I haven't tried it yet. But they actually get their upgrades from their equipment.

It's damn hard to get any player's taste in these things. You can make 1000 versions for 1000 players. I don't think I'm going to make another version that is stronger, weaker or right in between the two - but I've been thinking about a kind of mod guide where I upload a raw file with instructions on how to do it yourself. Maybe this will be interesting for you.

@Millow:
Same as the answer for Alex Godric, except that this is the first time I hear that the upgrades are too weak. Felt that one in four said that it was too strong and the mod is not balanced.

No idea what the problem is. Maybe your game has problems with save games or that mods are always reinstalled.

Nice mod, but most of the upgrades are way too weak. a version with double the positive and negative effect would make it better imo. Getting 2 more arrows for the cost of 1 movement speed is barely noticeable

Same question with RobbySin, I prefer this version since although it is a little more OP, it's better and more subtle than the other one. Maybe some small adjustments to decrease the buffs while keeping the penalties would keep this mod better.

NEWS:
I've been working on an improvement of the mod the last days and had a lot of ideas what to add and what to change. Because the changes will be quite big, I plan to release a second version instead of an update (even with a small submod). So this mod will stay as it is for now. All those who want a bit more balancing can then use the next version.

@pjy1772: I haven't gotten around to testing that.

Hey @Lethani . great mod. so i have read your questions that you already answered, but i was wondering if you could make a variant with out the negative aspect (yes not balance) and possibly having two upgrades instead of one? i do think that the upgrades should be more expensive in general i think i would double the price of ithilmar for everything and maybe even add a monetary value(for the original and varient if you make one). do you think you will be making some kind of mod for the empire as well? kind regards

after playing this a while, some upgrades are really op, I think this mod would be much better balanced if these upgrades expired after 10-15 turns or so, we're rolling in ilthimar anyway in midgame with 2-3 generals - after 10-15 turns you can apply new buffs

I am already using xoudad's Sons of Asuryan mod and they also have resource named Ithilmar. Do you think it would cause some problem, if I use the mod with yours?

The snobs are too OP already. I think CA will add a similar mechanic to dwarfs in the next dlc (dwarf vs clan moulder), runes who can buff units, weapons and etc.. so, they are already on the right path. imo, besides the dwarfs, maybe the skaven fits with this concept? Considering their ingenuity with test subjects, maybe these buffs can offer a penalty as well. Like give more leadership for slaves, but diminish their base health, etc.. stuff like that.

@Reanimator: If it is a pure unit mod, the units need their own submod to get upgrades. See the discussion above for instructions on how to do this easily. However, crashes in the game should not occur. I'll have a look at it sometime around the weekend, when I'm also testing "Sons of Asuryan" ;-)

@all those who think that high elves are already overpowered:
There is still a difference of opinion as to who finds what race is the strongest. But as I wrote before, I will continue to refine the upgrades, or add new ones, so that it's more of a shift in values rather than a real improvement. Then there should be no more worries about it.

@frederic181049: Unfortunately I didn't get the chance to test it myself and from the messages here came contradictory statements if both mods work together. After tomorrow I will find some more time for mods again and try it out.

@Sky Sweeper: Yes, if I make a mod like this again, it will be for the dwarves, unless someone else was faster. :)

@Kor-Gar: I am sure that there is a good solution to get the balance right. I just have to think a little bit about the fact that in the end, with all kinds of buffs, there won't be too strong synergies.

There are already quite a few people working on implementing the scrap mechanic to other races.

I'am currently working on a Beastmen overhaul, which includes scrap. After that the dawi are next on my list. I believe Lethani also intended on doing the dawi next, after he's properly satisfied with this project.

There are probably quite a few people currently working, or planning on working on the dwarfen scrap mechanic.

Have some patience and we'll provide.

in itself 30% range is no biggy, and in end ppl play campagne cous they want to be OP...
the thing with HEs tho is, they get too many ranged boosts
30% from lord trait 30% from this mod 7% from fighting wood elves, the red line buffs ( dunnu the numbers on that ) combined with a lot of reload buffs it gets ridiculous :D
maybe just change the archer range boost to some defensive or utility boni

@Mafnmarsn Checkerboard doomstack with archers and corner camping murders almost everyone. Only difficult HE starts are Teclis and Imrik and even then they are pretty chill if you don't do anything stupid. Lizards are the most powerful race only if you play not on very hard battle difficulty because saurus are not so good on legendary and you need to wait for the dino stack to start rolling. HE have 4 very good starts(on Ulthuan) and lizards have only 3(Kroak start, TIktakto bombs and Kroq Gar Saurus spam, other 3 are much less OP). Also HE steamroll everything after acquiring sister building on tier 4 and they can confederate all Ulthuan very fast. Lizards need to fight for every province by force. They are not even on the same powerlvl and their late game potential is weaker.

TL:DR: HE are the most OP race, nerf the upgrades at least by half to make for interesting playthrough.

I see where there are still a few problems. I thought before, similar to Mafnmarsn, that a bit more range does not matter much if the range damage is reduced. But as I mentioned before, there will be an expansion of the upgrades soon. I'll add some new stuff and tweak the old ones a bit.

@Mafnmarsn I have to disagree with you. 30% range is a huge thing for archers, especially if the base of this 30% is already almost 200. You are making each archer fire like the ushabiiti great bows. That is very OP! basically this makes it way too easy to fight a battle, most of the units would just die half way. Especially in the early games where units have not much armour. High Elve may not be the strongest faction if you are talking about only one doomstack, but it is defintely the strongest faction if you combine every aspect. If each of the amry can easily reach more than 70% physical resistance, that is the definition of OP! That is the reason why I did not do a mod for high elves, because their units (plus the tech, lord skills and items) are way too strong, they need no upgrades at all.

@V how does a bit more range make them that op? i mean yeah, on sisters thats quite strong, but a stack of sister will shoot anything to pieces anyway until they are out of ammo. HEs are not the strongest faction in the game. Unless you abuse the lord/hero abilities for endless money. a dragon stack is too expensive and sisters are too vulnerable to artillery/can't win without ammo. They are very, very strong but their garrisons are just sooo bad that you need way more armies than other factions like lizards (which are the strongest imo).

The mod is highly unbalanced and stupidly overpowered. +30% of range for archers for the faction that already has the best archers in the game, sry but this is bullshit. This is clearly not tested and need a lot of work. +10% range for 10% missile dmg will still be VERY good. Don't forget that HE is already the most powerful faction in the game without any upgrades and you need to be very cautious to not make already OP faction even stronger.
