But then, neither von Esling's jacket nor the shoulder marks match the rank of general of the NVA (https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/5/55/Bundesarchiv_Bild_183-1988-0704-410%2C_Heinz_Ke%C3%9Fler.jpg) .
I shouldn't have said 'or whatever', as I know the RL reason. Still, they could've removed the GDR shoulder patch :p
It seems like running four mods at the same time causes crashes, regardless of which four mods.
Once I've installed the game on my laptop, I can download my mods from the Workshop on it to see if the files I've uploaded here somehow aren't functioning, but I doubt it.
It is, however, sadly true that the faction colour mods have stopped functioning in combination with the voice mods, resulting in the game simply using the default voices (though the colour mods sgo). I've looked into it before, and I couldn't find any reason for this to be the case. The mods do entirely different things, and they shouldn't be able to conflict with eachother at all, but for whatever reason they out of nowhere did start conflicting. I'll have a look at it again when I've installed the game on my new laptop, but I'm afraid this is a problem that has been caused by the game devs changing something, which would mean there's little I can do about it.
Thanks a lot for the compliment, though :)
You experience mirrors mine, I always disliked the blue and red and wished the Allies were desert tan like GDI back then. I always picked green in skirmish and multiplayer because I didn't like the bright colors.
And honestly, these mods are a wish fulfillment of ten-year-old me. Playing RA, I always wanted to play in a more interesting colour scheme. Then, I mainly wanted the Allies to use GDI gold, because I thought that looked gorgeous. It's definitely much nicer playing with these colours :)
Both Factions have a believable colour scheme. I can no longer play Red Alert without this mod active. The bright blue/red on the map is so off putting now.
Only thing i may have to "criticize":
The colours for the factions are reversed.
If you look at the CGI cutscenes and some of the FMV's, most Allied units use a light or dark brown tone for their units such as infantry, Jeeps, light- and medium tanks.
Meanwhile, most Soviet armour is in a metallic-grey colour.
Idk, something i'd like to point out as a food for thought for your next colour mod, maybe.
;)
- The Allied Barracks now has their Allied blue flag;
- All secondary campaign factions (Germany, Turkey, England, France and Ukraine) are now a markedly lighter shade of their main faction colour; except for Spain, so the faction colour in the ant missions is kept the same;
- Not a change, but included as additional files are variants of the Soviet Forward Command Post: two variants with natural coloured hammers and sickles, one gold and one red. You can manually change this in: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\1213210\2135294286\JRARFCUV\DATA\ART\TEXTURES\SRGB\RED_ALERT\STRUCTURES.
Note: you may need to unsubscribe and then subscribe again to force Steam to download the update.
I mean it is Westwood, they probably just got together whatever uniforms that was necessary for filming rather than be "super 100% accurate for realz!" (Plus, it IS a wacky alternative timeline, in universe, after all...)
If you were just playing with my mod and noticed the Soviet Barracks convulsing, expanding and contracting like a heart, it was caused by the Barracks tga file names now being in lowercase rather than uppercase. So, before the update, they were BARR-0000 through 0019.TGA in the base game, and now they are barr-0000 through 0019.tga, and if you don't update this in your mod, it causes the Barracks to convulse. That's a rather odd thing to cause a glitch, and a rather odd glitch as well.
Rest assured, I'll be uploading the fix with Barracks filenames properly and orderly in lowercase.
Instead of just German voices, it also gives the Allies French and Spanish ones. I'm also working on a Russian voice mod, which I'm counting on will be compatible with this European one. However, that requires more work because there aren't any Russian voices for RA (I think, at least), so that may take a while.
