Hello. And how to make a smooth acceleration of the train?
I've tested and verified this in a new save with American vehicles without any other mods enabled. And I've observed this with the Europe set in past saves.
I'd appreciate if you could fix this. And thanks very much for this mod, I love it!

The most realistic deceleration is 0.5m/s² in my opinion. Then, even for a passenger train, the train has GOOD brakes...
Not that I'm aware of. I've added it (this mod) to various games, new or saved and not always in the same order, when adding mods I want to use. It works fine for me in whatever order it's been loaded in.
I also wonder if by any chance you could do the same for vehicles (bus, truck, AI cars, etc). I actually did have a look for this base_config and couldn't seem to find the config values for vehicle brake but I did find the train one.
- game updates reset your changes in base_config
- editing game files is not very convenient for (obviosly) many players
- most players didn't/don't know that config values like this exist
How is a mod with 0,3 MB and one script line a resource problem?
Did you measure a significant difference in performance?
Just open it, change number in the line reading game.config.trainBrakeDeceleration = 2.5 to anything you like, e.g. 1.0
Easy and resource saving.
But which way you do it, beware: due to the longer "looking ahead" for braking the calculation takes more time, so the performance might get worse, depending on your computer.
________
I would love to be able to increase/decrease it like the brakes. Especially on small maps, so the trains can reach their speed limits.
Thanks for you work
Yes, in theory, but in reality no (low weight) train would apply full traction instantly and accelerate with 2-3m/s²
@Lenz
you could increase the weight of cargo to make trains accel slower - this offcourse would inflict with otehr industry mods
but hey - the trains accel realistic for that low weight they have in game
Really plays well late game and acts as a "buffer" when high speed trains follow slower ones along the line, stops all that jerky sprinting from one red signal to the next.
Beside brakingFactor they added accelerationFactor but this affects the train movement in general, so if this is lower the departure accerlation is realistic but it's much harder with higher speeds...
