Slot Machine Weight Rebalance

Ah thanks, I'll give it a go.

It adds weight to some items and slightly reduces the cargo hold size. In the base game for example, potassium absorbers and replacement parts weigh just 1kg. This mod increases those to 5kg, so you'll carry slightly less ridiculous amounts of them. Combined with the extra slots from the other mod you're now limited by weight, instead of by slots as in the base game. That makes the extra slots less cheaty and more of a different kind of balance.

You description is a bit vague of what this mod does - how does it balance the weights? Does it add more total weight for the uboat for extra slots or remove it? Are food and item weights changed? A bit more info would be appreciated.

Needs an update you have to enter the game then exit out and restart the entire game for it to even work.

Updated for 2024.1 now. Should have all the important new items. Let me know if there's something I missed that should have a different weight.

loading both "slot machine extra slots to your sub" and "slots + torpedos" with this mod will make this mod stop working as well. huge thanks to Cironian for making this mod, i hated lugging ammo up to deck gun after every surface attack.
gotchagain 10 Jul, 2024 @ 10:00am
just a fyi after trying to make this mod work for way longer than i should have. it still works in 2024.1, but only if you do NOT use the listed required "slot machine extra slots to your sub"
[assuming untill it is updated] in stead you can use "slots + torpedos" mod that has been updated and is apparently based off of slot machine. just a workaround till the original is updated.

Parameters in a simple Excel spreadsheet.
The first aid kit and spare parts have a weight, price and quantity that can be bought from a warehouse in the port.
If you change the weight, the quantity will change. How so? 2 different independent parameters.
Specific example:
The weight of 1 spare part is 1 kg, the quantity in table 5 is equal to approximately 1-5 spare parts in the game in stock.
In the mod, the quantity has been increased from 5 to 100 - this is equal to 20-40 spare parts in the warehouse in the game. The weight is the same 1 kg.
If you increase the weight instead of 1 kg by at least 2 kg in the table, with the same amount of 100 in the table, then in the game the number of spare parts will decrease to 1-5.
Can you help explain. To have a lot of spare parts and increase the weight.

How does the weight of spare parts and first aid kits affect their quantity?
Royal Raven 17 Oct, 2022 @ 6:54pm
@Cironian Patch 5 added this:
- Adjustment to the weight of various items.

Do not know if this mod needs to be checked against that. Just wanted to give you a heads up, if your not around playing the game at all.

Note to Users that also use UBE, if you want to use this mod with UBE , it must load after UBE and overwrite UBE changes - I can not confirm what kind of impacts this will have to UBE gameplay.

@Cironian A couple questions, First one, I assume B129 stable fixed the issue you mention below, about how B129 unstable would cause the mod to have food 10x the morale benefit.

Second question, how do you feel the weight balance feels for the new food item, Bread?

Thanks.

Thank you, Cironian!
Cironian  [author] 6 Sep, 2021 @ 3:57am
Updated for the changed item parameters in B129.
Cironian  [author] 11 Jun, 2021 @ 6:40am
Small note for those on B129 unstable: It looks like B129 changed how some parameters work, so this mod will cause food to have 10 times the morale benefit it should. I'll keep an eye on it, but as it's not game breaking and they might still tune it again before the stable release, I'll just leave it as is for now.
McDewgle 1 Jun, 2021 @ 11:59pm
works fine on b129 unstable

Is this supposed to reduce the availability of items in the warehouse? Because I think it does. When I have it enabled, for example, the number of repair parts or medkits available in the warehouse drastically drops from 28 to 2, to say approximate amounts.
Generic Unicorn 10 Mar, 2021 @ 7:20pm
@Cironian Could you make a mod to increase kitchen storage from 500 to maybe 2000
The last mod like that seems to have been removed
Cironian  [author] 23 Feb, 2021 @ 8:14am
Load order is a little weird. I think the game goes alphabetically, which for workshop mods means the internal steam ID number. I don't think there's a way to change that, except to rename the mod folders on your local installation. Someone might have to build a mod loader which does that.
Stephen95s 22 Feb, 2021 @ 4:10pm
just to let you know, it would seem your mod overides the values no matter the mod order, aka absorbers diving suit, rebreather, combat helmet, small arms, coffee, replacement parts, medkit. will be the values in your mod even if you have another mod to change say the cofffee lower in the order. odd, thought i would let you know :)
abcnemo 4 Feb, 2021 @ 6:03pm
It could be Entities.xlsx/Equipment tab/Ammunition storage & Flak ammunition storage because both have ItemsMassLimit = 750. However, since I have already subscribed to your mods, I don't know what effect changing that value in the original file would have. I don't know this game well enough

thanks, I'll take a look

The deck gun storage capacity is defined in one of the excel files... Can't look it up right now, but it's probably labelled "Deck Gun" or something straightforward like that.
abcnemo 3 Feb, 2021 @ 5:59pm
@Cironian I'm going to use the realistic guns mod too but I don't really know how to "just expand the storage on the deck gun itself", is there a file I need to modify?
luftysoldat 16 Nov, 2020 @ 10:58pm
Yea brother no worries! I like making my guys bring ammo up to the gun like they had to in the olden days! I’m a grouchy Captain! Lol
Cironian  [author] 14 Nov, 2020 @ 11:27pm
@luftysoldat If you are going that way, I'd recommend just expanding the storage on the deck gun itself instead of the general storage area. That way, the extra space can only be used for the ammo you intended.

Personally, I feel the non-historic ammo capacity is already balanced by the gun being much more powerful per shot than in real life, so I'll keep things as is for now.
luftysoldat 14 Nov, 2020 @ 10:15am
I love the mod (the weight rebalancing of the individual items) however I play with the realistic guns mod and reducing the storage to 3000 is impossible to play as the deck gun ammunition alone at full compliment of 250 weighs at 3435 not including the anti aircraft ammunition. I just tweaked the amount of storage back up to 8000 and left everything else alone. That seemed to solve the problem. As long as you keep the ammunition at historical levels it all balances out.

Again this is not a critique as I love what the mod does, I figured it just may help those who have the same issue. Keep up the great work!
Cironian  [author] 26 Oct, 2020 @ 9:26am
3000kg is correct for the current version of the mod, see my comment from July 12th below. 4000 was a bit too generous.
mateobl24 25 Oct, 2020 @ 4:53pm
Need an update ? It doesn't work anymore with B128
We are at 3000kg and not 4000kg
Vermithraxe 15 Jul, 2020 @ 6:27am
I appreciate you making this mod for us. Thought the idea that only so few items could be stored while the weight allowed only for a variety of different items to be stored was a bit unrealistic. This mod fixes that issue and adds some complexity as well. Having only 1 repair item will be interesting on the engineers considering they will now have to go to storage to get next repair part which adds to some realism too. Over all with your weight rebalance mod should add some over all realism to this game. Thank you, well done and thought out!

To put this in context: Food often takes most of your storage space, but even so a full 40 days worth of food at the highest possible consumption rate comes out to just 2200kg, leaving you with 800kg for ammo, parts, scrubbers, decoys and such.

That's still plenty in my opinion, and if you are willing to micromanage your food a bit, you can get even more free space.
Cironian  [author] 12 Jul, 2020 @ 3:44am
OK, main storage is set to 3000kg now. I did two patrols with that and it's completely fine even for longer stays at sea. You just can't take half a shipyards worth of consumables anymore.

Hört sich gut an:cozyspaceengineersc:
Wrath of the North 11 Jul, 2020 @ 11:28am
Awesome! Thanks Chief.

More restriction doesn't hurt - I'm for 3000 and agree that it'd be a good representation for the cramped storage.
Cironian  [author] 11 Jul, 2020 @ 9:17am
Currently I feel that 4000kg for main storage might still be a little too much, as you do not really have to make any tradeoffs at all. 4000kg still allows you to have about 45 days worth of food, plenty of spare ammo and scrubbers as well as 10 repair parts. Maybe something like 3000 would be better to represent the fact that storage was generally tight on this kind of boat.

I'll think about it a bit and maybe run some tests in the next few days. Let me know if anyone has an opinion on this.
