My latest update changes the following:
- The Allied Barracks now has their Allied blue flag;
- All secondary campaign factions (Germany, Turkey, England, France and Ukraine) are now a markedly lighter shade of their main faction colour; except for Spain, so the faction colour in the ant missions is kept the same;
- Not a change, but included as additional files are variants of the Soviet Forward Command Post: two variants with natural coloured hammers and sickles, one gold and one red. You can manually change this in: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\1213210\2134802445\JRARFCSSV\DATA\ART\TEXTURES\SRGB\RED_ALERT\STRUCTURES.

Note: you may need to unsubscribe and then subscribe again to force Steam to download the update.

I've done my own version as well. I don't think it looks very nice in combination with my mods, though.

I'm currently working on an update, in which I will include several FCOM variants as additional files (but I will leave the current one as the base version, because I think it looks nicer).

In the meantime, just check out how I structured BARR.ZIP and exactly where I put it.

Hi again. Can you also give a hint on how to add my custom tga into a game.
I made a FCOM with not remaped hammer and sickle but game refuse it to load it.
No idea is it tga format, wrong path or zip. As for art, this I can share if you need

If you imagined your gray soldiers to be German, then I have now released a fitting voice pack: Einigkeit und Recht und Freiheit , unit voices from the German version of Red Alert.
Highlander 26 Jun, 2020 @ 5:42am
Thanks for a guide!

As for Funpark, I can see what are you up to :)
I am 99% sure its Multi6
Jozef  [author] 26 Jun, 2020 @ 3:25am
Not meant specifically at you, Highlander, I'll still look at it :p
Thanks for the info, by the way, really useful :)
Do you also happen to know what colour is used in the Funpark missions?
Jozef  [author] 26 Jun, 2020 @ 3:24am
I've made a guide to colour modding , now you can just do it yourself ;p
Highlander 26 Jun, 2020 @ 12:33am
Nice. Thank you! I belive making Soviet affiliated counties, Ukraine and Turkey (Orange, Coral) with other shades of green from your other mods could work well. However Allied might requre some rethinking as for example German(Tan) house could be Allied or Soviet, so it nice to have a neutral one like dark-grey maybe. I doubt I have seen Spain (Sand) anywere else than ant missions, so it could be any cool millitary colour you want. France (Teal) is rarely seen but its used as kinda hi-tech Allied. And England (Salad) are usually Allied convoy trucks and local militia. Hope it helps somehow
Jozef  [author] 25 Jun, 2020 @ 10:47am
I never noticed that as a problem, but yeah, you're probably right. I'll see what I come up with in the next couple of days.
Highlander 25 Jun, 2020 @ 10:29am
Hello Jozef. I like your Colours mods. Sudden strike is my favoried so far. However, could you please improve them all with editing other colours than Allied and Soviet. In some missions there are some NPC sides and their colours may be very confusing. For example there is a salad-green Allied in some missions wich looks very similar to new soviet. There is also a tan Allied in some missions as well so you can't really wich Allied house you are fighting with out radar. There might be alot more cases like this. Again thank you for your mods!
Jozef  [author] 25 Jun, 2020 @ 7:41am
Everyone who wanted green Allies, I've just released my third faction colour mod, Allied Europe !
kostaskladianos 24 Jun, 2020 @ 4:26am
A sagestion....Can you make the silk and hammer to the soviet command center to be red, its nice i thaught, or the allied flag to the allied infantry tent to be the lore blue with a golden eagle? Will be amazing?
BlackHand 23 Jun, 2020 @ 3:07pm
Yet so simple but really nice mods Jozef. Keep'em coming!
Repulse 23 Jun, 2020 @ 2:56pm
But I understand if you're busy
Repulse 23 Jun, 2020 @ 2:54pm
Something not gray for the allies would be nice :)
Jozef  [author] 23 Jun, 2020 @ 1:12pm
I don't have any mods planned in the foreseeable future. I am (or at least should be) quite busy at the moment. I do want to eventually add a different (not gray) Allied colour.
Repulse 23 Jun, 2020 @ 11:18am
Could you make a mod that makes the allies colour faded green or olive drab while the soviets would be tan?
cat.sitter 22 Jun, 2020 @ 5:40pm
Is it possible to make a mod that saves your last chosen colour? It drives me nuts having to reselect my colour every time I start a new skirmish game.
cat.sitter 22 Jun, 2020 @ 5:40pm
I think another cool idea would be a tan colour, based on the tanks used in a desert environment e.g. middle east.
cat.sitter 22 Jun, 2020 @ 5:37pm
This is brilliant. I always wanted more realistic military colours in this game. Thanks!
Jozef  [author] 22 Jun, 2020 @ 1:52pm
Here's a fun glitch for you:

If you were just playing with my mod and noticed the Soviet Barracks convulsing, expanding and contracting like a heart, it was caused by the Barracks tga file names now being in lowercase rather than uppercase. So, before the update, they were BARR-0000 through 0019.TGA in the base game, and now they are barr-0000 through 0019.tga, and if you don't update this in your mod, it causes the Barracks to convulse. That's a rather odd thing to cause a glitch, and a rather odd glitch as well.

Rest assured, I'll be uploading the fix with Barracks filenames properly and orderly in lowercase.
HavocSpecialist38 22 Jun, 2020 @ 3:11am
Love your mods Jozef. They so much character and flavour to an otherwise bland 1990s video game.
Jozef  [author] 21 Jun, 2020 @ 8:40am
Nope, sorry:

"... Nod has different "areas" within the code for the buildings and units, defined as something like "BadUnits" and "BadBuildings". For GDI, you only have "Good". Same goes for RA, where for the campaign you have to edit "Greece" and "Good" for the Allies and "USSR" and "Bad" for the Soviets. As they all lack seperate "areas" for units and buildings, I just assumed it's impossible to seperately assign colours for units and buildings, except for Nod. Or at least, it'd likely be outside my abilities."
Procyon 21 Jun, 2020 @ 8:36am
Can you make a realistic color changing mod (as well as your other version) exclusive to vehicles and infantry? I like how your colors work with infantry and vehicles, but not on structures. Like how it works with Nod, but it's possible?
Jozef  [author] 21 Jun, 2020 @ 2:25am
I've just added these faction colours to skirmish.
Trace Projectile 20 Jun, 2020 @ 9:05am
I saw the other mod, but commenting here to say cool idea you have. I like that this one preserves the USSR barracks flag, it's a nice detail.
kostaskladianos 19 Jun, 2020 @ 6:11pm
Please add them to skirmish.
Jozef  [author] 19 Jun, 2020 @ 2:37pm
It's not. It contains an XML file and some TGA files.

I'm not entirely sure how compatible they are, but logically, so long as the DLL mods don't contain those files themselves, they should work together.
Jaeger 19 Jun, 2020 @ 2:31pm
Is this a DLL mod? Compatibility with a patch like CFE would be ultimate. Thanks for making this, it's the kind of stuff we need to see in RA!
Jozef  [author] 19 Jun, 2020 @ 12:15pm
I've made a new mod based on the colours of Soviet and East German uniforms, check it out :)
kostaskladianos 19 Jun, 2020 @ 8:44am
Also the allies grey is like the early years of post worls war 2 german army in east and west.
kostaskladianos 19 Jun, 2020 @ 8:40am
Gongratulations for the mod, the soviet flag remains red in the infantry silos, and the green is a touch of realism like the real cold war units.
Zellari 19 Jun, 2020 @ 7:24am
Yep. I have issues at first, but now then you fix it. It work just fine. By the way, your mod reminded me of game Running with Rifles. Where Soviets was called Brownpants, Germans - Greycollars and Americans - Greenbelts. I think they intentionally give Soviet faction orange-brownish uniforms to reflect their initial red color. Or… because the default color of the most soviet uniform of the era was brownish. No matter… your mod still great. Thx!
your evil twin 19 Jun, 2020 @ 7:14am
Yes the mod works fine! :) And I just read your reply on reddit.
Jozef  [author] 19 Jun, 2020 @ 7:04am
Never mind, it should work now.

(confirmation is still welcome, though :) )
Jozef  [author] 19 Jun, 2020 @ 6:24am
Yeah, I wrote you a reply on Reddit, too :)

I may make more faction colour mods. I'm editing a single (not counting the Barracks file here) file here, though, so I have to decide on colours to use for both factions at once. That limits my options a bit, because I can't make mods for every combination of colour variants, if you catch my drift.

By the way, this mod doesn't show up in my mod list in Red Alert. Could someone please tell me whether the mod is or isn't functional?
your evil twin 19 Jun, 2020 @ 6:14am
Ah, just commented on your reddit post. I love this mod!

I wonder how it would look if the Allies weren't pure grey, but instead had the slightly bluish grey that Nod units use in original C&C Tiberian Dawn? It would mean they'd still somewhat have their original blue theme, but it would be far less garish.

(Of course that wouldn't be like Sudden Strike anymore, so I guess that would need to be a separate "realistic faction colours" mod that wasn't the Sudden Strike version, heh.)

Along the same lines, I think it would look great if Soviet structures red parts (other than just the barracks flag), similar to Nod buildings.

I really liked how in original C&C Nod had urban camo for their troops and vehicles but red paint on their buildings. It makes sense for the factions to have the colours of their flags on their buildings, while having their troops and tanks in camouflage colours.
Jozef  [author] 19 Jun, 2020 @ 5:50am
At least it worked out in the end. But yeah, having to use my laptop still isn't an ideal solution.

Thanks :)
Zellari 19 Jun, 2020 @ 5:34am
Thx Jozef! I feel sorry for you man. But you did a great job! Thank you!
Jozef  [author] 19 Jun, 2020 @ 5:05am
This was made with much pain and effort to get the effing thing to upload. If you're curious, essentially my main computer lost the C&C Workshop tool lottery, meaning it won't work there. My crappy old laptop did win this apparent lottery, so I had to use that.

Simply put, the uploading tool is a pain in the ass.
