Update: I have uploaded new version with fixed Advanced menu. My job here is done.
Snowdrop 11 Jul @ 12:01pm
Update: I managed to get working advanced menu, but first I will confirm everything before release
Snowdrop 11 Jul @ 10:13am
Maybe in the future I will fix advanced menu, but first I need to get know API first
Snowdrop 11 Jul @ 10:10am
Also, as mentioned by Noverian, use mod settings instead of advanced menu
Snowdrop 11 Jul @ 10:09am
I made a fork with a fixed About.xml to show compatibility with the new version. Also, I bumped all libs versions.

Seems to work on 1.6, but you need to change the map size you want in the mod settings and not on the advanced settings when generating a planet.
Marcel 11 Jul @ 8:55am
Pls we need this mod to be compatible for 1.6
Server Hamster 11 Jul @ 8:50am
Is this going to work for 1.6? It seems to be generating a 250x250 even when I set it to larger. I need my *b i g m a p*

Hmm added this to my current game and it prevented the colony from rendering correctly. Most of the colony was grey and the lower left of the screen would appear while also flashing. Started a new colony to test that issue and it continued there to. This was in 1.5

Really hoping this gets patched and also working for 1.6

1.6 please?
Madara Uchiha  [author] 1 Jul @ 1:54pm
@Thurnis Haley it is not.

Is this the mod that's added the plant density and animal density sliders underneath the map size slider when I click "Advanced" in the tile selection screen?

Im having an Issue with the custom map size input not showing on the menu when making a new colony, I assumed it was a mod conflict with RimCities custom map size but disabling it didnt work does anyone have any ideas? i dont have a log that crashes out when i open it so im lost of what it could be.
Tree4Life 25 Jun @ 11:01pm

@Àlpharus was is good?

I made the mistake of trying to run 3000x3000 on my steam deck.

@Themanguykid Not aware of such a mod, but you can fairly easily edit your savefile and change the world generation Width and Height properties. You will need to find the correct file to edit, open it with a text editor, locate the correct properties, make your change, then load the file and the next tile you settle should have the new size (the old, already generated tiles will not be affected). If you need more help, the fellas on the RimWorld Discord can help you for sure.
Themanguykid 16 Mar @ 12:44pm
is there a mod that allows me to change map size mid game? I'm looking to move to a new tile but everything is too small.
Madara Uchiha  [author] 1 Mar @ 1:58pm
@Errant_Prophet I believe that is the default.
Errant_Prophet 28 Feb @ 8:06pm
Is there a way to make your 2nd or 3rd colonies on the same map the same size as the initial colony?
Madara Uchiha  [author] 28 Feb @ 4:35am
@SylviaGrim the author of Geological Landforms tested and found no inherent incompatibility.
SylviaGrim 23 Feb @ 7:13pm
How old is the description info for Geological Landform incompatibilities?
Centrelink 18 Feb @ 2:08pm
@Nazzanbexs make a 499x499 map :P
Big [REDACTED] Marty 16 Feb @ 1:05pm
@nazzanbexs what in the RimWorld™ do you need more than 500x500 for that 500x500 can't provide?
Madara Uchiha  [author] 16 Feb @ 1:01pm
@nazzanbexs "NOTE: There are no checks on the sizes you input. If you put in sizes too small or too large, it may fail in spectacular ways. If that happens, please send me a video of your computer catching fire."
nazzanbexs 14 Feb @ 11:59pm
please help when i choose a map sizer bigger then 500 the games crashes the maps smaller then 500 not big enough
what is love 30 Dec, 2024 @ 5:44am
thanks you
Big [REDACTED] Marty 13 Dec, 2024 @ 11:12am
@m00nl1ght thanks, i still had it turned off just in case, and it turns out that version of land forms was breaking my outpost gen, all factions had 1 settlement i had no idea why, so this being fixed again is worth it to me
Madara Uchiha  [author] 13 Dec, 2024 @ 8:32am
@Icarus that is correct. This mod modifies the height and width properties created during world generation. It does that one time at the start of the run, and this information is stored in the save file. You can, however, edit your savefile and change the values there. Note that I don't think this works for encounters, I think those have a different sizing.
Icarus 7 Dec, 2024 @ 2:33am
"Does not affect existing save files", does that mean I can't change the size of NEWLY generated maps in a save, like in an encounter?
m00nl1ght 30 Nov, 2024 @ 3:20am
@Big [REDACTED] Marty

Yes, however I would not recommend less than 50x50, most landforms will just look weird at that point.
Big [REDACTED] Marty 29 Nov, 2024 @ 3:07pm
@m00nl1ght does it support smaller than vanilla, but still square, map sizes?
Madara Uchiha  [author] 23 Nov, 2024 @ 3:52am
@zParticle my guess is that this is some sort of game limitation to make sure nothing spawns too close to the edge. This mod only unlocks map sizes, it doesn't do anything to the rest of the game.
zParticle 22 Nov, 2024 @ 12:49pm
On tiny maps (such as 25x25) the ground-penetrating scanner only ever finds resources in the center of the map, which means they overlap and you have to mine through one resource for another to show up. It's not game-breaking but would sure be nice if there was a way to fix it so resources appeared normally.
m00nl1ght 24 Oct, 2024 @ 4:03am
@Muronelkaz

Geological Landforms does not (and will never) support non-square map sizes. It is simply not built for that. Some landform might work ok-ish, but others will break horribly.
m00nl1ght 24 Oct, 2024 @ 3:53am
@Slaine

Hi, I'm the author of Geological Landforms, I could not replicate the issue you described, map size is changing as expected with both mods enabled. Could you please try again with all other mods disabled to confirm the issue is caused by Geological Landforms?
Muronelkaz 22 Oct, 2024 @ 1:09pm
Geo landforms seems to generate via map preview, but I've had CTDs when generating non-square maps twice - however I was able to generate a 225 tall map that was 375 wide - but the map/landform only generated in the left side ~225 square, so half the map was water
Madara Uchiha  [author] 20 Oct, 2024 @ 11:37am
@Slaine
I can't find exactly what it does that overrides the values this mod sets (though I admit I haven't looked very far). I will add it to the known incompatibilities. Cheers
Slaine 20 Oct, 2024 @ 2:16am
@Madara Uchiha I seem to have found the issue casing Better Map Sizes not to be generated to the correct set size. Geological Landforms seems to force the maps back to default sizes.
Madara Uchiha  [author] 19 Oct, 2024 @ 7:24am
@Slaine not that I know of, but it's not unreasonable to think that if a mod (or a setting within a mod) affects map generation (eg. by overriding the size configuration and doing its own thing), that it would disable the effect of this mod.

In essence, this mod does the smallest, simplest, possible thing. It provides a neat UI for the game's own Width and Height parameters for map generation. If anyone bypasses those (or sets those after you've made your pick during scenario setup) then this mod will be ineffective.

You can try posting your HugsLib report here (assuming you have it installed) and I can try to make an educated guess as to which mod is the culprit, but I'll be guessing, same as you.

If you do find out, please let me know so that I can add it to the list in the description.
Slaine 18 Oct, 2024 @ 4:08pm
My map size does not change. Is there any mods that conflict with this one besides RimCities?
PHONESS69 8 Aug, 2024 @ 2:16am
needs update
zebra03 11 Jul, 2024 @ 7:33pm
Actually nevermind, I found an interesting mod combination that appears to change map sizes permentenly
Its RocketMan performance mod
https://www.reddit.com/r/RimWorld/comments/sl9dof/change_map_size_generation/
Though I have done with other map mods called better map sizes(not sure if required or not) and map preview(to check it it worked)
zebra03 11 Jul, 2024 @ 5:45pm
Does this effect caravan encounters by any chance? Just curious since I find certain encounters have too small of a map to really have much strategy for(especially when CE is used)
kev675243 22 Jun, 2024 @ 2:00am
update, might not apply to dev quick test as I regret loading a 1000x1000 map...
kev675243 21 Jun, 2024 @ 12:41pm
my map size seems to be stuck at a max size of 235x235, despite adjusting for larger sizes
Madara Uchiha  [author] 21 Jun, 2024 @ 3:30am
I've found 500x500 to be too large when I tested it last, but that was with my significantly older PC. I don't know how it would behave on newer hardware. In any case, please keep a fire extinguisher nearby and film your PC just in case :D
TcT Goth98 15 Jun, 2024 @ 10:26pm
Does 500x500 sound fine? Or way too big to run correctly?
Oldman 1 Jun, 2024 @ 1:57pm
"... video of your computer catching fire."
LOL :frosted:
