maybe then a good pay rate would mean a better worker
Randal 10 Oct, 2024 @ 9:39am
or have mine workers instead of the bots
sounds like an interesting game mechanic
with guards to protect them

'earn your pay you lazy git'
lol
Randal 10 Oct, 2024 @ 9:35am
great idea but,
is there a mod that give the crew tasks?

at the moment they will get payed for doing nothing ... i don't like the sound of that

fair enough that some can fight or heal but,
can i get them to do the gardening in replace of the garden bots for example?

or a chef that creates meals or feeds crew?
Randal 10 Oct, 2024 @ 9:24am
is there a way to set my own rate ?

Payment? Hah! These freeloaders should be thankful that they're living in MY ship.
Ribbons0121R121 24 Dec, 2022 @ 8:45am
they should form a union
Admiral Zander 23 Dec, 2022 @ 12:19pm
should make them leave if you miss two paychecks
Rockman Zeta 12 Sep, 2022 @ 2:36am
ok great
C0bra5  [author] 11 Sep, 2022 @ 9:22pm
yep, your employee's pay will be automatically removed from your bank account after every hour of gameplay. don't worry going bankrupt won't cause your mates from leaving you tho.
Rockman Zeta 11 Sep, 2022 @ 1:33pm
is the payment automatic?
Admiral Zander 13 Jul, 2022 @ 7:20am

No pain no gain, but in this game they are my slaves and die for me muahahaha.
silly man 2 Jun, 2022 @ 10:59am

Plague 8 Feb, 2022 @ 1:39pm
Have you ever considered just picking up a coding course, Twisted_Code?
Twisted_Code 19 Aug, 2021 @ 8:29am
(okay so I was over 2000 characters. I'm a bit long-winded)
just some ideas, but I am totally adding this for my next play through even without all that. One question though: does the payment timer tick up based on universe time, or the local character's playtime? Could cause an issue if you have multiple characters in the same universe (I have at least three different characters), though it might be justified since the rest of the universe, including those unused characters' crops and colonies, keep moving as well. Maybe just apply a bit of grace if the given character has been unused for a while but the universe kept moving? I can imagine a "we thought you were dead so we started stealing from your ship's fridge" reaction from the crew.
Twisted_Code 19 Aug, 2021 @ 8:27am
(stupid 1000 character limit)
anyway, I guess what I'm saying is I'd love to see this expanding to be a complete overhaul of the crew and questing system. At the very least I'd like to see food as an option for payment (with higher-tiered meals being worth more, perhaps even above the selling value of the item. Seriously, I have a lot of food I can't figure out what to do with other than sell), maybe pay outlaws less (per PartyPenguin's point) since this would be an incentive not to kill them for their drops (they don't seem to fight any better than soldiers, the crew in red suits), and perhaps related to that, outlaws can turn hostile (going back to their previous AI, minus the quest) if you can't meet their meager requirements?
Twisted_Code 19 Aug, 2021 @ 8:26am
this has potential, but it would be nice if I actually needed the crew for more than just "qualifying for ship upgrades". I rarely use a landing party because I am mostly just cycling through quests to try and get upgrade modules, tech cards, etc. All of these only come from the highest quality reward bags you get from more complicated quests (those with a reward coefficient of at least .5) , and since those are rarer,I end up with a lot of crew I don't actually want.
Making matters worse, town mechanics are weird and don't seem to produce quests if there are too many crew-ready NPCs in the area? which is a good reason to keep expanding a colony since that increases the area capacity forcibly...
Razzberi 23 May, 2021 @ 9:20pm
why do i have to pay outlaws? they're on my ship just because i haven't turned them in.
Guy 12 Mar, 2021 @ 8:49pm
Gotta have a mutiny if you don't pay.
bt0003 31 Jan, 2021 @ 3:13pm
i pay you with free food and housing what else could you ask for?
BD Tiger 2 Jan, 2021 @ 2:48pm
I feel a lot better now. It's probably gonna drain the fuck out of my wallet, especially considering that sometimes I forget to close the game, but I'm glad I get to pay them now. :>
C0bra5  [author] 3 Dec, 2020 @ 8:56am
The payment is taken automatically from your wallet.

PentaSquares 28 Jul, 2020 @ 2:48pm
oh so that's why people don't like (my version of-) communism.
time to improve my idea.
shardinhand 27 Jul, 2020 @ 8:50pm
<,< im not well liked by those who work for me... no....
shardinhand 27 Jul, 2020 @ 8:49pm
i pay my crew in years to live... if they dont work... i dock their pay!
RizzCarlton 27 Jul, 2020 @ 2:55pm
That's because you think of your crew as a play thing, which in this instance is true it's a game, but follow your logic to it's conclusion. Real world people are feeling thinking individuals who want to do more than "just survive."
PentaSquares 27 Jul, 2020 @ 10:33am
Crew demands pay.
Me: (Already giving them shelter, food, clothes, education?, healthcare, etc. even if they don't work.) excuse me what?
Prin 27 Jul, 2020 @ 4:51am

Ky / Nas 24 Jul, 2020 @ 11:22pm
Honestly, mad respect Cobra.
Even if the mod wasn't hard to make, it's still super cool to see someone put in the work to make a simple suggestion like this happen.
Again, you get mad respect from me.

Stay frosty gamer. B^)
