- The Allied Barracks now has their Allied blue flag;
- All secondary campaign factions (Germany, Turkey, England, France and Ukraine) are now a markedly lighter shade of their main faction colour; except for Spain, so the faction colour in the ant missions is kept the same;
- Not a change, but included as additional files are variants of the Soviet Forward Command Post: two variants with natural coloured hammers and sickles, one gold and one red. You can manually change this in: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\1213210\2134802445\JRARFCSSV\DATA\ART\TEXTURES\SRGB\RED_ALERT\STRUCTURES.
Note: you may need to unsubscribe and then subscribe again to force Steam to download the update.
I'm currently working on an update, in which I will include several FCOM variants as additional files (but I will leave the current one as the base version, because I think it looks nicer).
In the meantime, just check out how I structured BARR.ZIP and exactly where I put it.
I made a FCOM with not remaped hammer and sickle but game refuse it to load it.
No idea is it tga format, wrong path or zip. As for art, this I can share if you need
As for Funpark, I can see what are you up to :)
I am 99% sure its Multi6
Thanks for the info, by the way, really useful :)
Do you also happen to know what colour is used in the Funpark missions?
If you were just playing with my mod and noticed the Soviet Barracks convulsing, expanding and contracting like a heart, it was caused by the Barracks tga file names now being in lowercase rather than uppercase. So, before the update, they were BARR-0000 through 0019.TGA in the base game, and now they are barr-0000 through 0019.tga, and if you don't update this in your mod, it causes the Barracks to convulse. That's a rather odd thing to cause a glitch, and a rather odd glitch as well.
Rest assured, I'll be uploading the fix with Barracks filenames properly and orderly in lowercase.
"... Nod has different "areas" within the code for the buildings and units, defined as something like "BadUnits" and "BadBuildings". For GDI, you only have "Good". Same goes for RA, where for the campaign you have to edit "Greece" and "Good" for the Allies and "USSR" and "Bad" for the Soviets. As they all lack seperate "areas" for units and buildings, I just assumed it's impossible to seperately assign colours for units and buildings, except for Nod. Or at least, it'd likely be outside my abilities."
I'm not entirely sure how compatible they are, but logically, so long as the DLL mods don't contain those files themselves, they should work together.
(confirmation is still welcome, though :) )
I may make more faction colour mods. I'm editing a single (not counting the Barracks file here) file here, though, so I have to decide on colours to use for both factions at once. That limits my options a bit, because I can't make mods for every combination of colour variants, if you catch my drift.
By the way, this mod doesn't show up in my mod list in Red Alert. Could someone please tell me whether the mod is or isn't functional?
I wonder how it would look if the Allies weren't pure grey, but instead had the slightly bluish grey that Nod units use in original C&C Tiberian Dawn? It would mean they'd still somewhat have their original blue theme, but it would be far less garish.
(Of course that wouldn't be like Sudden Strike anymore, so I guess that would need to be a separate "realistic faction colours" mod that wasn't the Sudden Strike version, heh.)
Along the same lines, I think it would look great if Soviet structures red parts (other than just the barracks flag), similar to Nod buildings.
I really liked how in original C&C Nod had urban camo for their troops and vehicles but red paint on their buildings. It makes sense for the factions to have the colours of their flags on their buildings, while having their troops and tanks in camouflage colours.
Thanks :)
Simply put, the uploading tool is a pain in the ass.
