I'll try to make things more clear, but generally, this formation is suppose to be fluid and unpredictable to the opposition, which is why I don't have player instructions for roles, but instead have it set for individual players themselves. Your players will be different than mine, hence why I didn't put too many player instructions in there. The roles are more important anyways, although I do use player instructions for maximizing a player's strengths and minimizing his weaknesses.
Gh0st_Note-  [author] 2 May, 2014 @ 5:51pm
Nick: My thinking is just fine, thank you very much. "Hug Touchline" is something you can teach the players to do as a "move". It isn't a player instruction obviously, although if you wanted something similar you could instruct them to "Run Wide With Ball" which isn't exact, but is still similar. And yes, "Get Further Forward" is obviously what I meant.

My whole point though, is that there is no one formation that will work. And different players have different attributes. This tactic is a baseline, but you still need to tailor the instructions on a player by player basis, as different players have different styles.

nick1408 2 May, 2014 @ 5:15pm
I like the idea here but all you have really given us is a formation. I understand you tailor player instructions to specific players but could you open up your thinking a bit more? 'Hug Touchline' is not a PI anyway so how can I give it to the wingers? Same goes with 'Bomb Forward' which I assume is 'Get Further Forward'.

You even go on to say the assigned roles are not concrete. Fair enough but if I am choosing between a DLP, treq, F9 etc it does leave a fair range of possible combinations and thus playing styles.

I really want to play with a TM and this seems like a perfect formation for me (3 at the back, TM) but some guidence on the PI's and a little more concrete info would be helpful.

how do i download this

Burgundy: It does when your team builds up naturally and starts pushing up. Even with "drop deeper" you can still be hit on the counter, so "Uses Offside Trap" is an extra defensive weapon to nullify the opposition. If you were using "Much deeper", then yeah, you wouldn't want offside trap.
Adam 1 May, 2014 @ 10:47am
'Drop Deeper' and 'Uses Offside Trap.' Surely those two can't work in tandem?
zReb0rn 30 Apr, 2014 @ 9:09pm
what?

@ Shem Smith 5-2-1-2 DM + CWB Is good with grimsby . then get your self a good TM

yeah i added the team ones will give it a go
Gh0st_Note-  [author] 29 Apr, 2014 @ 12:03am
Nedloh: I don't know why they aren't included, but I have the team instructions listed here. Player instructions I do by player instead of position which is why they don't show up except for the wingers.
Boring Ned 28 Apr, 2014 @ 11:49pm
just downloaded it and it has no team or player instructions is this right??
Gh0st_Note-  [author] 28 Apr, 2014 @ 7:10pm
Wayne: Awesome. You speaking of Manolo Gabbiadini? I signed him as well in my third season as Juve.

Shem, if you're using this tactic with a smaller club, focus on pacey players on the wings. Get players with decent all around stats for the midfield if possible, and for the DMC, since Regista's are impossible to find with lower level teams, use a DM or Ball-Winning Midfielder. Up top, get a target man with high strength, heading, finishing, and teamwork if possible, and for his strike partner, use a faster player with some decent passing, creativty, pace, and finishing if possible. I actually do have a tactic I am developing for smaller clubs that is a 4-1-2-3 that I plan on uploading later. I've had really good success with it, so maybe you could check that one out.
Gh0st_Note-  [author] 27 Apr, 2014 @ 12:18pm
Tsunami: It is actually the same 3-5-2 formation, except it is counter mentality, direct passing, high tempo, overlap, and the rest of the settings are similar to this one. It's pretty fun too, as Pirlo will lob long balls to the players ahead of him on the break. I ended up rarely ever using it though, and stuck with the formation you see here. I've actually made some tweaks to this formation since I uploaded this, and I seem to be doing even better. I might upload my new version of the 3-5-2 soon for people to try out.
Kilde86 27 Apr, 2014 @ 8:09am
I can see that you are using a Juve counter tactic as well.. What are your instructions from that one and how does your formation look like on that tactic?
Nffcgem91 27 Apr, 2014 @ 7:29am
does anyone have any tips for grimsby town?
wayne13berry 27 Apr, 2014 @ 5:49am
juve have an amazing striker giaddiani or something like that. i cashed in on quagi first season and brought him in fully he got me 22 goals in his first season
Gh0st_Note-  [author] 27 Apr, 2014 @ 4:13am
Wayne: In my second season the board gave me a huge transfer budget. I also made some smart free transfers and dual ownership deals. I got Berardi for 8M in my second season, Honda on a free, Verratti for 26M, Montoya for 14M, Danilo for 18M, Alex Sandro for 30M. I sold a lot of Juve's excess players from their reserves on top of the 80M transfer budget to compete in the Champions League which I ended up winning in my second season. Pirlo had the most assists in the competition using this formation, hah. I actually have Mitrovic now, to replace Llorente when he gets older.
wayne13berry 27 Apr, 2014 @ 3:39am
great formation for strong players, hence why it works for juve....as im a juve fan how on earth did you manage to get all them players in, juve only start with 8m. and to get bernari in as fully your player is between 12-16m allown
Gh0st_Note-  [author] 26 Apr, 2014 @ 3:08pm
Regal: Yeah, this formation, at least how it works for me, is kind of unorthodox in the types of players it requires. It isn't for everyone, I admit. But if you get the right roles and players, it's unstoppable, at least was for me. Yeah the DM is the most important part, especially if he has skill like Pirlo, high creativty and passing, etc. But the wingers have to be a certain way too, for the formation to work. They need to be able to tackle, cross, dribble, be fast, and have high stamina as well as mental attributes. They are basically wingbacks, that are pushed up slightly higher, but act like box-to-box midfielders, in that they drop back on defense, and push forward on attack. They need to be this way so that they can provide defensive cover, but also be effective on the attack. If they are lacking one or the other, you lose a valuable part of the formation. Sign guys like Asamoah Gyan, Danilo, Lichsteiner, etc.
Regalinho 26 Apr, 2014 @ 1:44pm
But i thought a good DM is what is needed, well even at that One of my wingers i think the MR is pretty decent not world class but has the stats you pointed out [A Ramires kind of player]... meaning I've got to get another one at ML [hope that works]
Gh0st_Note-  [author] 26 Apr, 2014 @ 1:17pm
Dragos: You can certainly do that, but the reason I don't, is that sometimes players will track back too far, preventing counterattacks from happening. It's useful at times, don't get me wrong, but I feel like it is better to keep pressure on the opposition by proximity rather than by tight marking.

Ryan: Just hit the subscribe button, should load up within the game.

[PA]: I admit I haven't tried it with smaller teams, although I did use a similar 3-5-2 with Munster and took them from the third division to the German first division.

Regalinho: How are your defensive wingers? Make sure they have high crossing, stamina, tackling, and dribbling. Very important.

Rdebenezer: While it is fun to use the AMC, instead of the Regista, this system was intentionally built around Pirlo and other such players. I didn't see many formations that utilize Registas in the workshop so I wanted to try something different. All that matters is you have fun though. :)
adam.priest1985 26 Apr, 2014 @ 12:48pm
what are the general tactics? Fluid and ball control?
rdebenezer 26 Apr, 2014 @ 9:41am
easiest way too add goals in this system is swap the dmc for an amc, (ss is my fave role) get someone hard working and he'll be your most important player
Regalinho 26 Apr, 2014 @ 9:02am
This Formation Is Useless, I'm sorry i read all the comments saw the ratings but all that Hype is rubbish. yeah sure the formation exels defensively [other's say it's weak in defense] but offensively I'm drawing Blanks and I'm not in a shitty team either 2022 inter Milan i have a pretty insane DM/MC and two pretty amazing strikers [you know how good FM makes it's generated player] but still unable to get a win in like 7 games straight [all draws] and ended up finishing in 5th spot. Followed the author's instructions to the latter even tried changing things a few things to spice it up. Well if this formation works for you you're pretty lucky cause it is useless for me, Kudos to the Author for trying though... hmm gotta find another one now
Ban..kai!!! 26 Apr, 2014 @ 6:59am
GODLIKE,nice tactic you have there, but i have a question. Why did you don't put Use Tighter Marking instruction?
Ryan 26 Apr, 2014 @ 6:13am
How do you download this Tactic?
khalid.balghonaim 26 Apr, 2014 @ 5:45am
4-2-3-1 Milan's Seadorf. I'm first in Serie A and won all 6 games in CL group stage :)
r_j_t_hough 26 Apr, 2014 @ 5:17am
How can you download this?
snoil33rht 26 Apr, 2014 @ 5:13am
hmm, i played with this, its ok, but with a decent aston villa team with the bender brothers IMO 2 very decent MF's/DM, i played 8 game's and find it leaky, and ok i score goal's, but it is far from perfect, and have played this for 19 game's, i mean no offense to these comment's but i say this isnt very good for sides that are smaller, which is a damn shame IMO..
Gh0st_Note-  [author] 25 Apr, 2014 @ 6:26pm
I don't know why it isn't showing up, but I at least have the majority of it listed here. And as I've told others, to truly be sucessful in Football Manager is the ability to adapt your roles and tactics on the fly. This is a baseline. Your striker roles do need the fluctuate depending on who you are playing against and so forth. I'll try to add the general instructions though. As for individual instructions, I do them by player, not role, which is probably why they aren't showing up. You should have some for the DW's though.
jjavalon 25 Apr, 2014 @ 12:30pm
I will test the tactic, but it doesn't include general and individual instructions, nor setting for corners and so on. Could you update it please?

Okay, will try that thanks :-)
Gh0st_Note-  [author] 16 Mar, 2014 @ 5:19pm
Oh, another thing, you may need to watch some matches to see how things are going. just because a striker isn't scoring goals doesn't mean he's useless. If you notice he keeps winning headers and holding the ball up well, that's very useful whether he's scoring goals or not as it gets other players involved.
Gh0st_Note-  [author] 16 Mar, 2014 @ 5:17pm
Try giving your squad more time to get use to the tactic. I actually don't use player instructions for the strikers and change their roles accordingly instead. It takes for them to get use to it, and also be sure to rotate your strikers so that they stay hungry for more goals and don't get complacent. If a player is doing really well, keep him obviously, but if he's not let someone else play instead. Should help. Every striker I ever use in this formation scores tons of goals, even my backups put in a few goals and assists. So you might just need more time.
ACI 16 Mar, 2014 @ 5:03pm
Ah okay thanks ;-)
Can you upload pictures off your player instructions?

It works well, but my strikers doesn't want to score :(
