However, I noticed it only replaces the logic for the basic ladder block and not for the scaffold ladder or ladder shaft. Are there any plans to also apply this logic to those blocks?
I'm gonna assume that ladder users are a minority or something, I dunno. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ xD
There was an API change by Keen that invalidated Digi's ladder Logic. Digi has fixed it, their ladders work just fine but this mod has not been updated to the new API so it will critically fail during load. =-(
It was all Drizzt, he put me up to this! I've been framed, they got the wrong guy! Oh wait, too soon?
thanks for the update! :-)
Sorry for the f*up.
and thanks for confirming i'm not going crazy (at least not regarding ladder footsteps anyway......)
:-)
And yes, i think the vanilla ladder actually doesn't even have the sound. xD
Amazing Keen workmanship right there.
but with this and Digi's mod both active, the footsteps sounds play twice for both ladders
(feel free to kick me out of the car and tell me to make my own way there ;-))
good luck with the replacer - really interested to see how you do it! :-)
I'm just wondering if the replacer aspect might be better as a script, and have your ladder as a new block in addition to the vanilla version (maybe when the mod is active the vanilla ladder could be renamed "Grab Rail" in the menu). Then you could have the script work both ways, so that if people need to uninstall the mod (for example to use a world or ship on a vanilla server) they could run the second script to make all their ladders vanilla so that they don't disappear.
Just a thought - could also have two version of the mod, one a replacer and one a new block?
But anyway, enough chatter from me! Great job and thanks for fixing the strafe :-)
My main goal is to make it a replacer so hopefully I'll figure it out soon. :D
Thanks for your patience. :)
Also, (hopefully) fixed side movements and tweaked the behavior a bit to better suit the logic for the vanilla ladder model. Enjoy! :D
But as things are at the moment, if you need a ladder, it's a Digi ladder.
So i've noticed a few things:
1. Strafe doesn't appear to work for me (also means tutorial never completes)
2. Ladders placed before mod installation will still be vanilla (i guess your new block hides the vanilla one from the menu, even though it still exists? would it be possible to script a replace for vanilla ladders on a grid?)
Anyway, i hope that was useful feedback - thanks and long live the ladder logic of Digi! :-)
Oh, and all thanks to Digi, i merely ported it to the vanilla ladder. xDDDD
