ICM Raihani - modified Siren-class frigate

Sounds good, are you going to base it on the original Raihani or overhaul the Siren MK2 by Papple? Either way, It should be interesting to see how the MK2 turns out. I usually refit this ship as a stealth/recon platform with precision strike capability. Its designed to spot and and disable other ships. Then other ships in my faction can capture or salvage the target.

As it happens, I'm currently working on an update for this ship. Will likely publish it as a Mk2, but it's still a week or two away before it's ready for the workshop.

Yo @Taidyr,
This ship is like almost 5 years old, but the bones of this ship are perfect. With how many updates SE has had in that time, will we see an updated MK2 version in the future? I know your likely testing builds in SE2, but It would be awesome to see this masterpiece updated to current blocks and DLC.

@pobblebonk: Thanks for the feedback! Very interessting modifications you got there.

The side-ports where actually intended for rotor-turrets (see the progression-screenshots) but I could not come up with a setup that satisfied my needs and wasn't destroyed almost instantly in combat. But it's still ready to receive PMWs or modded weapons just by replacing the connector.

The font is called "Protomolecule" and can be found here .

@silver.talon: Thank you! Happy to hear you enjoy the ship! I've got a few Expanse-themed builds in the making but the next one to be finished will be most likely another frigate - more focused towards PVP combat and without DLC-blocks.

Hey @Taidyr,
This design is by far the best expanse frigate on the workshop. Its great on balance, versatility, and firepower. I run a special ops command faction on my server and this beauty shines. I have no advise, questions or concerns, I'm merely curious as to when we'll get to see your next project in the Expanse universe?

Also I gotta add, I think if this is your new personal ship after transitioning from the Angurvadal, I think that this is a smart move. Certainly a much more streamlined silhouette, and those side landing pads are in the perfect place and just snubby enough to offer a superb platform for ship modifications like large rotor turrets or like in my case nacelles. Good job, new fav dickship.

What is the font of the deck level LCDs? I wanna recreate it in white so I can change the color to green for myself instead of it being stuck on orange. Doing my own little modification.

Downloaded, messed with... I really like this!

Hello @Kitty Lee,
I'm happy to hear my ships meet your standards and I hope they'll continue to serve you well. Unfortunately though, neither your name, nor Richard or the RNR Imperial Company ring any bells for me and I'm not familiar with your process of reviewing and testing designs.

I'm aware that I might sound like a d*ck here. But please understand that I get requests for collaborations on a regular basis and it usually turns out to be someone who presents me a flying shoebox, poorly thrown together and covered in guns, then asking me to make it look pretty - of course without sacrificing durability, defense... whatever.

And I'm sorry to say that but regarding your statement that you've been following my progress and deemed me worthy to utilize your research, I just don't see anything on your own workshop or profile that can make me think the same way about you and convince me, that this request is any different. So I have to respectfully decline your offer at this time.
Kitty Lee 12 Aug, 2020 @ 6:15pm
We have yet to examine this creation, Richard will do it soon and we'll lost all the flaws we find.
Kitty Lee 12 Aug, 2020 @ 6:11pm
Hi Taidyr, I'm Ricky/Kitty from a small group known as the RNR Imperial Company. Well, allow me to give my context. RNR is primarily just me and Richard, so we extensively test and over-engineer everything before we consider adding it to our arsenal. Generally nothing we find on the workshop or YouTube comes anywhere near our standards, our main priority is durability - what you call defense - and from our research almost no one actually understands the full potential of designing vessels to be able to shrug off damage. We've followed your progress and tested quite a few of your designs and were surprised at how well a couple can take damage and how well others ward off missiles. We've decided it would be beneficial if we shared some of our armor tech with you. You're the only one so far we deem worthy enough to utilize my research. We're excited to collaborate with you, if you're willing.

@TwinChops: The script rotates the ship by 180° fires the main thrusters until it comes to a full stop. It is preset in the toolbar. If you want to put it at another position, just grab the programmable block, drag it to the toolbar and use argument "toggle".
TwinChops 9 Aug, 2020 @ 6:36pm
So since the Retro Braking is not Published, can you explain what it does and how to use it?
Taidyr  [author] 22 Jul, 2020 @ 9:41am
You're right abou that @CrimsonAdder. And I already talked to a few people who got hit by that wave too. However, this ship received a few more downvotes than the regular two I get on almost all my builds, before that happend. My little statement was directed primarly towards them.
CrimsonAdder 22 Jul, 2020 @ 8:04am
hey Tai, a lotta peeps have been getting downvote bombed recently, I'm sure it's nothing personal
Taidyr  [author] 20 Jul, 2020 @ 12:42am
It's managable to a certain point. Edges get annoying when using multiple different colors/skins on the same surface or when your build has a lot of large surfaces in general. Thats also the reason why I don't use "Edge be gone" in my creative worlds since the edges can be quite helpful to find some missing spots on your design. Like a different colored block or a hole under an armor slope. In this build for example I had the center block of the wall, that the flight seat is attached to, colored in a slightly lighter gray. Was not visible with the mod active, but the edges pointed me right at it.
Additionally I want the ship to look good in regular unmodded gameplay as well, so I leave the edges on while building to ensure the result looks good - which is the reason why I went with a more simple paintjob on this ship.
J4R 19 Jul, 2020 @ 11:34pm
True, armour edges are annoying... Maybe Keen should finally do away with them entirely. I should start building with the edge be gone mod :P
Taidyr  [author] 19 Jul, 2020 @ 10:38am
Additionally a few words to all the ppl who have downvoted this: It's perfectly fine if you don't like the vessel. May it be because of the DLCs, the interior layout, the performance, whatever. But if you've found an actual flaw in the design that needs to be corrected, I would be thankful if you point me towards the issue in the comments, So I actually have a chance to correct it. Can't fix a problem with a thumbs down. Thank you.
Taidyr  [author] 19 Jul, 2020 @ 10:37am
@julekBombon: This ship is not part of my VME-Collection so I went a different way with the thumbnail and look. Happy you like it. Stay safe out there as well!

@CrimsonAdder: Sorry you can't enjoy the ship to it's full potential without the DLC. I have multiple projects in progress that will be all vanilla, but it will still take a while until they're done.

@Lt.Starbound: Thank you!

@Doctor Budgie: Thanks! The version with my other colors looks good in my screenshot-world, but unfortunately in normal gameplay, where the edges are visible, the details and sharp angles on the hull, will break up and disort the paint job. So I've decided to go with my older set of grey colors which is more forgiving in that case.

@DerMakrat: I always try to not make my ships bigger than absolutely necessary - which is why I sticked to the original dimensions. Imho the Siren-class has exactly the right size for a frigate. Happy to hear you like the interior, since I'm quite proud of it myself.
DerMakrat 19 Jul, 2020 @ 3:07am
this is realy impressiv. not unnecessary huge. just practical and realy polished. Like the internal designe.
J4R 17 Jul, 2020 @ 9:15am
The version in your standard colours also looks particularily eye-catching, great work!
Rhea.licious 17 Jul, 2020 @ 5:48am
Excellent work!
CrimsonAdder 16 Jul, 2020 @ 10:12pm
holy shit this looks nice, wish i could use dlc
SOBEK 16 Jul, 2020 @ 9:54pm
