sounds like an interesting game mechanic
with guards to protect them
'earn your pay you lazy git'
lol
is there a mod that give the crew tasks?
at the moment they will get payed for doing nothing ... i don't like the sound of that
fair enough that some can fight or heal but,
can i get them to do the gardening in replace of the garden bots for example?
or a chef that creates meals or feeds crew?
just some ideas, but I am totally adding this for my next play through even without all that. One question though: does the payment timer tick up based on universe time, or the local character's playtime? Could cause an issue if you have multiple characters in the same universe (I have at least three different characters), though it might be justified since the rest of the universe, including those unused characters' crops and colonies, keep moving as well. Maybe just apply a bit of grace if the given character has been unused for a while but the universe kept moving? I can imagine a "we thought you were dead so we started stealing from your ship's fridge" reaction from the crew.
anyway, I guess what I'm saying is I'd love to see this expanding to be a complete overhaul of the crew and questing system. At the very least I'd like to see food as an option for payment (with higher-tiered meals being worth more, perhaps even above the selling value of the item. Seriously, I have a lot of food I can't figure out what to do with other than sell), maybe pay outlaws less (per PartyPenguin's point) since this would be an incentive not to kill them for their drops (they don't seem to fight any better than soldiers, the crew in red suits), and perhaps related to that, outlaws can turn hostile (going back to their previous AI, minus the quest) if you can't meet their meager requirements?
Making matters worse, town mechanics are weird and don't seem to produce quests if there are too many crew-ready NPCs in the area? which is a good reason to keep expanding a colony since that increases the area capacity forcibly...

entiled? ;-; what does that mean?
crew members are property
time to improve my idea.
Me: (Already giving them shelter, food, clothes, education?, healthcare, etc. even if they don't work.) excuse me what?
Dam- you Taxes and Salaries!!!
Even if the mod wasn't hard to make, it's still super cool to see someone put in the work to make a simple suggestion like this happen.
Again, you get mad respect from me.
Stay frosty gamer. B^)
