Though for the hunting rifle, It does not have any other gun that looks relative the same to it.
Imagine if I re-skinned the wood on the pumpshotgun, and the black on the chrome shotgun.
You would barely notice what shotgun it is.
I think my next skin pack might be a steam skinpack - carbon skinpack with the steam logo. But I will first further experiment with bumpmaps, hopefully being able to create a nice effect for the steam skinpack for people who use high settings.
The only issue I have is that I normally use the wooden stalk to quickly distinguish the Hunting sniper rifle from the Tactical Sniper Rifle. (I know there are other differences in size and shape, but none as qickly recognizable.)
As a note, the pattern might look a little better without edge lines. You may have to adjust the contrast of the two or more "gunmetal" tones to compensate. (It should be light gunmetal black, and dark gunmetal grey. Also, urban environment digital camos tend to have diagonal lines in them as well, usually at 60 to 30 degree angles, always at roughly the same angle criss-cross across the camo. This throws off depth perception against walls.
As of the sounds, they aren't bad. For L4D2 I would rather have "Movie" style sounds, then "realistic" sounds. Still, having the AK47 sound like an AK47 from a movie, and the Glock like a Glock from a movie, would definately be great.
The "Real" sound of a gun is only one of the sounds used in a movie. Some of them are tied to the various events in FPS games, like the bullet's impact on the surface or the rather fake sound of the bullets passing through the air. Other sounds are tied to the trigger itself, like the gun mechanism sounds (recorded separately on several mics, both ambiant and surface, to be made louder, cleaner and clearer) and the gunshot itself (recorded from several points for high quality of each aspect of the sound. Then of course there are other sounds, like reloading.
and this replacement for all weapons in L4D2 too! (and maybe add some more!)
that would DEFINITLY be incredible allright
If you could release an even better pack that has actual model improvements, 6 LODs, premade high-quality MIP-maps, high quality normals and high-quality parallax maps, that would be incredible.
I have a relative good idea for modern or futuristic gun skins, but every time I try it , it works out pretty bad.
Also, it's simple to extract files from .vpk addon files.. people have the choice to simply extract the guns they want or delete the ones they dont want.
Thanks, updating and fixing it.
It's so quiet in here that I can't even hear any sound
