If you manage to make a city with very well working public transport you can put car parks at transport hubs outside the city and much tourists & citizens will use them. Which is nice because real cities try to implement this as well.
About a 100 years ago when the street I live in was built it kind of looked like this one without the parking. I treasure the photographs of how it looked back then. Now the tram is gone, and cars are parked everywhere.

If you could squeeze in one more lane on each side for parking, it would be absolutely perfect and what I've been looking for ages for.
