Is this something anyone else has experienced? It's a great asset, I'm dying to use it but unfortunately as things are now I can't.
I noticed that when “upgrading” from the vanilla tree-lined 2L road, sad faces kept popping up; hence, does this still carry the happiness & health benefit of tree-lined roads?
@Kram thanks for trying this out, I'm glad you can use. Out of curiousity, does the "switch lane" (the red and green bike lane switching from one side to the other where there is asymmetry ahead) appear even without Mass Transit?
@mat_public thanks, I'm glad you like it. Yes, if given the chance (and if the "encourage cycling" policy is on), a good portion of cims will prefer cycling to their destination if the cycle network is well built and the bike trip is more advantageous than a car trip, it definitely helps keep traffic down. Like in real life to be honest!
Works best connected to other roads with dedicated bike lanes and dedicated bike ways. Like humans, cims prefer separated bike lanes.
@Zouba54 just messaged you
@Zouba64 thanks for your suggestion, I'm not sure what you mean by giving the same benefits? I'd be happy to help!
I'm not sure what would happen if you use the road without Mass Transit (I always have all the DLC's on) but my guess is that the road won't either load at all or you won't be able to switch lane by right clicking on it (or other weird behaviors). I hope this helps 😉
I just got this error:
Some skins could not be restored because the used assets are missing!
Be aware that if you save the city, the missing assets will no longer be present in the skin data so there is no way to restore those skins
List of missing assets:
2137774590.Road Protected Bike Parking 3_Data
2137774590.Road Protected Bike Parking 3_Data
2137774590.Road Protected Bike Parking 3_Data
2137774590.Road Protected Bike Parking 3_Data
It's from network skins 2, and I'll ask there as well, but it affected this asset only. All the roads disappeared from my city on every save I had of it. (and there were a lot, because, as I said, I love it!)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
And it does suck when cars go on pedestrian paths, or bike paths -.-
That said, should they be labeled like Asymmetrical Protected Bike Lane lane A and Asymmetrical Protected Bike Lane lane B and work as theorized!
(And all that's needed is a few pics with directions and the confused should get it)
I think a lot of people will love them!
Especially for those of US who want to recreate gated or "newer" communities in the US which may have a park, pond or golf course on the side with Bikelanes, being a feeder road to a suburban cul-de-sac like in my home area, here in Florida
Only ours doesn't have a designated parking space (perhaps an easier addition too!)
2 Lane w protected bike lane and tree. ^^ Perhaps that could be part of the connection?
Shame road modding is still beyond my abilities ^^
I was pondering how to do it and I think the bike lane will always end up on the other side, creating a switch node that forces cyclists to go to the other side of the road. Moreover, the user won't be able to decide whether they want two car lanes going in the same direction near the bike lane, or one car lane near the bike lane and two car lanes going in the opposite direction on the other side of the road.
The reason why that might happen is that you can put flags on segment meshes but not on lanes. Even if i flag the two meshes in the right way, cars will end up going in the bike lane and bikes will end up going to the opposite side.
The only way around the problem would be to create two distinct roads, one being the mirror of each other, and let the user place one road on one end and the other road on the other end.
I'll do some trial and error tomorrow, but if you have any idea please let me know!
Cheers mate
BTW Could you make a 1+2 asymmetrical version of this? For when it meets with feeder roads?
Just replacing the one parking lane with a turning lane?
