Just letting subscribers here know, I've updated this mod for v1.4 and added a Redwing Blackbird at: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2882395828

I'm not sure if it's a problem with the mod or the specific pawn, but my colony's raven will eat continuously as long as it has access to food o_O
Meanie 28. dec. 2021 kl. 22:38
I started a new world and a Peregrine Falcon immediately began fighting a flock of ravens. After killing them, while eating their corpses, a second Peregrine Falcon came and began fighting the first. The first died due to previous pains and now the new Peregrine Falcon is feasting on his corpse. It's a tough world out there.

The cockatiels were merrily chirpling on the side, lovely sounds.
Hydromancerx 18. okt. 2021 kl. 10:28
Can you make the Ravens slightly larger? I tired to train them to haul but it said they are too small.
Jesus of Nazareth 15. okt. 2021 kl. 12:41
@laurier - Funnily my real budgies are exactly like that, haha xD
laurier 7. sep. 2021 kl. 0:28
I think budgies are getting hungry far too fast.
It's very pathetic to see them go hungry again right after they have eaten, and all they can do is eat grass for a whole day.
obsidian29 30. aug. 2021 kl. 11:19
Did you fix the white outline on the graphics yet? I'm excited to have this back!
BloodW0lf 16. aug. 2021 kl. 17:04
any chance you can make Vultures spawn in many more bioms? or maybe Turkey Vultures for more tempret bioms? Love the mod thank you for the hard work!
ConfectionaryCanine83 7. aug. 2021 kl. 2:13
can you add pelicans? no reason but
Michiko 7. aug. 2021 kl. 2:12
Is it normal for peregrine falcons to be killing and eating each other even if there's other food available? D:
GHOST 30. juli 2021 kl. 16:03
Heya! I was wondering if you could give the Falcon advanced trainability? That way, they could be used with the "Hunt for me!" mod, as well as being able to be used as drafted attack animals so our pawns can go falconing :>
Dizzy Ioeuy 25. juli 2021 kl. 19:03
Sent you the new bird included in the bird up zip at your github. Hope it meets the standard.
Dizzy Ioeuy 25. juli 2021 kl. 13:46
Dude, I gotta blackbird coming your way soon- but I want you to preview the art before I go further.. It's a *slightly* different style from originals but closely follows the same basic outline. I've vectored it so we can scale up to HD resolutions if you want. Friend request to you, etc .
kestrel  [ophavsmand] 25. juli 2021 kl. 10:37
@Dizzy Ioeuy - Mlie is helping with coding nowadays, I really appreciate his help! If you'd like to contribute in the future with some ideas; we've got a github page going :) Whether you'd like to keep your species separate and add them to my bundle, it's up to you!
Dizzy Ioeuy 25. juli 2021 kl. 10:30
Oops, perhaps I'll just take mine private. I thought you were retired, man. And here I was about to add a redwing blackbird. :)

1.3 Update now ready!
Dizzy Ioeuy 23. juli 2021 kl. 13:38
@roosterdreams: can I pass the audition?

For anyone who cares I have updated this mod for 1.2 and 1.3 with some small changes:

Ascythian 4. juni 2021 kl. 16:11
I don't think its particularly hard to update it to 1.2.

Could I be wrong?
Mlie  [ophavsmand] 4. juni 2021 kl. 9:29
@RoosterDreams No problem, sent a friend request!
kestrel  [ophavsmand] 4. juni 2021 kl. 8:36
@Mlie I'd like it to stay as a separate mod, preferably the way it is currently if it's not a problem to you. Feel free to add me if you wanna discuss the whole thing!
Mlie  [ophavsmand] 1. maj 2021 kl. 21:56
@RoosterDreams I and Hydromancerx have a mod called Legacy Ark that perhaps could benefit from having more birds in it as well.
https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2070686241

If you think its better to keep it as a separate mod I could do the coding for it instead. Ive done a few mods and updates.
kestrel  [ophavsmand] 1. maj 2021 kl. 13:10
Since I've started working full-time I might not have time to update this mod anymore, I wouldn't want to abandon it though. If someone's interested in taking over the coding part I'd be grateful! I'm looking for someone with Rimworld coding experience and preferably someone who has done some mods already. I can still work on the art part of the mod for the future updates
Bat Crow 25. apr. 2021 kl. 5:19
1.2 when?
Siyo 23. apr. 2021 kl. 13:10
Any plans to add Toucans? Asking for a friend. (He's a Duke.)
Bloody Kagami 13. apr. 2021 kl. 16:39
Since all the birds are laying fertilised I fixed the problem for myself. In the race defs the following line needs to be added <eggProgressUnfertilizedMax>0.5</eggProgressUnfertilizedMax> above <eggCountRange>. I don't know whether the positioning above the eggCountRange actually matters, but the hens will only lay eggs after fertilisation afterwards. :lilimok:

Falcons are as bad as the damned eagles in Far Cry 3 and 4... constantly picking fights with colonists. Now I have to mix this mod with Kill For Me so that I can instruct my anti-falcon beasts to murder them all at first appearance before they inevitably start trying to hunt my poor tribals. :D
Lis 16. mar. 2021 kl. 16:02
Noticed a wee typo on the Races_Animals_<bird> defs, usually about line 46/47. <eggUnfertilizedDef> is pointing to the wrong object, so all birds are laying fertilized eggs, even if they haven't mated. I don't think Peregrines have that typo, but the rest do. Also, not sure if it's a mod conflict (so it can be entirely on my end), but the animals can't be sold. Hope this helps!
guiguig 13. mar. 2021 kl. 18:29
Found this while searching for "The Birds and The Bees" mod and now this is my new favorite mod
Lis 10. mar. 2021 kl. 16:11
Dude, I love you so much for this. You're awesome and this mod is awesome.

@pugman
If only you knew the power of the birb side...
Elemess 23. feb. 2021 kl. 16:45
man this has to be the worst mod on the internet
liosalpha 12. feb. 2021 kl. 20:57
they are on the same IA as the other vanilla hunting animals. Thou i only seen the Raven and Falcons hunt my colonist
Karmapowered 10. feb. 2021 kl. 4:30
Could someone please describe how the animals of this series of mods "work" ? Do they idle around on land like other RW animals ?

An interesting behaviour for "bird" animals could be to appear on the map only for the time it takes to hunt down a prey, then fly off/disappear again shortly after consuming their catch.

Getting to have a peek at these magnificent predators would therefore be more situational and have an enjoyable rarity factor, quite like in RL.

All this being said, the bird textures are beautiful. Thank you very much for sharing the mods with us.
obsidian29 31. jan. 2021 kl. 8:26
@RoosterDreams can I request the hyacinth macaw please? One of my characters has one and I like to add him using Prepare Carefully, and I've been using the blue macaw as a placeholder, but it'd be awesome to see the full majesty of the hyacinth macaw in Rimworld.
Either way, please take care of yourself and don't let anyone pressure you into working when you're not up to it!
liosalpha 10. dec. 2020 kl. 5:22
@sunlight88, it works fine in 1.2
using it my self
Sunlight88 10. dec. 2020 kl. 5:16
Hi RoosterDreams,
can you please update to 1.2? I really would like to have some birds in my new games...:)
Marva 3. dec. 2020 kl. 14:03
Does this work with 1.0?

Time to deliver a pizza ball.
kestrel  [ophavsmand] 21. aug. 2020 kl. 13:32
@liosalpha - whoops, thanks for pointing that out :)
liosalpha 21. aug. 2020 kl. 7:48
found a minor typo in the fert. mecaws egg description.

"You can it it, but should you."
Thanks for making this mod
DarkArtistryNKP 12. aug. 2020 kl. 10:32
@Heart of Mud
I think it's possible that ether Animals Logic or Vanilla Animals Overhaul address's that size limitation, because i don't think foxes can haul in vanilla because of that size limit. But i could be wrong about this. Though if this is the case it only effects vanilla animals...
kestrel  [ophavsmand] 12. aug. 2020 kl. 8:31
The mod should work with 1.2, will check it today evening and update the code if it doesn't. Sorry for the lack of updates, been kinda busy with life but I'll get back to adding new birds at some point :)
Videogameplayer 12. aug. 2020 kl. 7:55
Bird up! We need our berds in 1.2! :P

@DarkArtistryNKP yes I don't know the exact body size threshold but once animals get small enough having adv. intelligence doesn't serve any extra purpose. Ideally adv. training would be possible & they'd be able to carry light items (or even rescue light creatures like other small colony pets) but the design seems to be all or nothing. This is a vanilla aspect tho which I don't believe this mod seeks to change. Perhaps a future mod will address this?
DarkArtistryNKP 11. aug. 2020 kl. 10:58
So not sure if this is a rimworld limitation due in relation to carry mass. But even though ravens have advanced trainable intelligence, they can't be trained to haul?
Felios 22. juli 2020 kl. 0:08
got a weird error, considering I had no Falcons on the map https://gist.github.com/HugsLibRecordKeeper/296e73fa77d896ee470aec4d98764541 No visible problems though, I love this mod! per @WaKKO151 you should look at Alpha Animals or Harpies to see about removing movement costs or adding a fly action :D If I gave you sprites would you be ok uploading them? It wouldn't take very long and I don't mind!
