I think I found the culprit. I extract the file using gcfscape out of curiosity and found that this ar-15 sound path is sound/weapons/rifle/rifle_fire_1.wav when it should of been sound/weapons/rifle/gunfire/rifle_fire_1.wav (the gunfire folder was missing and
every other weapon mod I look into has that sort of path.
Not sure if that does anything, mind if you check?

Well, I use Zkeierea only for reference (in case I'm actually tone deaf). Yeah, not sure why it doesn't work for me. Thanks though, for porting over the sounds.

I think he used mine and fixed it up for the weapon. Sorry that it does not work for you, but i wish i knew how to fix that problem.

So I unsubscribe, and delete any traces of the file, restart computer, resubscribe, start game, wait for it to load, check that it is enable, go into a map, use the M16, and it's still the default sound and not the AR-15.

However, I tried Zkeierea's AR-15 skin/sound and it work, the distinctive sounds like the one from your video. Can't seem to have your mod work. hmm.

My AR-15 sound from the Workshop does work for me! I'm using the Mossberg's VPK (Not from the Workshop) though. I'm gonna try using the Workshop version of it. And i don't use that command myself :S Try resetting Steam?

EDIT: I actually had the VPK's for both, i'm gonna try using the Workshop versions now.

I can't get this sound to work for the default M16. I try in console snd_rebuildaudiocache; snd_updateaudiocache; exit
Your other pump shotgun sound didnt work initially too until I use that command, but that one work and this doesn't. Either that or I'm tone deaf :x.

no problem. basically the default one fills the exact length with empty mute sound. So the new sound just needs to be under the length and fade out to smooth so it works. Its harder to do with smgs so keep that in mind.

what you do is get the original valve sound and put it in audacity. Mute that sound and put your new sound in. And select the new sound and fade out so it transitions out smoothly. Then export it and save it.

Too short? If i make it too long will it just ignore it? It's happened to everyone's Tank songs, they just put the whole song in there and when the normal Tank song ends, it makes it loop.

Sorry I just responded to this. I was working on mods while logged into another account. The problme you have is your sound is too short. So valve fills in the empty space with any random noise to accomodate it.
