@Scientist This sounds like the know issue with some skyboxes. Already listed under know issues. Or do you mean something different?

As of April 2025 the atmosphere seems to be broken. Still works as intended, except there isnt a pitch black atmosphere.

Good to hear that the damage script is still working. I hope some day I find the time to update it, there are other mods which seems to have better ones.

I think I was having issues because I had too many mods running. I'll try troubleshooting one day soon. Again love it, seeing ships get ripped apart is quite amusing. Cheers!

Hm, normally the gravity should start on the edge of the disc, not further.

So I've been trying this at 19km and 120km and I'm getting stuck in the gravity well really far away from the disc. And here I was planning on spawning it at 900000km lmfao. Love it tho. Just gonn be tricky getting something to orbit the event horizon.

For the damage of course. There is also one without damage and so without client side scripts.

It use scripts for damaging, but there is also a version of this mod without this script, then it only drags you in and you hit the surface of the black hole.

If you want to use it for your own you can upload it to mod io, but link to the mod on the Steam Workshop at least.

Like every other planet. So if you search how to swan in planets you should easily find the answer. Didn't played SE in a longer time so I can't remember the shortcut for the spawn window.

No damage when you get very close to the black hole itself (not only into the rings)? Damage in SE itself is on?

It's normal size planets could have. Are you sure you didn't switch some graphic setting off and you also not are on the same height as the rings (look at them from the side). I don't know if there are mods that could be a problem, best you check it on an empty world in sandbox mode without any other mods.

Was on my list. You can't rotate a planet by your own but you can add in the definition files another version of the planet which orientation is different. But that means I need to do for any orientation a definition. But I'm not active in SE modding for a longer time now.

I know it's a long shot, but is there a way to change the orientation of the disc? Like, rotating it 90 degrees so it's parallel with the X world axis?

If it is really much larger, than SE maybe have changed something on the planet gravity.

the gravity is like on a planet all around, not only on the rings, but as I created this mod the gravity should start close where the rings start. Maybe it is a bit wider but very very close in comparison to the size of the black hole and the rings.

it says that the gravity doesnt start until you enter the disk radius, but when i spawn it in the gravity well is massive and far beyond the disk, am i missing something?

The size comes from the texture I use and because the texture naming is bound onto the filename on planets (stupid dev decision), I need to save the same textures into several files. There was also another problem with textures why I need to make them in double height (lower part is not used by the game). That all result in a larger mod download.

So to your question if it is possible to lower the mod size. Maybe, I had an idea for that I never checked because I stopped playing SE at that time.

The gravity begins where the disc begins, but very low. The mod is so huge because of the size of the ring textures and because the textures for the ring needed to be copied because you can't use the same texture on every ring part (dumb filename rules). But there is sure space for improvement to make the mod smaller. It is one reason why it is called "WIP". A other problem is, that I didn't played SE in a very long time now, so I also stopped to make mods for it or to improve them.

It is also too long to remember the sizes. Can be that I messed here something up. Maybe it must be m instead of km.

im confused with these numbers:
Gravity Radius (max. 120,000 km Planet Size): 530,500 km
Gravity Radius (min. 19,000 km Planet Size): 84,000 km

the max planet size on SE is 120Km so what is the range of the black hole gravity here? 530Km i presume on a max size black hole?
also why this take 400Mb and most planet mods not even 50-100mb? im curious on this one because im a modder too, and im planning to move to maybe mod SE too someday :)

Hey I am back, I figured out what happened if I made a black hole max size and put it next to a planet (I did mars as the planet) and what happened was quite interesting. If you could give me permission to make it a public video Balmung and let me post the link here as well for people who are curios that would be nice.

Hm, when it worked before, what has changed since it worked the last time? With that less information's so far I can not really help.

I see, I don't think I can do anything to that jump drive issue. Then the players need to be more careful if they jump.

it was working but now its not is what i mean sorry.

the jump drives dont work when u are in the grav well but if u blind jump towards the blackhole thinking you are going to be safe as u dont get the warning saying you cant jump into a gravity well but then u end up in it.

As the description said, I never tested it in multiplayer by myself. Some other players comment here over the time that it worked for them on Servers. Can't say why it didn't work for you and your players. Did you installed the mod on the Server itself and every player use it? Also get sure you used the right black hole version, there is also one without the damage script.

The second issue is then a jump drive issue, can't fix that. Did you test how far you can go to the black hole before the jump drive didn't work anymore? You could see it as a last rescue option.

sorry for the late reply.

So 2 issues i am seeing 1 is the damage isnt working on dedicated servers which it was and the original issue is that jump drives arent suppose to be able to jump into gravity yet when it comes to the black hole you can. idk if that is because how far it expands and jump drive code doesnt see the gravity well that far out from its center.
