@algernon that would be so nice, that would make the time it takes me to make a neigbourhood like 200% smaller

Maybe something like how the roads have an option to colour all the roads that colour, something similar to colour all asset of that type a certain colour

Is there a way to easily colour all buildings of the same type? A modded asset i use extensively has white, black and grey colour maps but i want to have them all white (otherwise it looks ass), its really time consuming to have to open the menu for every individual building in my city

@pablopmorales99 All three of your questions are actually related to the same thing - the color map (or lack thereof) given to the asset by its creator.

By default, the color set in Recolor only applies to the area of the building that the creator has set to have color changes - the asset creator does this by creating what's called a "color map", which tells the game which parts of the building change colors and which do not.

If no color map is set by the creator, then the whole building will change color (what you're seeing with the residential buildings you mention), as the game has no information about what to color and what to leave (and obviously can't guess).

The "colorize" option duplicates that behavior for assets that do have a color map, in case you want to disregard the asset creator and color the whole building. The "invert" option does the same, but leaves the areas covered by the color map alone.

I seem to have some kind of problem with the color of some (rich) residential buildings. When I choose a color other than white, it does not paint the facade of the building, but the whole building. For example if I choose red color, the whole building becomes red, even the roof. I don't know if it can be a problem of this mod or of the building asset itself, does it happen to anyone else?

@algernon I was misunderstanding the functionality of the "colorize" and "invert" options. The changes just that effect after restart and that is working. I didn't know about that and I thought I would need to restart the game to use those features. Thank you for your attention :)

@GuggleGutFart That's due to the non-standard meshes for the vanilla highways, which lack a color mask. As per the description above, if you want to color vanilla highways you'll need to activate the relevant option in the mod's options panel.

This mod only seems to work on most roads not all of them. Road Color Changer ++ still works for me on all roads. Since that is a dead mod and this one gets updated I would love to make the switch but can't. Is this a known issue? The roads it doesn't like applying to are some highways

@TiF3r PT When using mods, you should ALWAYS exit to desktop between loads, even if ( ESPECIALLY if) you're not using mods like 81 Tiles 2 that are considerate enough to stop you damaging your save by not doing so. That's a fundamental part of using mods in Cities: Skylines.

What exactly do you mean by "can't use"? E.g. the options are missing? Disabled? Something else?

When I try to use the "colorize" and "invert" options it says that requeires a restart, but even after restart I can't use both options and the message is still saying to restart. I've mods like 81 tiles that force me to desktop each time I want to quit the game

Hi @algernon I wonder if you may consider adding the building colormask colors to MoveIt export files? Would be realllllly nice to be able to use MoveIt "Restore" to preserve the chosen custom colormask.

I have no idea about CS modding but my guess is that these roads have another texture layer or something that the retexture mechanic doesn't, well, retexture.

Ok I ve done a retest from scratch. Enabling/Disabling the retexture option has different results (maybe I screwed up with the restarts).

So:

-Disabling every mod but Repaint, Harmony, Loading Screen and the Unlock/Infinite mods with retexture OFF - All vanilla and Vanilla+ highway roads appear with faded segments and black textures on their nodes. The NE Road Replacement highway has this weird line effect.

-Enabling everything with retexture OFF - Same as the above.

-Disabling every mod but repaint, harmony, loading screen and the unlock/infinite mods with retexture ON - Most highways are ok including the old NEXT2 ones. The faded appearance remains to:
Asymmetrical 3-Lane highway with and without sound barriers
4-Lane 2-Way highway with and without sound barriers
All the bus expressways/highways
The Vanilla+ highway
The NE Road Replacement has still the line effect.

-Enabling everything with retexture ON - Same as the above.

If you mean the "Retexture vanilla highways" option, I ve already tried with and without it enabled, with the same results. On the other hand the old roads included in the next2 mod seem to work fine.

@ spH3RiCal That looks like the issue with Vanilla (and Vanilla-derived) highways noted above - see the mod's options panel for an option to replace those textures with more recolor-friendly ones.

I am trying to change my roads' color but I am getting weird results even with the retexture.
Some roads change color without problems others don't, or/and have weird nod/line effects as you can see in the screen shot https://ibb.co/YpbHK1q

Mind that the left six roads are vanilla and the other two custom (the top one from the vanilla+ and the other one from the NE 2 road replacement).

@Wijnand1985 Any Network Skins settings will override anything you do with Repaint; the solution would be to remove any Network Skins settings for the affected segments.

Hello, when i start a new map and i use repaint to change the color of all roads, and then place a new road with network skins active, that road has a color that repaint can't produce. Maybe it has to do with the map theme? Could anyone say if it is possible to apply your favorite network skin to all existing roads in a map? That would be the best solution i think.

@Stuy It is most likely that you've got Network Skins settings for the segments of that road. If you temporarily remove Network Skins, does recoloring work properly?

Yes I just double checked, it is the "Six lane road with decorative grass", it's a vanilla road but I guess it does not work? It colors the intersection, but just not the road. It works for other roads though.

@algernon I forgot to mention I do have Network Skins too since I didn't see it said it was incompatible.

It happens for 6 lane roads, IIRC these were ones from the Mass Transit DLC. If I click the paint brush icon then select a node, that specific road won't change color, but an entirely different road/network changes color.

After modifying the road color and saving it, the next time we continue the game, the road color will be restored to its original state. We need to reset the road color, which is very troublesome. What is the reason for this?

Is it possible to change color of specific building permanently? I mean that also new built objects will have automatically changed color? I have a lot of too bright buildings and I need to change hundreds of them manually,
