Thanks a bunch
I can't maintain a consistent 60FPS without this mod.

is it possible to make a mod for only vehicle shadows and only static shadows, to maybe check which shadows cause the problem?

Your bus usage values are good, so it is most likely your CPU. Wreckfest uses a different engine, most probably a custom one. Just as you said its not very optimized, but we can do nothing about that.

There are 2 settings that influence your CPU workload, shadows and reflections. For reflections you can try using low setting. For shadows either use this mod + high settings, or just turn it off altogether.

Just did a test monitoring said bus usage, while having everything and also shadows turned to as high as possible. 5-7% while my fps were good and an actually lower usage % of 2-3% as soon as those fps dips hit, so what does that mean?

I mean, if my CPU was indeed the issue and not the game itself and how it's shadows are optimized, then why don't I have these dips in other and arguably far more demanding titles as well? For example: GTA V, PUBG, Bannerlord or Fallout 4.

Some Nvidia drivers are bad with this game, using them will result in excessive PCI-E usage.
So try monitoring PCI-E bus usage too, you might have a bottleneck there. If you are using Afterburner, you can find it under "BUS usage" name. It should be under 15% while you are racing. (ideallly <10% on PCI-E 16x Gen 3.)

Also unfortunately the game uses DX11, which needs a lot of CPU power. I'm not sure if you are CPU limited never worked with AMD Bulldozer before.

Damn.. I was really hoping that this mod would fix my shadow issues, but unfortunately it did not, even when I turn them to low running this mod. I have the exact same issues as HeroPlayss with my shadows and have been looking for a solution for ages now already. BugBear basically just told me that my system is bottlenecked, which it is not and that was the end of their help pretty much.

If you're interested in the full story and all the info I could possibly provide you then go to this thread on their forum page, where I posted everything and made a video even: http://community.bugbeargames.com/threads/shadows-break-performance.13340/

I think this is the fastest setup without visual glitching. You can reduce the distance, but there will be severe glitches.

What kind of GPU are you using?
HeroPlayss 5 Aug, 2020 @ 2:15pm
ou and the mod does not help me in that aspect ...

would it be possible to reduce the distance in which shadows are shown? I have the problem that in the direction the shadows go my fps go down to 15 - 25 fps when looking into that direction, i dont know what really is causing the issue but its the same for every shadow setting.
I usually play on Ultra settings with motionblur on and shadows off (with 90 - 120 fps) because of this issue.

I gave it a test run,it helps a bit.I saw slightly lower gpu usage (73% vs 78%) in my test area and very little loss in image quality good job! It's worth running deffo for guys with lower end gpu's.I use a 1080ti and I'm going to keep using it,thanks m8.
