use these or how to get non player robots to use these. I am still learning to mod and that is one thing I'd like to get added to this.
