Why there is no industrial zone demand in this map? Does anyone experience this?

@no that's a fair assessment. i did not want to change the original design of the the terrain. may i suggest The Great Plan, which I also edited?

i love this map but the problem is you cant really make canals
the water level is too low

Anyone else experiencing land not being zonable after adding road? Not all of it but half, I make grids of 8xN and the lower 4 become zonable while the upper 4 dont.

@Laaaaggertha if it uses any of the railroad interchanges by Impact! They do not work. I keep the ones from the original creator, Mulberry. I only fixed the edge problems.
Laaaaggertha 30 Jun, 2023 @ 2:43am
Did recent patches mess up the map? Railroad interchange is FUBAR. I had to rebuild it. Every 5 minutes my rail way was at a standstill. till I cleared traffic with a mod.

@fazmanji I'm 99% certain the green dots you're seeing with "move it" are wildlife spawn points. It's how wild animals like deer get on the map. You can delete them with "move it" and it won't break anything other than you won't have wild animals roaming around.

There are a few green dots on the map. According to Move It! these are (invisible) buildings. I am curious about these. I can easily delete them but don't want to mess up your map. Thanks and keep up the good work.

@Sparky - I didn't modify the original; Please consider using the Extra Landscaping to simply add it.

The oil is "overlapping" some farms so watch for that
Sparky 4 Oct, 2022 @ 6:29am
Good map, Needs more oil and ore place but yeah good map.

@Firefly Banner - check out my latest version of "The Great Plan" (--> "The Great Plan Infrastructure+") originally from Mulberry as well (but w/ issues with the railroad in the original)
Firefly Banner 5 Mar, 2022 @ 2:32pm
Thank you, again.
I tend to go back to this map when life gets unreasonably challenging.
codewitch  [author] 5 Mar, 2022 @ 10:06am
@Firefly Banner - if you're referring to the ones used in the map, they might be:

Smooth Interchange (used in map) by @standin.Prester
blackwiddow's Railway Half Clover (used in map) by @blackwiddow

Links in the description under "Attributions / Thanks"

Further, I regularly build my own to adjust to terrain needs based on plopping a premade as a template - not sure I needed that here but it's a good idea to learn that as a tool for your toolkit. (Then I'll delete the premade I plopped)

I love this map. I've been playing on my copy for weeks, and having a wonderful time.

I *would* like to be able to recreate those lovely highway intersections. Mine got hit by a meteor, and I had to replace it with a vanilla clover design.
If you would be pleased to post the intersection as an asset, I'd be grateful. (They're beautiful, and work really well!)

@Emiricol4Rl

I'm not good at maps, personally. And I'm not a modeller. I'm a software engineer with very limited game dev experience. And it's just a hobby to fix my own cities.

I can edit the map but I can't think of a good design for it, because I don't use this map myself anymore. I would like it (for sake of map editing best practices) to work within vanilla. If you have an idea I'd be more than happy to review it!

I am working on (well, need to prep environment first) but intersection assets next/currently. I like fixing things (Flatlands was one of my favorite maps, so was The Great Plan, and I already had to do this in the map editor in a local copy or every time I started it) but fixing mods requires me setting dev environment (which this computer doesn't have at all), then configure it for CSL modding, which, I haven't gotten around to. That's the next big thing though, would be taking a look at ones - some even have pull requests that fix the issue - and making (at least temporary) fixes or trying to get them tested & pushed out for everyone. A lot of gamers and modders are taking covid-related breaks from being on their games all the time after being burnt out on it.

And yeah that connection cramped your noise pollution and build space too much, especially for lower-density construction as you were working your way up.
Emiricol4Rl 18 Feb, 2021 @ 4:19pm
I really like how you moved the "extra" connection to outside of the starting square! That always kind of bugged me. Anyway, it doesn't really need the harbor if it's too painful. People can just edit it in themselves for those who really want it. I'm not really sure what to suggest as your next project, but I know that MrMiyagi has some awesome maps that are kind of outdated and have some other issues with things like water, rail connections, and other quirks (especially in his earlier maps). They're great maps and he seems like a friendly sort of person.
codewitch  [author] 17 Feb, 2021 @ 10:56pm
@Emiricol4Rl I'll consider an (alternate) version but there are two major considerations:
- where to put it that multiple ship configurations would be accessible in 9, 25, 81 tile setups (this is a map and I believe they should work in CSL vanilla when/as possible)
- I tried not to modify the original map too much and *technically* my permission to edit the map was more-or-less to fix the issue with the original. I'm kinda really bored of this particular map so I'd like some suggestions (see above) in location
Emiricol4Rl 17 Feb, 2021 @ 4:32pm
Harbor area would be nice, yes
codewitch  [author] 12 Jul, 2020 @ 6:57am
I want to keep the terrain (mostly) true to the original, but I do like the idea of adding a harbor area.

When I played with with 81 tiles, I'd usually place the "International airport layout" from Dexter's designs in a far tile, but I did need to flatten it a lot, and it might be too far away to have demand/use, so might be worth looking into that as well.
balcmusic 12 Jul, 2020 @ 6:08am
I did add a small mountain range by the river/interchange starting area, and also added an island, because that's how I like my ships to dock :) but that's just personal playing preference. I"ll post a screen shot.
codewitch  [author] 11 Jul, 2020 @ 11:18am
Thank you! I'm taking a break from modded CSL (& custom content) [ran into "too many mods again" type problem on multiple games]. Just an fyi, I am considering moving the West<->East highway towards the north, so that the highway is actually in the tile to the north, not in your starting area, and that the interchange gives you the first 2 connections, unlocking two opposing ones for (likely industrial) expansion if you so wish to expand that way. This should give you more space in the starting area and hopefully an easier time growing the area and connecting it across the river and/or to the highways
balcmusic 11 Jul, 2020 @ 6:27am
nice changes! Will be sure to play this map.
