It's pretty obvious. It has a hazard warning instead of the standard diamond, and has "death sentence" as the description.

I love these extra missions, but I think I found a bug in the mission.

I'm playing Normal difficulty and engaged the battleship at -288:79, so Naonite territory.

Within 10 seconds, it fired a large orangy laser that filled my screen and removed my ship from existence. 90k hull and 114k shields on a 8,8 subsystem ship, just gone.

Is this to be expected on normal or?

Yeah it's impossible to balance these to people's liking. If I nerf, people say it's too easy, if I don't nerf, people say it's too hard.

I just nerfed the ones outside the barrier, so any of the prototypes inside the barrier should be just as strong as before.

I have updated how the superweapon scripts interact with the avenger script. I will probably not be making any further nerfs.

I will once again point out that it will only have the laser superweapon script on "Death Sentence", and only 33% of the time. If you don't want to encounter it, don't do it on Death Sentence. I posted a thread that explains exactly what the boss does on which difficulty levels.

I see the issue. The problem is, once again, the Avenger Script. It starts out doing a decent amount of damage but can quickly exceed 10 million as you kill the ship's allies. I will make some adjustments to how the avenger script / laser sniper script interact, but I will say that I did not intend for this mission to be doable on the "Death Sentence" difficulty with a ship that only has 250k HP.

Nah it shouldn't be doing anywhere near that.

Get Sector Weapon DPS ranges roughly from 1 to 230. It's the base weapon damage for a turret.

TimeToActive @ 300 would make it so that the laser only starts firing after 5 minutes. I realize it's impossible to balance everything to everyone's satisfaction but I think that is a little too generous.

if i understand code correctly _DamagePerFrame = Balancing_GetSectorWeaponDPS(_X, _Y) * 500 -> 71k*500 = 35,5M dmg per frame. M'i correct? in that case xotan guardian would pop up almost instant so my 250K ship had no chance

In Death sentence it seems to snow ball in to insane numbers even on very low tech.


how about _TimeToActive = 300 to make time for evade manover

and maybe instead of GetSectorWeaponDPS use something much less random like tech lvl * 100?

I've nerfed the beam three times now. It really shouldn't be instakill. What shields / hull are you going in with?

Regardless, it will never have it outside of "Death Sentence" difficulty, so you can just avoid the mission @ that difficulty level if you are worried about it.

insta-kill beam is a sick joke i had to fight BS tech lvl 5 that had 71K omni + instakill that is almost imposible to win in ~30 tech ships my AI fleet die one by one cos they didn't even try to evade

Did you try mousing over the turrets to see why they were blocked? I have no idea why you would encounter that issue and it is not one that I found while testing the mod myself. Are you running any other mods?

ok it spawned after all. Only thing that seemed strange: I couldnt pick up the turrets it dropped. They were blocked, like if a player loses turrets

It is extremely rare. I think it took me 20-30 tries before I found one. I might update this to make it more common and a bit more resilient towards bugs interfering with the triggers.

how rare is this mission? It seems like it doesnt spawn for me. I even made a Test-Sector with three of each Station-type and restarted the server multiple times.

Thank you for your insight, it seems to be indeed that mod which causes the issue. I'll contact the author and see if there's a fix.

So I suspect what happened is that the "Pirates Drop More Turrets" mod attempted to mess with the loot value of the prototype. This would cause an error which would both prevent it from being equipped with turrets, and B, prevent the trigger that causes the mission to succeed when you destroy it from being added. Until I'm able to look into this, I would suggest not using these two mods together.

That said, if it is causing other pirate ships to spawn without turrets, the problem may not be on my end and it's possible that there's nothing I can do about this.

More Starting Ressources, 8x Turrets with reduced energy drain, Weapon Engineering, Pirates Drop More Turrets and more minor mods. I haven't managed to find which one is responsible for the no turrets issue.
