idk if its being issue but protectorate drone has scaling atk based on planet threat level

Thank god for the combat music fix cause majority of the colored enemies are underground. Searching for them just to stop the music gets really annoying. Thank you for this patch!

in this specific case, most of those older death animation resprite mods probably don't have a priority specified in their metadata, which defaults to 0. this is very bad, because, for some reason, Elsen Rykker gave Pandora's Box a priority of 1. that means, no matter where you put it on the workshop load order, it will always load after the majority of those resprite mods.

since you can't patch a metadata file, there's no way for one mod to change the priority of another mod, nor add another mod to that mod's includes section. because of this, the issue circles back around to those old death animation mods needing to update, which is unlikely to happen, since most of those mod developers are gone.

i do understand how this feature can help, don't get me wrong - i have my own collection that i run of approximately 800 mods and climbing, all of which have to work together without crashing or causing any game-breaking issues. i've done so thus far without touching the workshop load order, but i can look into that and see if there's ways to optimize it through there.

but like i said, starbound will prioritize its own load order system over the steam one. if two mods have the same priority, the workshop load order will likely allow you to shift them around, this is true. but if one mod has a priority value over the other, i very much doubt the workshop load order is going to affect them.

Starbound> right click> Properties> Workshop> and boom! All the installed mods are listed and you can sort, filter, disable and even save them to new or existing collections. it's good for when you have multiple smaller mods that edit the same files. Ie I have the "Star Trek Transporter & Warp sound replacements (with some visuals)" loaded before the "Killer 7 teleport sound" so it plays the Killer 7 warp sound over the Star trek warp animation.

@AnomNom also you're right about startbound having its own load order feature HOWEVER if you have a bunch of mods that use 0 or lets say -90000 then steams load order does its magic. I have over 500 mods and the only errors i get are from the mod im currently making., 0 crashes btw and Im using my crappy laptop.

here's a printscreen of the what it looks like.
AnomNom  [author] 26 Dec, 2024 @ 9:43am
actually didn't know that was a feature until now, lmao. yeah, starbound prioritizes it's own load order system over the workshop one, so moving mods around in that isn't going to make much (if any) of a difference. it might affect mods that have the same priority listed in the metadata file? not sure. but, either way, it wouldn't help in this situation. mod authors just need to go back and include pandora's box in their metadata files or increase the priority.
FlakTaryd 26 Dec, 2024 @ 12:41am
Not sure about the workshop load order to be frank. I suppose the priority in the meta files come to play but I'm not certain
AnomNom  [author] 25 Dec, 2024 @ 4:17pm
workshop load order?
Beezy 25 Dec, 2024 @ 2:08pm
@AnomNom & @FlakTaryd Whats worse is even with the useful workshop load order function it still prevents respites from overwriting :/ making a patch too I guess.
FlakTaryd 11 Dec, 2024 @ 10:28am
Can't argue with that. I have my own fix which is taking the manual resprite and delete the spawn animations, which I've done over a year ago. Though the latter solution without uploading to steam would be easier. Least in my case.
AnomNom  [author] 11 Dec, 2024 @ 10:14am
you actually can't edit another mod's metadata file without republishing the mod entirely, which makes it complicated. there's two ways this can be fixed. if the mod author of the resprite mod is still ask them, contact them and have them add the following to their own mod's metadata file:

"includes" : ["Pandoras-Box"]

this will force their resprite mod to load after Pandora's Box, thus solving the issue. Otherwise, the resprite mod would need to be republished or reformatted to use a patch method instead of a direct image replacement, but reposting someone else's work without explicit permission can be problematic.
Bleplep 30 May, 2023 @ 4:40pm
if this is indeed the issue, you might not have to patch Pandora's Box to get your desired result. i've heard that the _metadata file is a way to set a "load order" like you would with Mod Organizer or Vortex. you have to set the "priority" field to an integer to choose the order the mods load. if there is no "priority" field, create one. i haven't done this myself yet and i haven't looked into how PB or Dramatic Deaths work because i have other priorities, but _metadata is where i'd start if this issue came up.
FlakTaryd 10 Feb, 2023 @ 2:57pm
There is something I've noticed with Pandora's Box is the warping, dash, and death animations are replaced with more simplified ones, and whenever I've used the animation replacement mods, they don't work due to Pandora's being a higher priority. Been contemplating about making a mod specifically to remove those animations from Pandora's Box, yet my coding skills is basic at best.

Glitched poptop is a real deal of bugged mob, it sometimes crash my game when leaving it with a pokeball pod.
♫ Tadpole ♫ 25 May, 2022 @ 1:06pm
I guess it's just trial-and-error for me then. I'm not sure if Pandora itself may be incompatible with other mods that change monsters in general - such as Monster Core.
AnomNom  [author] 25 May, 2022 @ 1:02pm
As far as I am aware, it shouldn't be incompatible with anything that Pandora's Box is compatible with.
♫ Tadpole ♫ 25 May, 2022 @ 11:47am
What mods is this incompatible with? I can't seem to be able to use Capture Pods as the game does not respond to my clicks, and my log file reports several string errors of "Error messaging pet system -65536 with pets.podPets: Message not handled by entity" when I attempted to use them.
spirit6-minecrafting 24 Oct, 2021 @ 10:31am
@abyssstarter I know it's been awhile since you posted but base in a box area clearer or console will remove ship locker, sail and teleporter from the ship walls, and drop them, if you have them in the designated area.
Joker 4 Nov, 2020 @ 7:21am
does this fix the raregun.treasure file thing that breaks fracken universe and a world with a chest with the loot because when i had this on with fracken it kicks me from the world when i enter that chunk of the planet or try to terraform the planet
Galactaxy 6 Jul, 2020 @ 5:54pm
also maybe the poptop babies
Galactaxy 6 Jul, 2020 @ 4:01pm
could you try to make a color patch for the smaller mother poptops in FU

it seems werid that they are only black and not other colors they don't really fit in
AbyssStarer 6 Jul, 2020 @ 3:57pm
Yeah I'm talking about Frackin' Universe, I play as a Droden and use base ship.

If the petless sail station only works with BYOS well I'm screwed
AnomNom  [author] 3 Jul, 2020 @ 12:22pm
You talkin' Frackin' Universe? If so, then they're BYOS only as far as I am aware.
AbyssStarer 3 Jul, 2020 @ 8:22am
From my knowing there isn't a way to remove SAIL panels and I'm not fully sure how the petless sail station even works.

Is it like a SAIL panels or is it just some you place down
AnomNom  [author] 11 Jun, 2020 @ 9:30am
Why not just craft a petless sail station? They can be found at the Ship Component Assembler (I think that's the name).
AbyssStarer 11 Jun, 2020 @ 3:41am
Could you make a mod that fixes the way that FU's SAIL panels spawn the pets for non-vanilla races?

I tried to use the pet remover but that just causes a looping problem with the pets.
Solzucht 5 Jun, 2020 @ 10:40pm
they work on a complete remake, so thats probably the reason why they might not fix these things.
MegaMato 4 Jun, 2020 @ 10:52pm
Pandora's Box is a great mod. There are a few things that I wish it didn't overhaul though. I'm going to try removing a few things so it doesn't overlap with other mods that I like. It doesn't conflict but it does override how some things look.
AnomNom  [author] 24 May, 2020 @ 12:12pm
You got it pretty spot on, interestingly the object still exists in the files and is called right, so I wonder why it did it like that.
Smallbuster 24 May, 2020 @ 9:40am
@xRaiizy If my memory servers me right that item was that low damage ray gun so you could capture creatures easier. Don't know why they removed it or why they still left it in the bag as a missing item.
Raiizy 24 May, 2020 @ 3:03am
F to missing item :(
